Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread 1/16

  • @margareth I honestly don't know how I am either. I'm so behind in work. Last week I was a crabby mess this week has been better but man I just want my couch all day.
  • @Sugargirl1019 oh I have some compression socks, I can't live without them. My vericose veins have got worse after both my pregnancies so I'm worried about how this one will affect them. It's a hard thing to explain to people who don't have them!
  • Loading the player...
  • This week is just fatigue and the dreams...oh, the dreams. Even if I sleep for 30mins. The metallic taste is slowly creeping in.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum didn't set in till 8/9 weeks with my last pregnancy so will see.

5+5 and symptoms ebbing and flowing.
Had bloat and sore boobs when I took my bra off or got up to pee motn but yesterday and today nothing really. Freaks me out!
i am getting up to pee like clockwork now at 4:55-5am, I'm thirsty, hungry, fatigued on the afternoon and insomnia sets in if I wake up motn...vivid dreams still too.
Edited to say: I barely had any symptoms with DD either...mild sore boobs and hurled once from something that made me gag but no constant nausea. Hoping my mild symptoms now are just pointing to being similar to my last pregnancy!

  • @HollyGolightly0: I agree, the Sea Bands get really tight so it's good to remove them at night.
  • @ellemnop90 I think we're around the same stage (7w3d today) and I am feeling myself go back and forth with symptoms too.  Yesterday I woke up feeling super crappy and had two violent vomiting episodes before 10 a.m., and today I woke up feeling fine, just a little out of it!  It's also hard to tell how much B6+unisom and the Sea Bands are helping, not to mention I think anxiety can worsen what symptoms you already have.  Yesterday I asked the doctor if I should be worried if I "lose" symptoms for a while and she said no.  I think we can overanalyze our symptoms and worry if they're not constant (though it's a relief for them not to be constant!).
  • I'm going through heartburn and indigestion woes right now.  I finally caved and went out and bought Tums Smoothies yesterday.  I think they are working but i'm still feeling some residual soreness in my upper stomach.  :(  I feel like water has been detrimental to these symptoms too... but i'm constantly thirsty.  What am I supposed to be drinking if water is hurting me then?!

  • I've been so so emotional. I am like consistently sad or mad all the time. Me and SO have been fighting more than usual lately and it's been really wearing me down.
  • So freaking emotional! So tired. Such sore boobs. I can't stop pooping. It's not diarrhea, but it's not normal, and it's only a little bit at a time. And today, nausea. Nausea has started. Luckily i am 1099 and my only client appointment today is at 5p, so i will be laying around the house until around 230/3p and go to work then. I am utterly miserable. 5wks 5days according to some apps and 5wks 4days according to other apps.
  • This is my 4th pregnancy and I'm a little over 4 weeks pregnant. I feel so tired and nauseous. I never had morning sickness with my other children so the nauseous feeling is new to me.
  • 4w 1d
Headaches and Heartburn...oh my! Tired (like can't barely move) and then insomnia the last few days. Before that a lot of going to bed early. Hungry all the time...like wake up hungry. Also thirsty.
Boobs feeling full and some sensitivity. The past few days I have had a little cramping.

Nausea hits early to mid afternoon every day. Sore boobs off and on. Super hungry all the time and very emotional.

I'm sick right now too, which doesn't help at all. It's not the flu though  (thank God!). But I feel like a truck ran over me. That flu test yesterday was awful. I almost threw up on my doctor...and because I'm on Heparin I got a horrible nose bleed after it!   :s My body is exhausted.

  • Anyone else have the occasional skipping of heartbeats? I have a slight murmur so every once in a blue moon I get the skip where i kind of take an extra breath. I've notice this week i've had quite a few and I know that the extra blood volume can do that...happened with my first pregnancy too. Bit more this time though...just wondered if anyone else was experiencing that this early?

Sensitive nipples, slightly sore breasts, waves of nausea but starving at the same time. Main complaints are slight cramping and low back aching, particularly after working all day. Saw baby and heartbeat today, and all looked well!
  • Sorry if someone mentioned already, I didn't see..

anyone else getting sharp pains in their boobs? It's only on my one side but it's been a constant sharp pain all day. Googled and it said it's normal, but man it is painful!
  • @Texafornian I am having occasional skipping heart beats too. I am also having bouts of my heart feeling like it is going to pound out of my chest. I even called my doctor yesterday afternoon because I was so worried, but her office closes at noon on Wednesdays. I felt too embarrassed to call her emergency line. I have been drinking a small amount of caffeine (like 1 soda a day), and decide do im going to just completely cut it out. I think it makes it worse.

