This is a thread where anyone can feel free to request a chart stalk, second-guess FF's interpretation, or post chart-related questions, regardless of where in your cycle you are. Sometimes FF is wrong. That's where we come in. Get your second opinion here.

Hi again! Sorry I'm so bad at this. I could use another chart stalk.

Here's my chart:

All the open circles are temps taken later than my usual 6:15-6:45 AM wake up. The first 2 open circles are between 7:20-7:50 and the latter 4 open circles are anywhere between 8:30-9:20 AM. If I discard the two high temps at CD15 and 16 FF gives me solid CH:

Does it it look like I O'd? Here is last cycle showing a typical 2nd surge of LH and fertile CM that I oftentimes get:

However I did have 27 and 29 day cycles right after I got my IUD out. Then 2 longer cycles (38 and 40 days.)

While it is possible that you O'd on cd17, I would probably keep HIO another few days just in case given your occasional long cycles. My hesitation is that last cycle, you had a similar CM fakeout with a couple days of watery, then a really obvious O with many days. It could have happened again.

@adirat That's what I was thinking as well. I'm not convinced I've O'd. I'll keep taking my temp and doing the OPKs. I'll try to HIO every other day for another week just to try to get better timing in case this is a fake out. Thanks again!!!

Are there general temps you are supposed to hit during your cycle? Or is it specific to the person? Like, can you see if you have low progesterone (for example) through your chart?

@jmn1985 It's totally dependent on your body as well as how warm or cold the room you sleep in is, if you prefer to sleep in heavy pajamas and sheets versus light, etc. Some people believe that low progesterone presents in your chart as temps near your coverline (in other words, you have a small jump in temps rather than a large one) but it's all subjective. My endocrinologist wasn't concerned about specific temps as long as you have a noticeable change between follicular and luteal phases. That said, your chart can tell you if you have a short LP which can be a result of low progesterone.

@jmn1985 fwiw, I would agree there's too many individual variables to make a direct correlation between temps and progesterone levels overall, or specific temps and specific p4 levels, however the lp length aspect is true, and of course it may be more helpful to look at trends, rather than individual temps or cycles. In my case, I would tend to spot leading up to af, and then my temps would drop off steeply, not a nice gentle curve down. Turns out I don't have low P4 per se, but my levels at the end of my cycle would in fact drop off rather quickly - more quickly than they "should" have, and it was cool how you could see my hormone curve mirror the temp curve that way. I wouldn't go trying to jump to any conclusions though without seeing actual bloodwork.

Help meeee please!!
I know from a blood draw that I Oed, but never got a true positive OPK and temp didn't really jump until today. The nurse said from my 9.6 progesterone level, O was probably several days ago...
Any thoughts? The notes on cd 12 and 13 are for darkening but not positive OPK lines.
And @adirat my cover lines are usually under 97.4

@Redbreast35 Given the bloodwork, I would guess CD12 with fallback rise. While the big temp jump comes CD15, the bloodwork makes me think it was earlier than that. Plus, your fertile CM disappears after CD12. It's possible you didn't catch the surge but with darkening OPKs, it was indeed occurring. I hope this helps! Your timing for CD12 is good.

@RedBreast35 i'm with @adirat I think CD12 with a fall back rise. it fits with CM and those temps are at the higher end of your pre-O temps. This is why I think its not a good idea for RE's to base IUI off of OPK. Same thing happened to @laurad75 sorry you missed out on IUI this cycle, but your timing is still decent

Thank you @adirat and @wabash15! Thankfully, we were starting out with just TI and no IUI this cycle, so I didn't miss anything. But this serves as another PSA for not taking meds without proper monitoring!!

@wabash15 - good memory! @RedBreast35 - true story. I think I have turned one opk since I started tracking last June. It is so frustrating when the timing is so important. I'm sorry.

Hi everyone. I think I am just being obsessive here but may I please have a CS? The random high temperature on January 1 is courtesy of Korbel. If I do a high temperature tomorrow I get cross hairs for Friday which makes sense given opk, cm, general typical O symptoms. What is throwing me off a bit is my post O Temps are typically higher. (97.7 or so). Thank you @dragonfly87 who reassured me that can happen during random months but also this pattern has me concerned I am looking at CD 12 or 13 with a fallback rise? Timing works either way just trying to learn the nuances. Thank you guys!

@WillRunForWine21 I am by no means great at this, and you will have to wait a few more days, but my guess would actually be CD 14. It could be a fall back rise or a fluke temp on CD 13. Typically, most people have a few days of fertile mucus before O and that would lead me to think CD 14, especially because your CM went to creamy on CD 15. What is your average day for O? Do you use OPKs?

@dragonfly87 yes, I use CBAD. I got 4 days of flashy smiley (high fertility) CD9-12 and then a peak on 13. I typically O CD15-17 with one silly month at 13. And typically on the day of the peak opk.

@WillRunForWine21: Oh ok, I see. Didn't realize the "mon" category was for the OPK tracking. Given you said you got peak on CD 13, but your temp dropped on CD 14, I am a bit confused....sorry I am not more helpful!

@WillRunForWine21 I'd say CD14 given it's the last day of fertile-type CM, plus the day after your Peak cbadv reading. Don't worry about historical post-o temps; just pay attention to how your signs line up this cycle, and seeing the overall biphasic sustained shift.

