How far along are you? 10 weeks today

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? I have one on Thursday! I am excited to go back in and get more done. I know its not all going to be fun, but even to just hear the heartbeat will be awesome!

Cravings? Peanut butter! and Ive been kinda wanting ice cream, but havent had any yet. Im hoping that I wont get too into it, so I can avoid the bad for me foods.

Rants/raves? Double digits this week! Plus 25% of the way! Now that I have passed my MC date, I am so much more excited about this pregnancy!

Questions for FTM, STM+? I know this has been discussed many times, but when did you start to buy maternity clothes. I am having a hard time justifying it right now, becuase its January, but by the time Im bigger, it will be spring/summer and thats a completely different wardrobe. I just dont know what to do about my need to not be in tight pants!

GTKY: What is the meaning behind the screen name you chose? If you take off the little and add my first name in, thats my nick name that was given to me in high school and somehow stuck. The 2010 is the year I graduated from college.

No next appointment is at the end of the month. Can't wait!

Cravings?
Really not craving anything yet. Having a serious vegetable aversion though lol which I hope goes away so I get some healthy food in!

Rants/raves?
Omg we got our home doppler yesterday and although it took me awhile to find, we got to hear that precious heartbeat for the first time. I could listen to it all day, everyday

I can't sleep at all, I fall asleep for maybe two hours and that's it. I get so exhausted all day long!!!

So FTM is first time mom, right? That's me, so here we go.

How far along are you? 10 weeks 5 days

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Today! First ultrasound! Everything's normal! The baby's profile looks like my husband's! Woo!

Cravings? Burgers and ice cream.

Rants/raves? None today.

GTKY: What is the meaning behind the screen name you chose? I'm mildly obsessed with Jensen Ackles and the show Supernatural, so that's where Dean's Girl comes from.

littlebug2010 try a Bella Band. I got one off Amazon and my girlfriends swear by them. Luckily most of my wardrobe is skinny jeans and flowy tops. I haven't needed the band yet but I'm told it'll keep you in regular pants for quite some time.
Also, what I plan to do is stock up on maternity tank tops and t-shirts. I have a huge cardigan collection already so I plan to just upgrade to maternity tank tops and keep layering on my cardigans. Should bridge the winter/spring and office-appropriate clothing seasons, I hope.

@littlebug2010 that was so nice of you to start this thread. I totally get that you don't want to own too many thread starting responsibilities (I feel the same way). Hopefully someone else will volunteer

To answer your actual question about maternity clothes, thinking back, I remember starting out with one of the belly bands and hated it (I'll have to look at my bump pictures from my first to see when I really started wearing it). Then I went to maternity pants and tops. I went to GAP when they had all their winter maternity stuff on a big clearance since I still needed long sleeves for spring here (you're in Boston so that's work for you too). I'll tag you again later when I look at my bump picts and have an actual timeline for you of when I did actually start wearing them though.

@DeansGirl14 thanks! I just ordered some bands off of amazon! I got a two pack! My biggest problem is that with the hair tie or nothing, some shirts are fine, cus they are long, but I have plenty that arent that long or are tighter, so you can tell through the shirt. I also just noticed a hole in my jeans

They are my favorite jeans too! I guess I will be out this weekend to get a new pair. I might go for one of the ones that was mentioned (I think it was in the sunday ticker change).

@bumpybump thanks! Im going to give the belly band a shot, with my thinner shirts that will show more, and look for a new pair of jeans, and maybe buy a size up for room. But good tip about Gap. I have a factory store near me, so I might have to check that out soon to see if there are any good deals!

@littlebug2010 I also really hated the bella-band. It kept moving on me. I'd say go ahead and buy maternity pants. Or, see if you can borrow a few pairs from a friend/relative. If you buy, you can re-use or sell them later on. Plus, there are several times in the spring and a few times in summer when nights/mornings are cold and you might want pants. It's justified.

@PeachyTeachy Thanks for the reassurance. I guess I never imagined that at 10 weeks I would be this uncomfortable in my clothes. And I feel ridiculous buying maternity clothes when I don't look pregnant at all. But I might have to suck it up and just go buy some!

The funny thing about the thin shirt complaint is that hopefully, in a few more weeks, we'll be more out-of-the-closet about our pregnancies- and showing the bloat/bump won't matter. I went to a party on Saturday night and wore a loose silky top and blazer. There were a few other shirts I could have worn, but those put the bloat on display. That would have been fine by me if this crowd knew about my pregnancy, but they didn't! So I had to find an outfit that still looked normal.

I totally know what you mean. My boss knows but no one else does, and really the only reason he knows is becuase he sits across from me and I have two appointments this month so I will be late those days. I am really looking forward to letting the bump loose, but right now I need it to stay under wraps.

@littlebug2010 I looked up my bump pictures. I tried wearing the belly band thing for two weeks before I gave up (honestly, looking back at the pictures, my clothes looked like crap over them). I started the Belly band at 18 weeks. I switched to all maternity pants at week 21 weeks (I had some "normal" pants that fit a little bigger that I wore up until then).

I already do one of the weekly check-ins and feel like its a lot to take on to have 2. Its super easy to start the thread, and you can really just copy and paste what you did from last week, and change up the GTKY. I copied one from another BMB and added in the cravings part.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had one last Wednesday and it went great. Got to see the little bean bouncing around which was adorable. Next one is the 27th - can't wait!

Cravings? Mexican! I would eat sour cream with a spoon if it weren't weird and disgusting.

Rants/raves? Woke up to some brown spotting today which freaked me out... I know others have said spotting is totally normal during pregnancy, esp during the first trimester but it's still scary! My OB said because it's dark brown and I haven't had any cramping, it's likely old blood so nothing to worry about. Rave - got to work from home today.. Yay yoga pants and greasy hair!

