Re: TTGP Grad Check-in - 19 Jan
Anyone have an appointment this week? I had a very useless "yea, you have pregnancy hormones in you (judging from pee stick they had me do) but no, we don't do blood work here, so just wait and see" drop in thing yesterday at a clinic. Tomorrow morning I have an actual appointment with an actual doctor, but the receptionist didn't ask what it was about and a coworker happened to be in the [very small] waiting room so I didn't volunteer details! So I dunno how useful it will be... Part of me is thinking I should have gotten myself a family doctor here last year when we moved here...oh well.
Cravings/Symptoms? does craving sleep but having insomnia count? I want more symptoms...I won't feel good until I feel horrible.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? so happy to be here with you people
Questions? none yet.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? We are trying to decide whether to go back to Canada in the summer for a few weddings and to get a bunch of baby stuff b/c it's cheaper than Europe where we live now....buuuuut we also want to go at Christmas with LO, maybe....and DH's family was going to come visit in the summer or Christmas, so i dunno how that will end up working out. Plus we'd want to get flight cancelling insurance in case we have to cancel our tickets if my doc says I can't travel at the last minute or something... who knows.

How far along are you? 3+5 according to O date. It doesn't even feel real yet, as I still haven't missed AF.
Anyone have an appointment this week? I didn't get a chance to call the new OB yet. I'm going to make that a priority today.
Cravings/Symptoms? It's so early for me yet, and my only symptoms so far are slightly heightened sense of smell and some pulling in my low abdomen (and I had possible IB on Saturday, though it could have been from shaving down there earlier that day).
Rants/Raves/Randoms? Anyone watching This is Us? I really like it despite it being a major TW. I suppose now I will be able to really enjoy it. I also just put 2+2 together and realized the dad is Jess from Gilmore Girls (which I also an researching).
Questions? How long are you all waiting to tell your family? How about your work? I think we may wait a bit, bit because of our previous loss and the fact that we will see all our family in person over the course of 3 weeks (between 9 and 11 weeks I think)
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? We had been talking about taking a big vacation for the last couple weeks. Haven't done a vacation just the two of us since our honeymoon almost 5 years ago. And as a hopeful "last hurrah before have kids." We are thinking about Hawaii (maybe Maui) or Italy (Rome?) In April or May for about a week.
Bonus Question: in addition to fun GTKYs, could we add another pregnancy stage specific question? Thinks like announcements, will you be team finding out or green, birth plans, etc?

Anyone have an appointment this week?
i had an appointment last week, it happened to be my yearly. My blood work was done Monday and doctor said levels look great (tho she didn't tell me what they were). Scheduled my dating ultrasound for 1/30, so we are just patiently waiting to see our little baby!
Cravings/Symptoms?
This has gone back and forth. Earlier symptoms, heart burn and headaches. Currentlu just some nausea through out the day...
Cravings: McDonald's Cheeseburgers, fruit smoothies and hoagies (which I'm trying to avoid but might end up caving)..,
Rants/Raves/Randoms?
We are trying not to tell my husbands family, since my two sister in laws are pregnant and due in June and July. One of them has a bad attitude about other people being pregnant in the family while she is. So since we know our news will
npt be welcomed with open arms, it's currently top secret. With that being said my DH told our 2 1/2 year old that there is a baby in mommy's belly and that he needs to talk to the baby every day. Well he is listening and also sharing the story with other people (my mother, which wasn't a problem really). But it's only a matter of time before he shares with others.
Questions?
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon?
that would be so wonderful but is definitely not happening. Though we will probably take my son to the amusement park a few extra times this summer, since it'll be our last summer as a family of three
Anyone have an appointment this week? I made my appointment for the 30th!
Cravings/Symptoms? Symptoms have really subsided the last two days. All I have now is a little tenderness in the nips and still a bit of a headache.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? Nope.
Questions? Nope.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? I wish! We might go visit friends in NY in the spring. I loooove NYC in the spring!
Bonus Question: How do you guys want this template to be? tag me if you want questions removed, questions added, etc. and I'll fix it up for next week.
I think this is good!

@jillibean0871 picturing your son talking to the baby warms my heart!
@icecubeinthedesert we told our parents within the first week of knowing this time. With our loss, I thought it was heartbreaking that after so many months of trying (which they knew about), they just found out when we miscarried. They didn't get to celebrate, only mourn. Plus, I'm hoping to get all the positive energy and prayers I possibly can this time.
Will post fully in a bit. Just waking up and not fully functioning yet.

