Annnndddd the Hannah saga continues.... lol. In the end, H has decided against Hannah and we're going with something else. Hannah really is a gorgeous name though.
@Gretchypoo Elizabeth is a beautiful name! Such a classic. Betty is sweet but I love the nn Lizzy too.
************* First BFP: 12/16/13 EDD: 08/23/14 Baby BOY born: 08/29/14
So, we're not officially naming the baby until he is born, but H really wanted to decide on a name this weekend. We're not telling anyone IRL, but tentatively, our little guy will be Theodore Harold. I just love the name Theodore, and Teddy is adorable on a baby. Plus, when he's older he can have his pick of nicknames.
Harold is H's great-grandpa's name (H was really close to him), and we want to honor him. But we couldn't get on board with Harold for a first name, so middle it is.
@fishymom Marie is definitely over used (but it is my middle name and DDs as well) but it still would sound pretty with Alexa/Alex. Of your personal two I like Kate and I think renee sounds good too. Another option could be Nicole as well.
I like Christine too. Maybe because my first name sounds very similar to Alexa (to the point people call me that once in a while) and my middle name was Christine before I dropped it, I am biased. But Renee and Nicole seem to be pretty common middle names in my circle, whereas Christine is a little less used.
@fishymom I might suggest a one-syllable MN, since the FN has three syllables and the LN has two. Kate works and is super cute. Other traditional, one-syllable MNs I thought of quickly were: I had a two-syllable first name and a three-syllable last name growing up, and was always grateful for my one-syllable MN. Here are a few ideas that are traditional(ish) and came to mind right away:
Alexa Jane Alexa Rose Alexa Rae (that was my MN before I got married, so I'm totally biased toward it!) Alexa June Alexa Joy
Thank you all!! I am really excited to nail down a name. I think the suggestion of the shorter middle name is a good thought.. My DD is Elizabeth Victoria so she has a super long name. The next battle DH and I will have is over what to call her more than likely it will be Alex, but we have talked about Lexy or Lexa (which I am not sure is a real name) also.
@FishyMom I like Alexa Rae and Alexa Kate, I'm on board with the one syllable middle names as well! A couple others that may be a little overused are Grace and Mae (or May) but I like them!
I think we have a name?! It's been a battle and I gave up MN rights to family tradition (I'm not a fan but it means a lot). We haven't told anyone yet so this is the first time I'm saying it!
Wyatt Willis (last name sounds like Willis...). I am so surprised he likes Wyatt because he likes very traditional names like Kevin, Simon, and Kyle. But I'm excited
Confirmed. Marie was the middle name of the 80's, Rose is this decades.
:-) I was/am also a bit hesitant about Amalia being so similar to Amelia which has gained a lot of popularity in recent years but dammit I've loved the name for so long now and it's the name of one of my favorite singers for so long now
Is anyone else still undecided on baby's name? I got my husband to go through boys names a few weeks ago and make lists of names we each liked, but we had nothing in common on our lists. I had wanted to do another biblical name, but he hated my favorites, so I'm open to considering other names.
Our mutual list of names neither of us hates (but I can't say I love) are: Oscar Noah Owen Wyatt
Living DS1 is named Isaac. Husband loves Oscar, but I'm still not sure. Thoughts?
@FreshBakedBrownies we had neighbors back 7 years ago, who had a young boy named Noah. At first it wasn't my favorite, but the name grew on me and now I love it! Of course my husband vetoed it, so it doesn't matter lol. I like Oscar ok, and I like Wyatt too. My son goes to school with a couple Owen's, but did you see the movie rat race? I always imagine all those "Lucy's" calling hey Owwwwwwen haha
We finally decided to go with Austin for our baby boy. The middle name is up for debate. We originally liked Reid, but we think using a family name from somewhere would be nice. Family names that have come up are Ronald, Lewis, and Isaac (quickly Shot down). My grandma did write me a list of family names yesterday and I haven't gotten to read through them yet. People keep saying "you better hurry" but we didn't name our DD until we were walking out the hospital door, so to us we still have potentially a month left to decide lol.
@FreshBakedBrownies I know a handful of people who have gone with the name Owen recently but I do like the name! I also like Noah, it seems pretty timeless. We are using the name Wyatt for our guy so of course I like that one too
We are still completely undecided times two (team green). We have each list down to our ten top names... Hoping to get it down to 3-5, with middle names, by the time we head to the hospital.

It was a battle, guys. Then I read Pride and Prejudice around weeks 16-17 and was like... yep, this is what we are doing.
Also, came here to announce and apparently Elizabeth is the rising star on our board -- glad to be in good company.