GTKY: What is the meaning behind the screen name you chose? Back in college, our assigned email addresses were first initial, middle initial, and first 4 letters from your last name. Super random, I know! I was so used to typing it in for 4 years it just kind of stuck with me haha. 2012 (i.e. the 12 part) is the year I graduated from college.

How far along are you? 7w3d

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Last week I had blood work done and an u/s due to brown spotting. Everything looked great and the spotting was likely leftover implantation bleeding. For some reason I thought that 6weeks+ would be too late for implantation spotting but clearly I was wrong about that.

Cravings? Apples and Milk are my strongest cravings.

Rants/raves? This all day and debilitating nausea can go jump off a bridge.

Questions for FTM, STM+? How are (or did you) you preparing your pets for this? I'm kinda nervous about how my dog will react... She's a rescue who takes a long time to come around on new things. I'm thinking that some training courses would do us both some good.

Cravings? nothing really sounds good now, especially because I am sick

Rants/raves? I was hit hard with a cold yesterday. I have a low grade fever and feel awful. I'm not sure if the nausea is from being pregnant or being sick?

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? had a viability appt 2 weeks ago and it went great, next week will be our 2nd appt

Cravings? any fresh fruits and veggies (watermelon, grapes, citrus). I usually have such a sweet tooth and we have sooo much Christmas chocolate in our cabinet - but I can't even handle the thought of it!

Rants/raves? My husband telling me that he thinks with all of my symptoms I need to "just suck it up." hahah thanks for the pep talk, babe!

I posted this in my ticker change as well, but thought i'd put it here for any other FTM's and STM's who have been through it ---- We are waiting to tell anyone (parents, close friends, work) until around the end of the first tri... Keeping it just between my husband and I for now -- as best we can! Does anyone worry about how their parents will feel about you not telling them sooner? Especially mothers, when it's their first grandchild? I'm sure they'll just be so excited and it won't be a big deal, but i don't want my mom to feel like she's already missed out on being a support system for 3 months.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? I had my first OB appointment today. I was nervous but he's a great doctor and really made me feel at ease. I love seeing the lil heartbeat.

Cravings? I have fleeting cravings. Like right now I REALLY want chicken salad on whole wheat toast. Lately, I'm loving cole slaw. Ironically enough, my mom said she craved cole slaw with me.

@BlackNYellow saving money on diapers. Cloth diapering saves lots of money, especially if you plan to have more than one and reuse the diapers. You can also buy used ones and bleach them. Disposables wise, I do couponing, especially at Target. Target allows you to "triple stack" where you can use manufacturers coupons, Target coupons, and Cartwheel (as well as earn gift cards). Money saving in general, garage sales and B/S/T sites are wonderful! You really don't need a brand new crib but do make sure they aren't recalled or have drop sides. Your new LO will not know you bought things used and we as parents are the only ones who really care. For brand new stuff, stalk items you want online for a good sale, use Buy Buy Baby/Bed Bath Beyond coupons, and registry completion discounts.

@Knottie1427505306 first of all, you are painful to tag. Editing your username can be done in The Knot and I highly advise you to do so. To answer your question, neither sides of our family have ever been disappointed when we (or my siblings) have waited until the end of the 1st tri to announce. It's your decision, not theirs and they should respect that. It's rather common for people to wait due to the chance of a miscarriage. If others already know and they find out others know, this may make it hard on them so don't tell them others already know. I feel like they'd only be disappointed if there's some form of other "history" causing it.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? I had an appointment last week to meet my midwife and have a basic women's exam (hey, pap smear). We managed to find the baby's heartbeat which was pretty neat!

Cravings? Tonight, it's pizza and I just ordered a large one.

Rants/raves? I somehow tweaked my back and am uncomfortable lying on my back and sometimes when standing/walking. I hope my back heals quickly because I'm over it.

@amandaredinger When you sign into the Knot with the same screen name and password you use for the Bump, you can access your account settings. There is an option to change your screen name, and for that matter, your password. Save, sign back into the Bump with the new name, and voila, you're now MrsR123 or whatever.

@amandaredinger the only way to change your username is to go to the knot and log in with your bump info. There should be a settings section, where you change it. Then you have to log out of both the knot and bump and log in with the new name. That should change it over for you.

How far along are you? 9 weeks and 3 days - Today

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had an U/S on Thursday last week that was great!

Cravings? Fruit - I've had more aversions than cravings but that seems to be slowing down!

Rants/raves? I have to pee a couple times a night and now my 10 month old puppy feels like he has to go out to pee too every time which just wakes me up more and now he should have breakfast at 4am...which keeps me up because we refuse to feed him before 5am when my husband gets up. My fatigue was getting better and now I"m just tired again haha.

GTKY: What is the meaning behind the screen name you chose? Honestly, I made this screen name when I just wanted to track a previous pregnancy on the app (M/C) so it's based on my previous last name. That was before IF and being part of the community. I just never changed it to something more "screen name" like.

Cravings? Started craving everything bagels and sweet things. Other than that, just more hungry...

Rants/raves? Nothing really, nausea is in/out. No puking (thank goodness!). Constipation is still going on, and the fatigue is getting to me.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had an awesome ultrasound yesterday! I recorded the screen the whole time on my phone since my husband is TDY so I've watched it a few times haha

Cravings? Salty food. Sweets make my stomach turn but McDonalds French fries can GET IN MY BELLY!

Rants/raves? Migraine #2 today. Had to nap in my car at work again to make it. I keep losing my vision while on the shop floor and I almost walked into a forklift... not good.
