Re: January TWW

  • @brooklyngirl18 - I'm sorry. I know what you mean though - every time I try something new (like clomid this cycle, or the HSG a few cycles back, or a different, better monitor) I get my hopes up. The more rational part of me is like: "Be cautious! It's probably not going to work again." but my heart is like: "What if?! What if?!" and I calculate the due date, etc. It is the worst!
FX for you that it happens next time!

  • Yep, Everytime we try something new we hope. I had a polypectomy and tube flushing this time, but all I get is BFNs all the time. What on earth is wrong with my body? Is Endo such a devil as to screw up everything inside me? Ugh, sorry for the rant.

@dadezbombz that's great news, you must be ecstatic.

  • @bestofjoy yes. Bfn all the damn time sucks while people get preg left right and center their first try. I feel approx. 0 amt of confidence that this IVF will work either. Argh. :(

  • Fully expecting AF tonight, but my RE's office called and said my CD21 progesterone was "sub-optimal" at 7.9. Is it weird that I'm so excited to FINALLY have an abnormal lab?! The RE said clomid should raise our chances from 1% to 25% so I will start 50mg on Monday!

Like everyone else, I can't help but get my hopes up every time we do something new, but I'm OK with that. This process is SO soul-sucking that it's nice to feel excited about it sometimes. I like to enjoy the brief endorphin surge, even if most of the time it leads to disappointment.

  • @poemasque were you on any progesterone supplements?? Because w/o any I have low levels too and clomid was NEVER discussed. In fact, nothing was discussed. I've just been given things without explanation or question. Is that normal? Is it normal to feel like you're at a cattle call when you go to appts?

  • @PoeMasque I'm with you- an abnormal lab at least gives you something tangible.
  • @PoeMasque We totally get you, knowing something is better than "unexplained". In my case I have nothing wrong at the moment, all labs good, hysteroscopy to clean up the uter, endo removed earlier this year..everything is good, yet one year of BFNs...

@rainbowwishes5 Agh, sorry, yes it happens at the big clinics, you are a number. I went to a big one then a small one, at the small one the attention was customized but they had less experience, so I think it all depends.
  • @brooklyngirl18 How many mature follicles did you have on Clomid? Was it 50mg or 100mg? I only had one on 50mg and I thought it was crap.
  • @rainbowwishes5 our RE explained that because my progesterone is high enough to trigger O, but too low for a good quality egg, clomid should do the trick since it produces a stronger O and thus a stronger follicle (stronger follicle will secrete more progesterone). So the low progesterone is likely just a symptom of the weak O.

what is your progesterone? I figured mine was fine since I turn a positive OPK every month, I only got the explanation above after asking A LOT of questions. I also plan on asking for progesterone for post O support just in case!

Has your clinic put you on clomid? It's cheap and easy to try, it works for a lot of women. I asked for it months ago before I was with this RE, but my OB kept refusing!

  • Hi ladies, I got a negative beta today and am feeling a little down. As some of you have mentioned it's so hard not to get up hopes and think about when the due date might be. It's also so frustrating to have the 'unexplained' diagnosis. My doctor keeps saying how everything "looks good" when she calls with the bad news which sometimes makes it even more difficult to take.
We're moving from IUI to IVF now and I'm at least happy that we have a plan in place and can follow it.

  • @kaseycoco So sorry to hear about the BFN. That sucks. I'm also unexplained, so i understand your frustration about being unexplained. I worry that something potentially simple is being missed as we progress through increasingly invasive treatments. Have you thought about getting a second opinion? I'm thinking about it but also thinking I may wait to complete a single IVF cycle first, and then seek a second opinion if it's not successful.

New Years Plans: Went on a ski weekend with hubby and family.

This is my last cycle doing timed intercourse before moving to an IUI and uping my letrozole dose so I am really hoping this is the month. I had one follicle at 20.5 mm.

  • @notamyrtle thanks, and I do feel the same way that we might be missing something. My doctor suspects mild endometriosis might be to blame, but has said treatment for that doesn't neccescarily increase pregnancy rates. It does irk me a little to have that be an unknown, but at this point I'm going to try 1-3 cycles of IVF (since we have great insurance and also since I can't bear the thought of more testing to delay a possible pregnancy) before getting another opinion.

Hello, This is my first cycle so I'm extremely anxious. We haven't had the best of luck so far..
I started clomid 50mg on December 28 and on day 15 I had my lh surge. We were supposed to have TI, but my husband was sick so we weren't able to do anything until today (day 17) and I was so worried about it that we did it at 1am. I go in on the 23rd for my results, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
  • I'm out this TWW. No BFN but AF arrived 2 days early. :( Hopefully next cycle will be different.

  • I agree with all of you, the TWW is awful!!  There should be a better way...  and reading into every cramp and twinge.  Sometimes I think yes I am definitely pregnant and other times no way definitely not pregnant.  Makes me wonder how people "naturally" or better yet "accidentally" get pregnant when each month the odds are so low.
  • I completely agree! I've had so many friends or people I know get "accidentally" pregnant and I'm just like...how?? I've also got a cousin who is 20 weeks pregnant with her first.  She wanted "a fall baby". So she stopped birth control and got pregnant first try. She's one of the few people who I've shared my story with so her "I've got great news" text message tore me apart. She said she didn't want to tell me but felt like she should be the one to do so. Now she barely talks to me because of it..in my opinion anyway.
  • I know I'm a bit late to the party but it's still January! :)

  • After a sleepless and stressful 2WW I took a pregnancy test this morning and was shocked to see it was positive.  I was so excited!  However, I then went to the dr and they first did a urine test and it was negative. They tested again and said it was a very faint positive. They took my blood and said the beta was very low (9, anything over 5 is pregnant) and I should come back in a few days to test again.  Either it was too early to test because I tend to have long cycles (34-36 day cycles and today is cycle day 28) or I am having a chemical pregnancy.  I am upset and sad. Why does everything have to be so difficult.  I was so happy when I saw the BFP this morning :(
  • @relax&smile2 don't give up just yet! Who knows maybe this is finally it!! My cycles are around 34 days as well and I already bought home tests. I know it's too early (day24) and I really shouldn't have bought them because my blood test is on Monday, but I couldn't help my self. Best of luck to you though!! Hopefully everything turns out okay :)
