  • @BigBadWolf12 I'm also underwhelmed by my doctor's at this point.  I don't get to see anyone til my 8 week u/s.  I hope it gets better.

@jillibean0871 picturing your son talking to the baby warms my heart!

@icecubeinthedesert we told our parents within the first week of knowing this time.  With our loss, I thought it was heartbreaking that after so many months of trying (which they knew about), they just found out when we miscarried.  They didn't get to celebrate, only mourn.  Plus, I'm hoping to get all the positive energy and prayers I possibly can this time.

Will post fully in a bit.  Just waking up and not fully functioning yet.  :(

  • @jmn1985 That's a great point about telling early. Now I'm torn about whether I should let them know before I see them all. I'll discuss this with DH, but I suspect he'll want to wait even longer than me. I'm horrible at keeping secrets.

  • @icecubeinthedesert  when is your dd? mine is 9/29/17, but since it's so late in the month I may jump to the October group when it opens. My period isn't due till tomorrow so this doesn't feel real at all!! I found out at only 9 days past O and I felt like I was cheating, knowing so early!! I want tomorrow to come to I can feel 'legit.'
Due with rainbow rainbow rainbow baby on 9/29/17
It's been a long road- Let's just say that!

@icecubeinthedesert oooh, Rome in the spring time is WONDERFUL! in terms of telling people, I'd rather tell people earlier than DH, I think....we're telling our parents this week. Siblings hopefully soon after that, but BIL is coming for a visit at the end of February, so DH sort of wants to wait for him to tell him in person, but I'm like NOOOOOO.....I wanna get it out, plus, this BIL is super chill and I can't picture him giving a reaction worthwhile of waiting until 10 weeks to tell siblings...(our siblings know we had a m/c, so I'd like to share good news with them too)

@jillibean0871 that's too bad about your AW sil....seriously? I would love for there to be another baby in the family at the same time as ours - cute cousin pics and matching clothes....like a wannabe twin haha....squeeee!

@jmn1985 yea, we told my family about the LO we lost right away because we were visiting them and only see them in person once a year. We video taped their reactions and everything, which was amazing, but I haven't brought myself to watch it again since the loss....we lost it before we visited DH's family though, so they just heard about the m/c, which sucked. I also had a really hard time not telling people about our loss after the fact, so a few months later, we did tell publicly that we had a m/c and it was such a weight lifted off my shoulders. For that reason, I'd rather PERSONALLY share earlier rather than later with family, close friends, and people in our department at work. Not a facebook announcement or anything, but in person things. DH is more skeptical, so we'll see. I want us to both be comfortable.

@Becky012016 I live in Europe, so I'm an outlier, but paternity and maternity leave are grouped as "parental leave" - a singleton pregnancy (not sure if there's anything extra for multiples?) gets 400 something days split evenly to each parent. A certain number (20-30 ish?) HAVE to be kept by that parent, but the rest can be given over, but the closer the balance, the more benefits you get from the government.

  • icecubeinthedesert and Raincity I hope you both stick around here some too even if you join the Oct board. My EDD is 9/27/17 So it would be nice to have end of the month company! :)

BigBadWolf12 Thank you for starting this!
The paternity and maternity leave sounds wonderful! I will get 8 weeks at least but might try to request up to 12 (mostly unpaid). I am betting my DH will only get a few weeks (unpaid) due to finances but if we can swing it we might see about him getting longer.

Where in CA would you look at traveling? I kinda love CA but then again wherever you are in EU I am sure is pretty darn amazing!

Also could you tell me how you put your signature as a spoiler? For the past many years I have been stalking boards and it has been really helpful for me to be able to read peoples TTC histories, meds etc so I don't want to get rid of everything (though I already have simplified it a lot) but possibly its annoying to have such a long signature attached to every reply I make.

icecubeinthedesert I love the show this is us! Italy or Hawaii both would be amazing! I loved both but honestly Italy was so dreamy I would recommend that 1st. We went in May I believe and did Northern Italy. Such good food and beautiful walled cities! I adored the small towns!! So magical! Oh good additional suggestions for the check ins' :)

@becauselove dh and I are from Ontario so we'd be visiting family and friends within a 300km radius of toronoto.

