Well that sucked. Things are not good.

The procedure was supposed to take less than an hour. It ended up taking almost 4 hours. The doctor (my first time with her) said that it looked like I had a big chunk of retained tissue that got infected and my body walled it off. In the process of walling it off, it also walled off one of my fallopian tubes. They couldn't even visualize where the tube would be. They say they removed all of the retained tissue, but I need a second hysteroscopy in 6 weeks to re-evaluate things and look for that fallopian tube. In the meantime I am on hormone therapy for the next month and I have a foley catheter in my uterus (a balloon) to help prevent scarring.

This is making it seem like the previous doctors have a case of malpractice on their hands for failing to make this diagnosis months ago, and failing to do a follow-up ultrasound 9 weeks ago after my first D&C.

One more update before I hide under a rock for a while...

I had the "balloon" removed today.
Pathology report: Retained Products of Conception
HCG is now normal <2 - that's about the only good news.

Doctors changed their plan after consulting specialists. I'm out for 2-3 cycles as they want to give my uterus a chance to heal and develop normal endometrium before they will even do an HSG or follow up hysteroscopy to see whether my tubes are patent. I'm frustrated. About ready to give up on having kids.

@CAdreamin13 - Like you, I've been on a bit of a bump hiatus. I did a more lengthy check in here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/comment/89561307

It has been a very rough road. Three weeks to wait until we know more about my condition.

    How are you?

@CAdreamin13 I feel exactly the same in the regard that the first mc I was sad/devastated, and the second one made me angry/bitter. Ugh. I hate feeling angry and bitter. Anyways, good luck with deciding how to proceed. It's not easy.

I think I went through a similar process @Uhlease13 @CAdreamin13... when we learned we were losing the singleton, we were sad, but we were so focused on the twins. When we lost those we were devastated and then as the failure to catch the RPOC happened, we became angry. Very angry. I don't know whether we will have the strength to go through another loss either, or another complication from this current miscarriage, but hopefully that won't even be an issue.