I hope I'm putting them on in the right place (i followed the directions but it's hard to be sure, and it seems pretty precise!), since I know that's important... I had to take them off mid-day today, though, because they were feeling so tight on my wrists... it's weird to see the indentation on your wrists...!

Anyone flying (or has flown before) in the first trimester? I'm flying from NY to CA in two days... really looking forward to it, but a little apprehensive too... any things to keep in mind when flying first trimester? Thanks!
  • Very early symptoms for me includ diarrhea, fatigue and lower back pain. With my first pregnancy I had nausea into the second trimester, and extreme fatigue. I ended up losing 7 lbs in the first trimester with DD.

  • I'm at 7w3d and sadly I don't think my breasts have gotten bigger -- boohoo! Do some women's breasts stay the same size? Or maybe it can take longer for some women? They aren't sore, either, though the nipples were sore recently. I feel shortchanged (ha) and (probably irrationally) a bit nervous about it...! If i could, i would do an u/s every day just to make sure everything is ok... ;-P
  • @stephy_p @Texafornian the skipping you're feeling is most likely palpitations. They're totally normal during pregnancy, I had them a ton with my first! If it gets super bad or you don't feel right you should call your doc but otherwise don't worry, it's totally normal! :)

  • @Texafornian, I have noticed my HR increasing throughout the day. It feels like it is going to jump right out of my chest.

@margareth, I will be flying in late Feb. we are moving across the country in June so we are going house hunting. The only thing you should do is get up and walk every now and then. You can swell, even in first tri. Also, if you have been vomiting you may want to have a bag to vomit in, just in case.
  • I'm 4w2d and today is the first day I have experienced anything that could be pregnancy related. I nearly passed out as I was leaving the midwife office. It freaked me out a little, especially since I had 2 of my kids with me. Then when I got home I had a wave of nausea and exhaustion that hit me hard. I don't usually get symptoms this early so I hope this doesn't mean they are going to be worse than my normal.

  • So my worst symptom this week is major stomach cramps. Well not really stomach, more just above my panty line. I get major stabbing pain for about 10/15 mins and I get what looks like a rash on my cheeks and chest, and then once the pain goes the redness goes as well. Had an ultrasound this week and they said I was measuring earlier than I'd calculated so I'm about 6 weeks. Everything about the ultrasound looked fine and I've had no bleeding or spotting but the cramps are so painful! Is anyone else having anything like this?
  • @k8ywags My Dr said it is normal to have cramps that feel like you are about to start a period, but that cramping may be a sign you need to hydrate more. I was cramping at night when I would get to sleep, and I have noticed it's not as bad on days I managed to drink more.

If you are having really bad nausea, something that helped me a lot with my last pregnancy was Chimes Ginger Chews, I had never heard of them till I saw them in a magazine, but they can really help.

The nausea has hit. And diarrhea. DD is watching a little too much TV today, and eating a few too many snack bars (they're fruit so that's okay, right? ;) ) and string cheese. Luckily DH is working from home today to help a little.
Also this bloat.  :| I can't get my pants on. Ugh.
  • @Emeraldcity: thanks, I will be sure to walk around the plane every so often... won't be tough since I'll probably have to pee every ten minutes! ;-P

    @Breath_Easy92: thanks for the tip.

@Sugargirl1019: thanks, good to know! ;-)
  • Has anyone had just one episode of vomiting so far? Is it possible that it could be the only episode of the entire trimester? FX, as long as that's healthy (I don't think it would necessarily be indicative of something wrong). Mine was Wednesday morning and my stomach still feels so weak from it, I couldn't imagine more throwing up right now... :(

The nausea is getting so much worse. I'm now nauseaous even if I have eaten. I'm nauseous in the morning, at night, and even all freakin night long. It's awful. Yesterday morning I probably would have thrown up if I hadn't willed myself not to so hard. I don't think I'm going to be able to keep this secret for very long and I don't even care anymore! Let people guess I'm pregnant. Cool. I just want to stop feeling like I'm gonna barf 24/7.

Also. My freakin nipples hurt so bad and DS is still nursing. And he has SIX teeth. So that's fun. And I'm so freakin constipated.

    Ugh.

@lap018 lol, yes! I have lemons and strawberries in mine today. I told my Dr yesterday that I'm cramping at night and she said I need to hydrate more... I'm trying!

I'm going to need to try that.  I barely get a liter down a day because the taste and way it makes my stomach feel.