When end you're typing a post, at the top there should be a button for formatting (bold, italic, etc) highlight the part you want in a spoiler and click the paragraph button (looks like a backwards P with an extra line) and the last option will be spoiler.

hope that helps! I'm addicted to spoilers....probably bc I tend to be long winded and I'm embarrassed by it :D

    Uff Da....my MN is showing.

jillibean0871 What are you doing about your headaches and heartburn. I could barely sleep last night cause my heartburn was so bad (even with eating tums). That is so sweet about your 2 year old talking to the baby every day! :) And I love what he is saying. Hysterical!

Starla  NYC in the spring sounds lovely!!

Becky012016 That is rough about your DH not having enough time to be able to even spend the whole time at the hospital with you. Paternity/Maternity leave stuff is so crazy. Where I live there isn't even really day care options at this point (they are all full) so for a lot of mom's especially its really hard to be able to go back to work...or deal with work when most places where I live don't give maternity leave at all, or give very limited (and unpaid). When you say upper...do you mean the UP of MI? :)

spiderlover25 Excited to hear news about your 2nd US. Glad that your numbers are looking good!

Raincity I can't even imagine waiting to go to the dr for 8-10 weeks. I would loose my mind. I hear ya about being nutty as we wait to see what happens and totally understand! I was worried my DH would be in denial...as he has been through the whole IVF/FET process just trying to not get his hopes up again but after our much better Beta this time around he seems more excited and hopeful...which helps me some.

  • How far along are you? 5+0!

Anyone have an appointment this week? Not until February.

Cravings/Symptoms? Sore boobs, very tired (i just woke up 5 hours ago and I'm ready for another 8+hours of sleep), emotional

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm trying to teach myself R (a statistical software) and my brain is turning to mush.

Questions? any AL folks- are you going in to the u/s with a positive attitude or expecting the worst?  I've been struggling lately and at this point am the latter.    :/

GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? My SIL is supposed to be getting married in Utah (possibly in August? day is not set) so that would probably be the extent of our travel this year.

  • @BecauseLove I've just been suffering through it. Water was giving me heartburn for about a week and it was completely annoying but I wasn't sure if Zantac was safe this early on and Tums make me worry about constipation so I decided to do nothing.
  • @BecauseLove bump cut me off.... but about Zika... I asked my OB about this bc we are going to the beach (Delaware) over the summer.  Her response was "if the mosquitoes are in Delaware you won't be going!" She said she checks the CDC site daily and if they have reached Delaware and are transmitting the virus she will recommend I don't go.  Sad but true it's a real concern.  She did also say she'd recommend DEET at this time, because we are aware of the potential issues with DEET and there is still too much unknown with Zika.

So i guess its a waiting game!
  • BigBadWolf12 Thank you for the directions!! I got the spoiler to work...but interesting it won't let me leave non spoiler highlighted stuff at the bottom as my signature (it includes it into the spoiler). Oh well for now.

Oh Hey...my boarder is Ontario (along with Lake Superior). Have you ever been to Thunder Bay?

ColoradoHiker  Oh moms... :) My mom paid for IVF so I don't get to threaten her with much :) We will get to know the gender roughly week 6 being we did genetic testing...I think my DH and I are going to keep that our 1 and only little secret for awhile at least. Thank you! I hope you the nausea gets more manageable..ouch.

RedBreast35 We never went on a honeymoon either...kept saying we would do it when things slowed down. I hope you get your babymoon/honeymoon combo!

jillibean0871  I don't know how you do it. About a hour after I drink or eat anything the heartburn sets in. The only thing helping at this point is tums. I am on meteformin so already have a ton of GI crazyness so I guess if the tums back me up a little that is better than the burning esophagus for me. Zika is the worst. Takes all the fun out of planning travel. Better safe than sorry. I am glad that wear I live at least doesn't have any concerns. Though seriously dreaming of laying on a beach in mexico is what I am really craving!

