Hello. We have been TTC for 2 years with one loss about a year and a half ago. We have also done one IUI that was not successful. We met with our RE earlier this week and we are considering moving forward with IVF but we are self Pay for everything which quite frankly, sucks!! There is such a process and procedure in the RE's office that I can't get anyone to quote me a price on the cost of the meds. This will I'm sure, add thousands of dollars to the cost and I would like to know what they are. Can anyone give me some sort of ballpark figure?
Here is what I will be taking:
birth control pills- 3 weeks
any-gonal
cetrotide
ovidrel
progesterone.
Thats all I know from the sheet but I'm guessing there could be more. I'm a total IVF rookie. I'm still reading material every day to educate myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Re: Starting IVF- no insurance coverage- loss mentioned
welcome to the board! Sorry that you find yourself here, and sorry that you're having to self pay for all of this! My DH and I are too, its overwhelming!
My RE's office quotes the meds at a range between $2500-5k on average for a cycle with ER and fresh transfer. It all just depends on the dosage etc that they have you on and how well you respond to the meds/how long you have to be on them before the ER. I know medication costs vary depending on where you live/who you fill through and if you have any coverage for medications (we're all OOP too but are still submitting the medications to insurance to see if by some weird happenstance they will cover any of them, like when I was on Femara they covered it bc it can be used for other things besides IF). My RE's office will submit everything they do in the office to our ins bc they may cover some random parts of it (apparently our provider has always covered ultrasounds, which isn't much but hey any little bit helps). I hope that info maybe helps? Good luck and I hope you and your DH have success with this whole process!
Together Let Us Seek the Heights
CP #1- due April 2017 lost 5.5 weeks
cp #2- due May 2017 lost at 4.5 weeks
iUI #1- BFN
IUI #2-BFN
IVF#1- transfer 2- BFP! Due October 2017 c/p#3 lost at 3.5 weeks
Any information anyone has on that would be appreciated.
My medications were $5600. Clomid, Gonal-X, Menapour, Ovidrel, and there is one other I was prescribed, but can not think of the name at this time. ( The medications should be arriving any minute!! eeeek!)
We are also doing the PGS screening. We are both only 28, but I felt for my nerves I wanted to ensure we were selecting a good embryo. The cost for the testing at my clinic was $2000 to my clinic and then I will owe $2000 to the lab actually performing the tests. Since the embryos will have to be frozen, there is another $2000 fee to unfreeze the embryo for transfer.

I would strongly suggest applying for compassionate care. We did not think that we would qualify but we did! My husband wrote a very detailed letter to include with our application and I don't know if it helped but it couldn't have hurt!
