Re: Randoms/Chatter week of 1.9.17

  • A small piece of advice for those of you planning your nurseries. I wanted a traditional rocker and not a glider. It was my big splurge. Well, the nursery is carpeted and it was a huge mistake. You can't rock without sliding into the wall behind you. And now the wall has several holes in it.
I was like Goldilocks with my chair for DD's room- took me forever to find something comfortable that was tall enough in the back to support my neck.  I LIVED in that thing for months.  Sorry you rocker didn't work out!  If you're looking for a new one this time, mine is a glider that swivels 360 and the ottoman glides too.  SO COMFY!

Guys I think mrswilson is back.
Check out the HDBD thread.  One of them looks familiar and seems to have the same phone case she had last week...
I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure.

ETA  - just did some research (cause her pics are still up on the old HDBDs). I am pretty confident it's her. Time frame fits, phone case same and she has the same 'build'. She was smart enough to take it in a different room (or different angle at least) but the floors are the same.

  • And a quick google search of the new name makes it even more obvious. Just sayin...

How funny to what is being talked about just above me...I saw it and was like 'here we go, girlfriend can't resist a HDBD pic!!!' LMAO

eta: I could care less but I do find the whole thing kind of hilarious. Hehe
  • I say let sleeping dogs lie. We all know it's her but we don't have to engage! I don't want to see anyone else banned.

  • I am rather curious about the rake-like thing next to her foot in the nursery. It seems like it would be a good story but I think nothing can exceed my own imagination.

and the plastic butter knife (at least that's what I think it is lol). So many unanswered questions!!! lol

  • Good eye @Rae1, my mind immediately now assumes she is planning on housing her child in a zen sand garden with plastic cutlery as decor/statues. I believe it is an ironic play on our busy yet modern lifestyles. Hurry up and relax, work hard for convenience.
  • I went to my doc on Monday... My ultrasound is scheduled for Feb 7th I'll be 18 weeks and 4 days... I cannot wait!!! They also scheduled my c-section for Mon July 3rd!
  • @ashaw512 got the ban hammer
  • WTF? @ashaw512 was my go to for snark and truth. This is why people left the bump two years ago, banning good people and letting all the drama in that only care for a one-time posts or stirring up issues.  I swear they care more for a bunch of random people to come and ask stupid questions and leave than they do about the true members of their community.

  • Was just coming here also to ask about @ashaw512 when I noticed the change in the never have I ever thread. What's the deal? After the moms bullying moms and now this, TB is really starting to raise my blood pressure lately.

Also, mrswilson being back is hilarious. I agree with giving her a second chance. She must not think we're that nasty if she cares enough to create an AE to hang out with us lol.

I'm so jealous you can plan and know exactly what day/time it's going down, as weird as that sounds. I'm a STM so now I have to figure out who can watch LO at a moments notice(possibly at 1AM like last time I went into labor). And my DH was on nights when I went into labor so I was contacting him and he was trying to tell me I could wait until 6am when he got home. Lmao umm nope. He finally came home when I said well I'm going in without you!!!! That got his attention. In his defense, he was new to his job and didn't qualify for any time off or fmla, so 3 days was all he got. If he left even 1 minute before his shift was up, it counted as a whole day! He was scared to waste a whole day on false labor. Luckily it wasn't false!
  • The bump gods care about traffic to the app and site more than our community -- it's a company that needs traffic to make revenue. It's annoying but it is what it is.

I happened to see the words buffalo chicken in some thread last week.  No idea which thread or who posted it but since then I have been obsessed with Buffalo Chicken wraps.  I have had at least one per day (usually for breakfast because I can't wait until lunch) and don't see the obsession ending anytime soon.  Ran out of chicken yesterday and I'm going out of my mind.
    Oops, sorry!!!  :#

Hahaha I will tell DH you say sorry when he heads out in the -4 degree weather to get me some chicken.
  • So so sad that my fellow Louisiana girl is banned!! Come back @ashaw512 , we miss you!!!

Between this and the llama drama thread being shut down, I'll go ahead and call this a bad week in Bump-land.
  • Her August intro with her new name was pretty obvious that it was her.  I didn't want to out her- I vote give her a fresh start.
I did... in July '17 after rolling my eyes so hard for a year in June '15.

I think it's hilarious and sad. Not bothered, though. She wakes up every morning as the woman she is. As my mother always said, that's punishment enough!
  • @virginiaunicorn11 wait you knew her from another BMB?? we need more details than that lol

  • @Rae1 a few of us were on her June 15 BMB. Notice none of us exclaimed in happiness to see the familiar name as we did with each other. Just not my cup of tea DATS IT.

Fair enough!  Lol "that's punishment enough" sounds like my mom's version of "bless her heart."

  • Swinging back in after my appointment. Breathing a sigh of relief--they did a scan and we saw the baby, so I'm officially past my loss milestone, and I should have the materni21 test results at the end of next week.

Random question: Is anyone familiar with Nissan XTerras? I LOOOOVE my truck, but it's a 2005, and it will likely die soon (I will drive it until it does--I only drive it 10 miles a day--I honestly MAYBE put 3K miles on it a year). They stopped making XTerras in 2015. Right now, if my truck were to die, I would look for a used one, but are there ANY options that:

    A) have a third row
    B) LOOK like an xterra? I HATE the rounded style of SUVs now...I like the style/shape of the XTerra, and honestly, I can't find it anywhere other than a Jeep, and I'm not getting a Jeep.

  • That's very sad about @ashaw512 :(
  • @SPurp13 What about a Tahoe or Suburban?  They are huge but they have a third row and more of the box look rather than rounded.

I love my Santa Fe with a 3rd row but that's probably the rounded look you don't love.

  • @OperaSingerMommy I like those, but MAN they look huge. (I know, probably anything with a 3rd row IS) Plus, I'm trying to find something not over 40K if at all possible, but I may lease, since I HARDLY drive anywhere but work.

I'm thinking maybe a 4runner? That might be my closest bet. I don't love Toyotas. I LOVE Nissans. I'm so sad. They just got rid of the Xterra and didn't even replace it, so it goes from one size to the next, and it's a huge size difference.

If you love Nissans, you can get the Rogue with the family package- it has a third row.  I didn't love it because it's pretty crammed.  Consumer Reports said it was 16 inches shorter than other SUV's.  2nd row captain's chairs plus and optional 3rd row was a huge selling point for me so we looked at the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Chevy traverse, Kia Sorento, and Hyundai Santa Fe.  The Santa Fe was the least expensive for the captain's chair option.  Those all might be more rounded looking but check them out just in case!  I think they'd all be less than 40K.

I would LOVE a newer, not brand new, Honda Oddsey! I'm just shocked at how much they still go for.
