@SSminnow426 I was having some pain after intercourse a few months back and after an ultrasound my OB determined I was what she referred to as "kind of a mystery." She recommend that I start tracking everything, including ovulation. I use the dollar stores ones bc it's convenient and cheap for me.... I try starting at CD10. I've also temped in the past mostly to TTA and determine if my period tracker was even close bc I always avoided BD in fertile week. Now that we are TTC I've added temping back into the mix, this will help me confirm my OPK's and give me an even more precise window the following cycle.
@jmn1985 and @spiderlover25 thanks! I am leaning towards giving myself another month or so and then dive into that whole phase. I just don't want to do myself a disservice in case I'm not even ovulating when I think I am or at all.
@kmornelas29 a few of us are testing starting Friday! I know that tired feeling. It's pouring rain here in my part of MD so it's not helping. Here's to hoping you get rested up! Edit because mobile !!! Ugh

@canonmom413 I'm not sure I can wait until Friday to eat

@jillibean0871 I would have never thought of the dollar store! That is a great idea!! I think I will for sure look into it all and maybe dip my toes in. Totally ranting again but where was all of this during school when in health class they make you carry a baby doll around?!?! I feel like teaching us about ovulating and all of that would have been a better use of everybodys time....I feel like this will be my rant for a while.

@bluejeanbabi05 I knew I wasn't ovulating for a few reasons. First, my temperature never changed in a biphasic pattern. I had rocky mountain temps even though I took them at the same time each day. I also would get AF when I never had the temp change, which is technically breakthrough bleeding. Secondly, I have always gotten O pain and the first time I had it since removal it reminded me that I had not felt that in months. Last, I also never had any fertile CM. Once I started getting fertile CM I realized what I had been missing when I had my last cycles. I know the last two aren't guaranteed signs, but temping does confirm ovulation as close to we can without an u/s or blood work. Also, the irregularities of my cycles from 31, 55, 19 and 23 can generally mean you're either ovulating very irregularly or not at all.
ETA: I also never turned a line of any color or darkness on OPKs and figured it just wasn't my time. Seriously, who has stark white OPKs for an entire month (let alone, months). When I did start to ovulate, I would at least have a very faint line that still made the test negative, but showed something to me.
@Flinstone thank you and I'm so glad for you that you are ovulating now.
My RE told me he was concerned I'm not, but I'm pretty much sure I am. Clear biphasic pattern and pos opks same day each cycle, resulting in same length of cycles and luteal phases. He didn't seem to put a lot of stock in temping tho which seemed strange to me.
@bluejeanbabi05 my doctor didn't either! He was floored I was even bothering. There is a lot of human error that can happen in temping, but for me it aligns with all of my other signs that I feel I can trust it.
Also @kmornelas29 WOW go girl I read that originally as three separate BD occasions, now I see you meant every day in between! My hoohah is sore just thinking about it! #goals
@SSminnow426 I see others answered you already but let me pitch in too. We are at month 16 of TTC which is hard. The harder thing is that I kindof beat myself up for not learning more on how my body works sooner. I might have just wasted a couple of months at the beginning and it is just a heavy feeling to have. I figured i did not want to make too much of a fuss of it, it should happen naturally with time (getting KU). I see you are already smarter than me, being on month 1 already realizing what a crappy job school and society has done on educated women on thier biology Long story short: I strongly advise on jumping in right away, temp and do opks for a couple of months so you learn how your body works and when you usually ovulate. It can help a lot in TTC and really the _worst_ case scenario is that you get KU very quickly and did the whole thing in vein - but doubt you'd be upset on those news Understanding yourself is always a good thing i beleive.

@Anna_1021 I appreciate you sharing this because if I'm being 100% honest this is one reason I think I'm going back and fourth on the subject so much. I worry about doing too much but then I'm terrified of not doing enough and then looking back and wishing I would have started sooner. One of my best friends did the NTNP for a year and nothing happened. Then loosely TTC with OPK's for a year but her H lost the interest in a few months and wouldn't get on board so I admit I have a bit of a timid first hand experience. DH is on board with me now but I just don't want to push him too hard too soon but like you said knowing and figuring it out is half the battle.
I am sending so many good vibes your way! Good vibes to all! (This classify in the same boat as a creepy internet hug? )
I 100% agree with what @Anna_1021 said! I spent a good 6 months completely missing my FW and about the first 10 doing the deed wrong *TMI warning* I don't even know how this is possible (again, I blame Catholic school) but I would use the restroom right afterwards, which you're supposed to do.... when not TTC. Finally DH had to be like.... "um, are you sure you're supposed to be doing that?" *facepalm*
@jmn1985 haha I remember the first time we DTD for TTC and I panicked because I was so used to going to the bathroom right after sex to avoid getting a UTI I didn't know what to do.

@jmn1985 and @ChefRamsay I still pee after every time. Is there some link to decrease in pregnancy rates that you know of? I tried to look for something and could only find people saying either it doesn't matter or it doesn't hurt to wait. I might have to try something new next cycle though! And headstands are not off the table either... **TW** I've had 3 prior BFP's and I've never waited **end TW**
@LadyMeowMeow no, but my mom teaches 6th grade math, my best friend 10th grade science and another good friend 3rd grade, so I always try to go out of my way to say thank you to teachers. I am in awe of all of you for putting so much into such a hard, thankless job and actually making a difference in kids' lives
@bluejeanbabi05 I'll test Friday! I'm getting a bit impatient anyway (my period is due Thursday too- so Friday would be a good day to POAS.)
Edit to add that i've been stalking the grad thread- it is way too empty right now! FX Friday brings a wave of grads! Lol- if I get a BFN I want at least one person to get a Bfp so I can be happy about something
@LadyMeowMeow Ugh I wish I could smack all the obnoxious parents you guys have to deal with. My mom had one parent before break who got all upset and sent an email to the principal because my mom didn't immediately respond to an email sent to her on a SUNDAY. People are ridiculous.
@dsmom I know! I love the grad thread and am so sad it's so empty. There were some good ones last week. I'm pretty 99% certain I'll be out this cycle but I can live vicariously through happy news

@SSminnow426 I was the same, didn't want to freak DH out or get him less motivated or anything. Funniest thing: turns out he is so much on board that even willing to discuss BBT spikes with me Of course after this much time it's different. I think a change of perspective might help: getting to know your inner workings does not mean you'd be obsessed with the baby project. If you think about it: after a conscientiuos decision it is an absolutely logical and rational step to extend your knowledge a little bit on how to reach your goal. It's like buying paint after deciding to paint the living room. Okay, like buying a 'Painting for dummies' book You don't even necessarly have to involve DH in this step, it can be your own project. And again, just because you know when you O it doesn't mean you have to stress out on BDing w perfect timing. You can gather data for a couple of months then stop if it's too much. Do what suits you I advise you to learn more about your own cycle because we got so little information on this and there's so much out there. You might be ovulating on CD 9 or 19 and that's a huge difference. You don't want to lengthen this journey unnecessarily, trust me. Ever since we started to approach the calendar 1 year mark I get crushed by AF each month, my soul dies a bit and having regrets does not help. I'm sure you wouldn't get to this point anyway but it never hurts to extra safe Whatever you decide, GL on your journey
@ChefRamsay@bluejeanbabi05@canonmom413 Sorry girls, I'm out But I might keep an eye on you so make me proud and hold on testing til Friday! FX so much for you testing buddies!