Anyone have an appointment this week? Next week! However, it's just with a nurse to do blood work and medical history. I won't see the actual doctor until 12 weeks.
Cravings/Symptoms? Fatigue is the worst, followed by headaches (but those go away when I eat and drink water). No real cravings yet.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm really happen to see so many familiar faces here from TTGP!
Questions? What does paternity leave look like for your SO's? Late summer/early fall is the height of the busy season for him and it looks like he won't even get enough time off to stay with me until I'm out of the hospital.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? Kind of? We had a long weekend planned to the Upper for May so that'll be a babymoon I suppose.
@icecubeinthedesert; we waited to tell DHs family until 14 weeks and we only told his parents and brothers at that time. My family we told around 7 weeks because they know how to keep a secret. We waited so long to tell friends that it ended up being 24/25 weeks when they found out. This time we plan to tell my side around 8/9 weeks, his parents 14 weeks, and the world around viability.
@jillibean0871; that's really shitty that one of your sisters in law is being dramatic about others being pregnant when she is.
@icecubeinthedesert We are watching This is Us and it had me in tears this week... We told our parents over the weekend because they were visiting and we figured we would tell them about a loss anyway. They took it upon themselves to tell our 3 year old DD so now the world will know.
How far along are you? 5+6
Anyone have an appointment this week? I had an U/S Monday which showed nothing but I got my beta's checked Monday and Wednesday. They doubled!!!! I have a repeat U/S Tuesday but it doesn't look like another ectopic!
Cravings/Symptoms? starting to have aversions and my nipples are on fire.. but that's about it!
Rants/Raves/Randoms? My birthday is on superbowl Sunday this year and DH wants to invite people over to drink... but doesn't want to tell our friends that I'm KU... ugh.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? We already have a DD so getting away is hard... plus DH is active duty military so we don't get to plan when we can take vacations.
DD2 born 9/10/17
How far along are you? 4w. I know, it's early. I got a BFP nine days after ovulation so I feel like I shouldn't even know yet.
Anyone have an appointment this week? No. I won't go to the doctor till 8-10 weeks.
Cravings/Symptoms? Actually, symptoms! Sore boobs (different than period sore, like stabs of pain, side pain, denser, weird nipple sensations) and some random stabs of weird sensation, crampy and otherwise, in my pelvis and lower back. I'm also ravenously hungry. The other day at dinner I had a huge slice of cake before dinner, then my entree and half of my husbands, then a side order of mac and cheese, and another dessert. And I'm smelling things like crazy, although I always do.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? ***TW****** I may be completely nutty for a long time. My early miscarriage last year spooked the hell out of me. I've POAS every day since I found out and watch desperately to see if the line deepens. This is not healthy. Good thing I'm seeing my therapist today! *****TW end****
Questions? Does anyone else feel like they know 'too much' to even enjoy these first few weeks?
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon?
DH is in denial and probably will remain so for the first trimester, so no babymoon discussions for a while.
Bonus Question: How do you guys want this template to be? tag me if you want questions removed, questions added, etc. and I'll fix it up for next week
It's been a long road- Let's just say that!
It's been a long road- Let's just say that!
@Becky012016 yeah I'm totally over her madness, however my pregnancy hormones may not allow me to keep my mouth shut. So we figured best to wait a long long time to even tell my DH's family. With that being said it makes me giggle when they say snide/shitty things about "baby fever" and everyone having kids in top of each other. Because they will realize they said those things to my pregnant face, once we do tell. Kind of satisfaction
@jillibean0871 that's too bad about your AW sil....seriously? I would love for there to be another baby in the family at the same time as ours - cute cousin pics and matching clothes....like a wannabe twin haha....squeeee!
@jmn1985 yea, we told my family about the LO we lost right away because we were visiting them and only see them in person once a year. We video taped their reactions and everything, which was amazing, but I haven't brought myself to watch it again since the loss....we lost it before we visited DH's family though, so they just heard about the m/c, which sucked. I also had a really hard time not telling people about our loss after the fact, so a few months later, we did tell publicly that we had a m/c and it was such a weight lifted off my shoulders. For that reason, I'd rather PERSONALLY share earlier rather than later with family, close friends, and people in our department at work. Not a facebook announcement or anything, but in person things. DH is more skeptical, so we'll see. I want us to both be comfortable.
@Becky012016 I live in Europe, so I'm an outlier, but paternity and maternity leave are grouped as "parental leave" - a singleton pregnancy (not sure if there's anything extra for multiples?) gets 400 something days split evenly to each parent. A certain number (20-30 ish?) HAVE to be kept by that parent, but the rest can be given over, but the closer the balance, the more benefits you get from the government.