    Sugargirl1019 7weeks that is awesome!!

jmn1985 TW: we had our CP early so at this point I am just hoping I avoid spotting which was the start of the end for us last time. I hope once you get to your US that it gives you security! I hear there are some beautiful areas in Utah. Maybe you can extend the visit to have some just the two of you time?

  • @ChefRamsay yes in laws are crazy! Ruins the fun alittle bit.  I keep thinking of what my response will be when the negativity starts rolling in and I'm so afraid I won't be able to handle it.  I think my SIL is most annoyed bc all of our first baby's were born really close but her siblings are all close in age, so if we all waited until someone was finished we'd be having kids at 50! Im just going to say I told everyone 2017 was my year. I wasn't postponing my timing for anything
  • @jillibean0871 that sucks you have to deal with negativity. My SIL is a little different, she thinks babies need close in age cousins or siblings. I'm sure she'll have some comments on our 12 year age gap. I wouldn't really care so much if she was KU at the same time as me (my first and her second are 3 weeks apart) but she already has 7 kids 12 and under that they can't really afford. Plus I don't want to tell her I'm KU because I'm sure she'll try to convince me I should have a home birth with her as my dula, which is NOT happening!

  • @BecauseLove thank you and I'm waiting to hear about your beta's too!
@jmn1985 I went into my U/S this week expecting the worst and so nervous that I was shaking.  I was 5+0 based on LMP (or 5+3 based on O) and saw nothing. My DH can't get off work to come with me next week and I'm terrified that there will be nothing again.  I guess it's just a waiting game though.   My beta's a rising so I can't ask for or do  much more at this point.
@RedBreast35 Yay for doubling for you too!!!  I love seeing all the positive in this thread today!

  • @RedBreast35 yay for awesome betas! I've never been to Maine, but I've heard it's really nice. Where in Maine would you recommend?
  • @ChefRamsay omg 7 kids under 12, that would be enough to make me go crazy!   Yes I could not imagine having any family members part of my birthing plan. Our first son and hers are 6 week apart, these will be maybe 14 weeks apart. So they will be pretty close but really I think it's cute and honestly each of our situations are different, she is in her 20's my other sister in law,who is also pregnant, is in her very early 30's.... I'll be close to 36 when this baby is born(assuming all goes well).  I can't keep waiting for everyone else to have kids bc quite honestly I'd be really old and we all ready have Downs and severe intellectual disabilities in family members on both sides.  I'm not risking my health or that of my child so my kids aren't born right around hers.
  • @MrsVP614 We will be doing all genetic testing they offer and that will be covered by insurance.  Since I'm AMA I believe my insurance will cover just about anything they recommend.  We also have family history of disorders,on both sides, so it's always in the back of my mind.
  • Hey ladies. I hope you don't mind if I join you here. I was only on the ttgp board since November but I recognize so many names here! I fully expected to be there a whole heck of a lot longer.

How far along are you? Just a few weeks. Just got my BFP yesterday and AF isn't even late yet so I'm super edgy.

Anyone have an appointment this week? No. Way to early.

Cravings/Symptoms? I've been super hungry, but that's not terribly unusual for me so it's probably not a symptom. A couple nights ago I had some tugging in my abdomen, which is just the excuse I needed to give myself to test early.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? If my math is right my edd should be Sept 30. I had the exact same dd with kiddo #1 which I think is pretty cool. I'm thinking of maybe jumping over to Oct 17 though because I remember feeling super out of the loop on my last bmb being due so late.

    Questions?

GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon?
With #1 finally sleeping through the night we are thinking about finally taking my parents up on their offer to babysit over night. Maybe just a long weekend to the mountains?

@jillibean0871 during my first pregnancy I craved Big Macs, so I totally get McDonalds cravings! Somehow after pregnancy it didn't taste half as good. Also, I will never understand people who get possessive over being the only pregnant (or engaged, or some other big life change) one.

@Jmn1985 I think 8 weeks or later is pretty typical for someone without a history but if you have a history I would think they would want to check in earlier. Meanwhile your sitting there thinking "I'm pregnant right now and just want to know everything is a-ok"

@Raincity @redbreast35 I like the suggestion of putting the testing gear away. The fear is still there but it takes that extra step to keep testing.
