I felt baby from the outside for the first time this morning! Not kicks, but there was a hard little bump pushing out from one side of my belly that felt like baby's butt or head or back pushed up against the side of my uterus (I remember feeling DS doing that). H got to feel it too which was exciting. Then baby got annoyed with us poking him/her and swam away.
I'm an FTM with posterior placenta. I didn't have any flutters or stuff (or maybe I assumed it was gas lol). I started feeling kicks at 19w3 and have been feeling them consistently since.

I'm living vicariously through these descriptions. It was like this with DS (#1) -- I could tell when there was a head or butt pushing, or when it was a foot/heel. The foot/heel would be this sharp little poke on one side. The head/butt would be a larger protrusion. With this one and DD, I have an anterior placenta and everything is super muted. I do feel movement but haven't felt it from the outside or seen it yet. I totally miss the posterior placenta!
Finally feeling movements daily! Just like last time (with anterior placenta) by the time I can feel them regularly so can dh. He felt one of them for the first time yesterday!!!
Went from feeling her a couple times a week, to every day, to feeling her on the outside on Christmas! I've felt her from the outside a couple times since then, but she stops before DH can get to me. She has been SO active the past two days though, I'm hoping he can feel her move soon! 20w today
Yaye to my placenta being on "top" and not anterior as I originally thought. I guess I forgot that the initial movements I felt is nothing compared to the kicks and jabs felt towards the end of 2nd tri/early 3rd tri.
@Cubslove12 and anyone else who hasn't felt anything yet: SIL was telling me her friend could not feel baby move at all during pregnancy unless he got the hiccups. I hope you all start to feel something soon

I did find out that I have a anterior placenta so that is most likely buffering her movements. Still anxious to feel her!!
Are movements/kicks ever vaguely painful/crampy? After dinner tonight I kept getting what I can only describe as a pinching/cramping (kicks?) right at the top of my uterus close to my belly button. Seems too high to RLP but that type of quick 1-second (or less) pain and it was happening every 3-5 minutes for a bit. My uterus was soft so not BH. (Not that it would be if it's that short). I still haven't felt any consistent movement (18wks6days) but have had several instances where I thought "thats either baby or gas" so some of those were probably her.
@ShadeofGreen816 I was wondering the same exact thing because yesterday I started feeling weird pains right where I think my uterus is and it was different from anything else. It felt like pressure pain like something is pressing up against you and then there is that lingering achy feeling. I was also very stressed out yesterday, so I don't know if that played a part in it or maybe it's because I have been so desperate to feel something.
@ShadeofGreen816 and @MrsCPALeslie I'm no expert, but to me, that sounds like RLP. I haven't personally felt any discomfort or pain when the baby moves. However, I do get occasional feelings of pressure and pain like you're describing below the belly button. I'm pretty sure it's just things stretching and move around. Maybe a STM+ has a more concrete answer, though.
ETA: The movements I am feeling at this point (at 19w3) are still lower, like bottom half of the portion below my belly button.
It doesnt sound like RLP pain to me. Those are closer to the groins and usually happy when getting up too quickly.
It could be stretching pain or something? Mine is different though. I've had some pain in my upper abdomen in the last couple days and a lot of muscle twitching by my ribs. I feel like I've really just popped so I'm guessing baby/uterus went through a growth spurt and everything is just shifting and stretching. And sometimes that can hurt.
Maybe muscle twitching? It was RLP-type pain but seemed high - close to the fundus of my uterus. Like I said not severe but definitely a pain and not a flutter or something. I also woke up with sudden intermittent urges to pee, but didn't have to go. Similar to UTI type pain but no other symptoms of a UTI. they went away after about two hours. Nothing today though so maybe it was stretching/twitching/dehydration? Hmmm. Thanks for indulging my crazy - AGAIN!
@ShadeofGreen816 I had the same kind of pain but more consistent than you described while I was super busy at work. It was right under my belly button and kinda like round ligament pain but not in the location that usually is. It was better with rest but on a day when I couldn't get any rest at work I got super nervous bc the pain was lingering. That day I started freaking out and one of my OB colleagues checked me out via US and I got a urine test for UTI and everything was normal. I still don't know what it was but since I didn't have a uti and baby looked ok I guess it was ok.
@rkstro2 I was at work yesterday, and while it wasn't a busy day as far as ICU nursing is concerned, I was on my feet off and on for 12 hours. So, I still don't really know what it was, but it did stop. I listened to her HB before I went to bed just to make myself know that everything was good in there! I hope your pain has got away and stayed that way!
@ShadeofGreen816 Could be your abs separating? When pregnant with my first, pain like you describe made me stop any ab work that I was pitifully attempting to keep up with in the first half of pregnancy. I ended up with diastasis recti (separation of the connective tissue keeping your abs close together at the midline) that improved gradually over months after delivery.
@mdlorenz good thought. I really don't know. My only hesitation with that concept is that they were in different places and very crampy almost. Just the pain was more of a RLP quality if that makes any sense. Sharp but extremely quick and totally random, even if I was sitting still. I'm writing it off for now as some sort of uterine irritability from work/dehydration/something random else. It totally stopped after an hour or two and I had none today despite a much busier day (but I was more careful to get 90+ oz of fluids today).
I think I'm starting to feel strong flutters on a daily basis since Thursday especially after I eat. Sometimes it feels like when your stomach drops when driving on a hilly road. I'm 20w5d today by the way