Anyone have an appointment this week? Friday 2nd Beta Draw
Cravings/Symptoms? Last week I was starving and I also ate a ton of pickles, have woken up starving, having a lot of heartburn/acid reflux etc...but could be just as much because of all the estrogen/progesterone etc I am taking (FET/IVF)
Rants/Raves/Randoms? We both told our families but now our families are wanting to know (and honestly I think they likely both fail at keeping a secret) when they can tell people...both our families (and us) all live in small towns so we know word will get around quickly. Makes me want to announce even earlier than our original plans so someone doesn't out us on FB before we announce. We had been planning Week 8 (Valentines Day or that week) but now thinking maybe after week 6 ultrasound...uffda!
I am super happy that we had a good beta
TW:
but last time (the only other time) I had a positive beta it ended in a CP so its making me super anxious. I am hoping the blood test Friday and the US week 6 will help reassure me. I just hope to avoid any spotting this time around because that will also make me super nervous.
Questions?
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? Yes!!! I am dreaming about vacations. We have a spring family trip with my extended family that I am very much looking forward to. It will likely be the last time in 2017 that I get to leave the state on an adventure. In the summer my business ramps up so I will be doing 3 to 4 times the amount of work I do in the winter but I am still hoping for a long weekend away before we have the baby...maybe over our dating anniversary mid summer.
Can we talk about Zika..and how it gets in the way of fun trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, South Tex, and at times FL...and who knows where else next.
Bonus Question: How do you guys want this template to be? I like this kind of layout. Can we add a spot for people to write if they are having a singleton or twins? Also if this is their 1st or more than 1st child?

BigBadWolf12 Thank you for starting this!
The paternity and maternity leave sounds wonderful! I will get 8 weeks at least but might try to request up to 12 (mostly unpaid). I am betting my DH will only get a few weeks (unpaid) due to finances but if we can swing it we might see about him getting longer.
Where in CA would you look at traveling? I kinda love CA but then again wherever you are in EU I am sure is pretty darn amazing!
Also could you tell me how you put your signature as a spoiler? For the past many years I have been stalking boards and it has been really helpful for me to be able to read peoples TTC histories, meds etc so I don't want to get rid of everything (though I already have simplified it a lot) but possibly its annoying to have such a long signature attached to every reply I make.
icecubeinthedesert I love the show this is us! Italy or Hawaii both would be amazing! I loved both but honestly Italy was so dreamy I would recommend that 1st. We went in May I believe and did Northern Italy. Such good food and beautiful walled cities! I adored the small towns!! So magical! Oh good additional suggestions for the check ins'

hope that helps! I'm addicted to spoilers....probably bc I tend to be long winded and I'm embarrassed by it

Uff Da....my MN is showing.
jillibean0871 What are you doing about your headaches and heartburn. I could barely sleep last night cause my heartburn was so bad (even with eating tums). That is so sweet about your 2 year old talking to the baby every day!
Starla NYC in the spring sounds lovely!!
Becky012016 That is rough about your DH not having enough time to be able to even spend the whole time at the hospital with you. Paternity/Maternity leave stuff is so crazy. Where I live there isn't even really day care options at this point (they are all full) so for a lot of mom's especially its really hard to be able to go back to work...or deal with work when most places where I live don't give maternity leave at all, or give very limited (and unpaid). When you say upper...do you mean the UP of MI?
spiderlover25 Excited to hear news about your 2nd US. Glad that your numbers are looking good!
Raincity I can't even imagine waiting to go to the dr for 8-10 weeks. I would loose my mind. I hear ya about being nutty as we wait to see what happens and totally understand! I was worried my DH would be in denial...as he has been through the whole IVF/FET process just trying to not get his hopes up again but after our much better Beta this time around he seems more excited and hopeful...which helps me some.

