I love sandwiches so lunch is my thing. Chips in my sandwich are my favorite thing. And hot peppers.
Yes! I love chips in my sandwiches. My latest craving is cheese sandwiches and salt n vinegar chips. Totally going to put chips in the sandwich tonight.

  • I picked dinner because it's usually my biggest meal, and I really enjoy eating. ;) Plus, it's generally my most put-together meal of the day.
  • I picked breakfast because it's easy. Just a bowl of cereal. I hate meal planning with a passion. And with my breakfast is a cup of coffee. Coffee makes me happy :)

I love breakfast especially when I can cook a big breakfast on the weekends. I love sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, toast and juice. It's a standard meal, but because I don't have time to make it during the week, I always look forward to making a big breakfast on either Saturday or Sunday.
  • Ohh, @pshaortao...coffee. How could I have forgotten about coffee? Maybe breakfast is my fave, haha...

  • I picked Dinner, but you all are selling me on breakfast. If only I had more time to make all the yummy breakfast foods I love. I do not like lunch though. If it could disappear I would be happy with that. I greatly dislike packing a lunch for work because I like hot foods, but do not want to put in the time the night before after I have made dinner and cleaned up that mess.

  • Breakfast! I love breakfast food. I think I love it so much because growing up my dad always made a big breakfast every Sunday and I loved it. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, I can keep going I love it all!

  • All about breakfast! I could eat breakfast foods all day. And sometimes do!
  • I picked breakfast because ever since this pregnancy I wake up STARVING! And everything tastes so good. My appetite really falls off around 3 pm so while dinner used to be my favorite, I force it now and it's not as enjoyable

  • I like lunch and dinner depending on the day. I am not normally a breakfast person as I don't care for most of those foods. I feel that lunch and dinner have way more options. I also really enjoy cooking so dinners are more elaborate and I can eat with DH rather than by myself. Don't hate me, but I don't like the taste of coffee.

I'm the same way right now. Half the time I don't eat dinner and just eat a snack instead.

  • I love breakfast foods! I'll even make pancakes and sausage for dinner if I'm too lazy to make anything else. Sundays we usually have bacon and eggs with hash browns and smoothies and toast ... yum!

  • I think I just love food in general, but there's a special place in my heart for a hardy winter meal...pot roast, potatoes (in any form really), a juicy steak, warm gravy, stews, biscuits...I could go on for days.
  • I have to give some props to brunch! There's something wonderful about waking up on a weekend morning, having a bite of toast or cereal to tide you over and making a big meal to linger over. A lot of the breakfast foods you guys mentioned are brunch foods too! Pancakes, meats, biscuits and gravy, potatoes... so delicious! And fresh fruits, maybe waffles, casseroles, crepes, fresh baked bread or muffins... And so filling you don't need lunch. (Except when you're pregnant, and eat again 2 hours later no matter what.)

And I'm not talking about a fancy brunch sitting in some posh restaurant, being dressed to the nines, having mimosas. Brunch at home, with family, with time taken to eat slower and longer, and to make something you don't have time for during the week, can be quite special.
  • @SKZW I LOVE brunch too! Brunch is very "in" right now where I live (and most places I think) so there are a lot of great brunch places popping up that aren't crazy fancy but do great food, bottomless mimosas, etc. Pre-DS DH and I would walk to brunch almost once a weekend and eat delicious food, drink enough to get tipsy, and then walk home and nap/relax for the afternoon.

    Ahhhh the pre-kid life.
  • @RainyDays86: Us too! There was an Irish pub in our old neighborhood, and pre-kid, we'd do the same exact thing. "What are we doing today?"  "Uh, pub?" "No complaints here!" Fast forward three hours... back home, napping. I LOVE these memories!
  • @SKZW , @RainyDays86 ...I SO miss the days of lazy, tipsy brunch with no kids. Distant memory, but those were some good times.

  • @SKZW funny! I'm always on mobile so I forget that my geeky ticker is there.

  • @SKZW excellent! We'll have to discuss our mutual geekiness sometime (sorry for derailing the thread everyone!). IRL my DH and friends think it's cute, but I only have a few people that really share my passion lol.

  • I picked breakfast because WAFFLES!
  • @PghMom412 I've been watching way too much Parks and Rec lately and craving waffles like crazy as a result.

Dinner, because we do family dinner and often DH cooks. He is SUCH an amazing cook. But otherwise, I'd say breakfast in that it is the most important meal for me. I tend to front-load my day with food; that is when I'm most hungry.

That said, dinner is often also the most stressful meal of the day because of the kids. It basically has the most potential but the most downside as well. They could be melting down if they're tired, or, more likely, they are complaining because they're picky about the food, etc. But I like spending time with them, and also in the "dinner" category are dinners out with DH, which are definitely the best meals of all! (We are foodies and only go to really great places!)

ETA -- my least favorite is brunch. I hate that you don't really eat it until lunch time, but that only breakfast food items are usually available (I mostly prefer lunch and dinner items, especially if it's after my breakfast time). I'm so starving if I'm expected to wait until brunch to eat. I always eat another meal first (even if brunch is at a more brunchy time, like 10am.) I'm also not a fan of the wait-in-line-for-an-hour situation you often find yourself in if you go out for brunch in a city. Especially doesn't work with kids. However, what I do like about brunch with kids is that if it's not one of those crazy places and/or you go at opening time (like 10, when everyone else is coming at noon or 1), then you can get a table right away and have a chance to get together with your childless friends  and have a nice meal without getting a sitter. Most kids are also "better" at 10am than they are at, say, an early dinner time (and they're basically in bed by the time you'd go out at a regular dinner time.)
