Teacher's Lounge 1/23

How are you surviving??

Re: Teacher's Lounge 1/23

  • Annoyed, tired, ready to snap at stupid policies, SPED teacher so also "fighting" and butting heads with students that don't want to do the work I give them or the things I need to help them with. I have little to no patience right now and find myself constantly on the verge of snapping and swearing at my students. I need a day or 2 off.

  • I don't teach children, I teach nurses and PAs.  I'm not sure what is more trying.  I explained to everyone that will be a test tomorrow.  At the end of the day, someone came up to me with a specific question about the exam.  Two nurses in the front jumped up and said THERES A TEST TOMORROW?!?  I wanted to throw my pen at them :s  They missed my explanation about the exam because they were talking the whole time. ugh

  • @AKFarmerBecky ugh, I feel for you!!! I have zero patience as well. Take a day off! I went in to my admin's office last Friday and was like "I need a mental health day, where's the calendar?" I am SO looking forward to THIS Friday. I haven't taken a day off for myself since before my DS was born.

@DDRGirlie adults can totally be just as bad as kids!
  • Snapping at students, and then feeling really guilty, even when they're high schoolers and deserved it. I'm just tired and grouchy and would rather put in a movie most days. I lost my voice for 3 days last week, that was a real good time.
  • Last week I was captain grouchy. Hopefully this week will be better. I've got a lot going on outside of work this week, so trying to make phone calls between speech therapy session has been a pain in the ass.

  • I teach K so for the most part, I've appreciated staying busy during the day. It has helped keep my mind off any aches or pains I'm feeling. There have been some moments where I find myself being a little cranky/hard on them. I try to take a deep breath and remind myself "They're only 5, they're only 5.."
  • @lyndshurt  I got a little satisfaction today.  The two chatty women scored poorly on the exams today - probably because they were too busy chatting instead of listening, as I make sure I discuss the material asked on the test during the day.  Is that evil?

  • @DDRGirlie NOT AT ALL! That would totally bring me satisfaction too.

@LadyDi711 I teach first grade and I am repeating nearly the same thing to myself all day long. I often feel bad that they have bear my moodiness more than anyone else.
  • So I teach college math and when I give quizzes I always give them at the end of class(due to some accommodations students have that says they have to have extra time and the fact that if I give it early students tend to leave class early). I was so annoyed when students were complaining about taking it at the end. Well if you knew the material well enough, it shouldn't matter when you take it!