How far along are you? 4+5
Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope, planning to call the OB tomorrow to schedule my first appointment
Cravings/Symptoms? Super sensitive sense of smell which is really unusual for me, and mild nausea. Also super tired and not interested in any activities that involve leaving my home.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? just that I'm super happy to be here with you all
Questions? Not yet
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? I would love to but we are planning to go to New Zealand for a month at the end of the year, so the babymoon will probably just be something small and close to home, I'm thinking about a quiet week at the beach, maybe cape cod or somewhere in Maine
@icecubeinthedesert we have already told our immediate families (parents + siblings) along with each of our best friends, since we would tell all these people if it went badly anyway. I also told my boss, who I'm very close to and *tw* knew about my miscarriage in October *end tw* because we were considering letting one of my staff go and it came up in conversation. Also, your babymoon plans sound amazing!
@Becky012016 we have pretty decent parental leave allowance here in Canada, our plan is for me to take the minimum I can (5-6 weeks) and my husband to take 6 months
edited because I hit post too early
Anyone have an appointment this week? Not until February.
Cravings/Symptoms? Sore boobs, very tired (i just woke up 5 hours ago and I'm ready for another 8+hours of sleep), emotional
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm trying to teach myself R (a statistical software) and my brain is turning to mush.
Questions? any AL folks- are you going in to the u/s with a positive attitude or expecting the worst? I've been struggling lately and at this point am the latter.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? My SIL is supposed to be getting married in Utah (possibly in August? day is not set) so that would probably be the extent of our travel this year.

How far along are you? 7+0!! (LMP 7+1)
Anyone have an appointment this week? In one week I do!
Cravings/Symptoms? Nausea all the time, sore boobs, diarrhea, gas, bloat, fatigue. I craved McDonald's yesterday and fuzzys tacos the day before that!
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm so excited to finally see a good u/s next week week! Rant: my blood sugars were awful yesterday. I want to cry. Today we are better so far.
Questions?
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon?
I probably should! It will be SO hard to take time off work though in addition to maternity leave and the PTO used for that. I'm jealous of babymoons. We haven't gone on a trip in forever!

Anyone have an appointment this week? Got my second betas drawn today! 449, and more than doubled from 2 days ago
Cravings/Symptoms? Still just really thirsty, with a side of lethargy and general blah.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? Work has been a little nutso for the last few days and it's been so great for keeping me from obsessing about all the pgal stuff.
Questions? Nope.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? We haven't really talked about it, but we never went on a honeymoon, so hopefully we can do double-duty and go somewhere extra nice!
@BigBadWolf12 and @Basherbaby insomnia is the absolute worst. It's such a cruel joke to be exhausted and not be able to sleep!
@icecubeinthedesert I'm waiting to tell anyone besides my H until it's absolutely not hide-able anymore. I'm just so private irl that talking about it is just uncomfortable for some reason. That's part of why I like it here so much- I can talk about it without the belly scrutiny and social anxiety
@Becky012016 Late summer through January is the busy season for my H too, so he won't be around much. Time off for new fathers is basically unheard of at his job during the busy season and it's infuriating.
@Raincity I took all of my trying to get pregnant things (OPKs, hpts, preseed, BBT) out of the vanity in the bathroom and hid them away in the hall closet so I'd stop being tempted to pee on things. It has done wonders for keeping the anxiety down!
@metrogirl have you been to Maine before? I grew up there and miss it soooo much!
@jmn1985 I don't know how I feel about the U/S yet... I'm supposed get them weekly at my RE's office until they release me to a regular OB, but last time all that did was give me a false sense of security since everything looked great- until it wasn't. It would be different if I had to wait until 8 weeks like most people and would probably depend a lot on symptoms...
Anyone have an appointment this week? Nope, my first appt and u/s are on the 30th.
Cravings/Symptoms? I'm *starving* and have nausea all at the same time. Also, I've noticed my ab muscles are aching all the damn time. It's definitely not from working out, as I only made it twice in the past week. Probably from being a STM?
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm so sick of being tired, hungry and nauseous, and I don't think the nausea has even hit full bore yet. I'm a little worried about that. Rave- I'm so happy we have so many TTGP grads here in S17!!
Questions? I'm good at the moment.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? I'd love to do it, not sure if we will, though. I need all the vacation days I can stack up right now.
Bonus Question: How do you guys want this template to be? tag me if you want questions removed, questions added, etc. and I'll fix it up for next week

@jillibean0871 I hate it when people are like that. You can't get pregnant at the same time, can't have the wedding in the same year, your precious pumpkin can't have a tooth coming in at the same time.. I feel like it escalates, no matter what you do.
@spiderlover25 Congrats on the betas!
@BecauseLove We had to threaten my mom so she wouldn't run around telling everyone. Mom and dad found out at 8w, and she just couldn't understand why we didn't want to tell everyone. Which, of course we did, but not before we were are sure as we could be that everything was okay. GL with your second beta!
@jmn1985 No AL experience, but keeping my FX that your baby is sticky and has a beautiful little heartbeat.
@RedBreast35 Yay for the betas doubling!
I love seeing so many familiar faces here, the last couple of months have been really awesome for TTGP.