I would also try to mark the Jan 1 temp as "drinking" or "sleep deprived" or something, so the open circle makes it clear not to put too much stock in it. But either way, FF will likely drop you a coverline that treats that temp as an outlier.

Hey all!

I am new and I posted an intro on the newbie thread. I would love to join the TWW or WTO thread but I am embarrassed to say I do not know where I belong this cycle

This is my longest cycle yet and FF never gave me CH. This was a crazy month with the stress of the holidays/work/school/being sick/travel so I am wondering did I just not ovulate? This really does not look like my other charts and I usually O between day 17-23. Temping was a bit screwed up because we were traveling from day 18-31. I discarded the 2 high ones because they were so much later than my usual temping time. Is it possible I O'd day 26-28 ish? I did have the darkest wondfo OPK I have ever had the morning of day 27.

Anyone feel like offering a CS - I really do not know what to make of this mess

@aSouthernYankee It's tough, but it looks like you coukd have an anovulatory cycle on your hands. Based on temps alone, you might guess around CD23-25 because after that, you do sort of see a temp shift (despite the missing temps), except it's still not really a nice rise afterward, still pretty rocky. CM and opks would indicate more like CD28 or 29, but the temps don't exactly support that. Sorry it's so confusing.

You can choose where you feel more comfortable posting, whether that's WTO, since you don't have CH, or TWW if you feel like you're basically waiting for AF, or have definitive testing plans. It is possible to have a false surge with the opks and not actually ovulate, so perhaps that's the case here.

I would suggest trying to keep more consistent CM notes throughout your entire FP, and not skipping any temping days if at all possible, at least until O is confirmed. Right now I just feel like your chart is missing a lot of information that might otherwise be helpful in deciding what's going on. Sorry I cant be more helpful.

I have a couple of questions for the experts!

1. What factors do you find affect your temps to make them lower? Mine often get messed up when DH leaves (no extra body heat in bed), and this week I've had a few days were I woke up absolutely freezing, and had the lowest temps since I started temping vaginally (so mouth breathing isn't an issue). Just wondering what you would do with those temps?

2. Does anyone play with the different detection settings in FF? I was doing that this morning and found that the 'research' setting gave me CH, but none of the others did:

Even though I'm not completely convinced, I think I'm going to leave the CH just so that I can start to expect AF at a certain time (but not worry if I'm 'late'). With DH away for the next couple of weeks, there is nothing I can do if I do O, so I've stopped using the OPKs, and decided to stop charting my CM unless I see something unexpected (like EWCM). I can't help myself, I still temp in the morning, although part of that was to watch and see if I got a temp drop indicating AF coming - not sure that will be useful if things keep on like this.

@Sailing_Mama I disagree with FF, I don't think you ovulated. This could be an anovulatory cycle. I'm glad you at least know your H is gone so you won't stress over it (I hope!), and your plan sounds good. Just keep temping, just keep temping....

@sailing_mama I agree with @eggplantface about your chart. I don't see O yet.

Regarding low temps -- I do find that a cold room drops my temps precipitously (note that I temp orally though). I also sometimes get a random super low temp during the follicular phase with no apparent explanation. I haven't noticed lower temps while sleeping alone versus with DH, though.

@sailing_mama I do play with the settings sometimes, though I frequently leave it on the usual setting. I am with the other ladies I think this is an an-o cycle...sorry

I was planning on posting in the WTO or the TWW but I don't know where I belong. Little background(I posted in the Newb intro but wanted to give the info here as well). I went off the pill in August and have yet to have my period. I met with my OBGYN in December and she wanted to wait a little longer to see if my period came back naturally before inducing it. I've geared up for O several times but have yet to confirm O with temping. FF gave me crosshairs(which would make me 17DPO) but I don't know. I think I'm still annovulatory. I got a positive OPK this week and have had fertile CM and have had several BFNs. A chart stalk is much appreciated and I will take any and all advice! Thank you in advance!

ETA: Testing info & fix chart.

@cbobell2009 I'm not convinced that you O'd. I don't really see a clear, sustained temperature shift as most of your temps seem to hover around where your coverline is. I would just bring it up with your doctor when you meet with her later this month and ask them to kickstart AF for you. Then you can start over and hopefully catch O in the next cycle!

Also, to find your charting homepage through the FF website, you go to sharing and then charting home page and setup. There you can set up your page if you haven't already and also get the link for your page. Here is a couple screenshots to hopefully help you

@cbobell2009 What's with that massively high temp? Drinking? Fever? I wonder if you deleted that temp would FF take away your crosshairs, because I agree with others that it doesn't look like you O'd. I hope your doc helps you out and you can induce AF soon to try to get back to normal!

Hi Ladies,

I posted in TWW, but was hoping to get more responses...so here goes:

Ok, so FF moved my O today from CD 11 to CD 13. I am not entirely surprised, but wondering if anyone would mind looking at my chart for some interpretation. I actually think I O'd CD 12 for a few reasons:
1. I took unisom at night on CD 11 and still had a horrible night sleep with multiple wake ups, so I think that may have contributed to the crazy temp spike.
2. CD 11 was my first positive OPK, but it was the darkest on CD 12 and I typically O about 24 hours after my first positive.
3. I had pretty bad O/pelvic pain on CD 12 and it was done by CD 13.
4. If I experiment with FF and put in a low temp for CD11, it actually changes O to CD 12.