RedBreast35 We never went on a honeymoon either...kept saying we would do it when things slowed down. I hope you get your babymoon/honeymoon combo!
jillibean0871 I don't know how you do it. About a hour after I drink or eat anything the heartburn sets in. The only thing helping at this point is tums. I am on meteformin so already have a ton of GI crazyness so I guess if the tums back me up a little that is better than the burning esophagus for me. Zika is the worst. Takes all the fun out of planning travel. Better safe than sorry. I am glad that wear I live at least doesn't have any concerns. Though seriously dreaming of laying on a beach in mexico is what I am really craving!
Sugargirl1019 7weeks that is awesome!!
jmn1985 TW: we had our CP early so at this point I am just hoping I avoid spotting which was the start of the end for us last time. I hope once you get to your US that it gives you security! I hear there are some beautiful areas in Utah. Maybe you can extend the visit to have some just the two of you time?
metrogirl Going to New Zealand sounds amazing!!

@jillibean0871 Ugh your SIL sounds like a TW. I also don't want to tell DH's family because of my SIL. I'm more worried about her running off and getting KU as soon as I tell her, because God forbid someone else have some attention.
@Becky012016 I'm worried about my H's on call schedule getting changed for the week of my due date.
@jmn1985 I'm not kind of scared for my first U/S. I really don't think it will calm my nerves either because I had a 'good' u/s before I had my MC.
@Sugargirl1019 I don't have a fuzzy taco around me, so Everytime I see someone mention them I wanna gag because I picture a moldy fuzzy taco.
How far along are you?

@jmn1985 I went into my U/S this week expecting the worst and so nervous that I was shaking. I was 5+0 based on LMP (or 5+3 based on O) and saw nothing. My DH can't get off work to come with me next week and I'm terrified that there will be nothing again. I guess it's just a waiting game though. My beta's a rising so I can't ask for or do much more at this point.
@RedBreast35 Yay for doubling for you too!!! I love seeing all the positive in this thread today!
@Sugargirl1019 DH just shook his head at me and said "Ah, you're pregnant" Because I don't cry at much usually.

@icecubeinthedesert We love This is Us. Watching the most recent episode tonight, so I'm sure I'll cry!
How far along are you? 8 weeks!
Anyone have an appointment this week? My first appt was yesterday. U/S was first, which was awesome! We saw our little frog looking baby, with a heartbeat of 155. Also took a pee test, had blood drawn, and answered/asked lots of questions. DH went with me, and it now feels real.
Cravings/Symptoms? Different cravings everyday. Trying to get better control, but it's hard.
Symptoms haven't been too bad. Sore boobs, some indigestion, some nausea when I get hungry, and vivid dreams. But I feel lucky.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I tell myself now that I can't wait to get a bump, but I'm sure I'll be annoyed when every old lady in the grocery store starts making comments.
Questions? Has anyone done genetic testing? I have some family history of genetic disorders, so we are looking into it to be as prepared as possible.
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon? DH is freaking out over saving up money, so I don't know if it'll happen, but my family is planning to do a beach trip when I'm at week 30. I want to go, because I think it'd be nice to relax before things ramp up.
Bonus Question: How do you guys want this template to be? tag me if you want questions removed, questions added, etc. and I'll fix it up for next week
So far, so good!

How far along are you? Just a few weeks. Just got my BFP yesterday and AF isn't even late yet so I'm super edgy.
Anyone have an appointment this week? No. Way to early.
Cravings/Symptoms? I've been super hungry, but that's not terribly unusual for me so it's probably not a symptom. A couple nights ago I had some tugging in my abdomen, which is just the excuse I needed to give myself to test early.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? If my math is right my edd should be Sept 30. I had the exact same dd with kiddo #1 which I think is pretty cool. I'm thinking of maybe jumping over to Oct 17 though because I remember feeling super out of the loop on my last bmb being due so late.
Questions?
GTKY: Anyone thinking of doing a babymoon?
With #1 finally sleeping through the night we are thinking about finally taking my parents up on their offer to babysit over night. Maybe just a long weekend to the mountains?
@jillibean0871 during my first pregnancy I craved Big Macs, so I totally get McDonalds cravings! Somehow after pregnancy it didn't taste half as good. Also, I will never understand people who get possessive over being the only pregnant (or engaged, or some other big life change) one.
@Jmn1985 I think 8 weeks or later is pretty typical for someone without a history but if you have a history I would think they would want to check in earlier. Meanwhile your sitting there thinking "I'm pregnant right now and just want to know everything is a-ok"
@Raincity @redbreast35 I like the suggestion of putting the testing gear away. The fear is still there but it takes that extra step to keep testing.
