Re: Monday bitchfest 1/2

  • I don't want to go back to our normal schedule.  I enjoyed being around family and friends for 2 weeks.  We moved away a year ago and being home so long made me miss it even more! Boo.

Also I had some pregnancy insomnia last night and it blows.

And then I started off the New Year by taking my kids to McDonald's for lunch while everyone else is trying to be healthy.  Surprisingly it was busy! But there was a mean boy in the play area and I thought I was going to have to whoop some booty.  I hate when parents let their big kids visibly bully little ones and don't do anything.  I guess that's McDonald's though??

@JessyKV I think it happens a lot at play places.  Parents are often times so stuck in their phones or conversations with others they aren't always paying attention.  It drives me crazy too.

  • Ugh happens at the park too.  We're very involved with DD when she's on the playground equipment bc she's only 18 months old and could easily fall and get injured.  And kids are ALWAYS following us around asking questions and wanting us to push them in swings...basically begging for attention bc their parents have their noses buried in their phones.  It's pathetic.  DH almost decked a little boy once who kept insisting on cutting in front of DD on everything she wanted to use...and if we went elsewhere he followed us there too.  His mom was just chillin on a bench letting it happen.

My bitch is that I have to be late to my first day of work in over a week tomorrow for DDs 18 month well check...she turned 18 months on 12/21 but the office has a "no well visits the last two weeks of the year" policy.  What?  Two weeks is excessive, and the first week of the year is my absolute busiest time at work so that's doubly annoying.  Luckily I think it's only annual well visits after this one, and those are in June.  There are like 10 doctors on staff there, I'd think they could do a few well visits those weeks, seriously.
  • DD1 started begging for an American Girl doll back in July. It's the only thing she asked for for Christmas. DH and I sucked it up and bought one.

It's pretty much been sitting on the floor since Christmas. Today I purged the toy room and made room on a shelf for it.

  • Honestly, most of the time I am browsing my phone while my kids play at a play area because I feel like that is their time to play freely and make friends and take little safe risks while I'm close by. But I keep a close eye on them and my ears are always open to what they are saying and doing.

Outside parks are different and I definitely followed my kids close at 18 months.  I still do with my son at 2 because he doesn't always know his boundaries and would totally try to follow his 4 year old sister on something and hurt himself.  But I don't always play with them.  I'm there to push them on swings but I love watching my DD make a new friend and run off to play tag or do something alone.

I definitely believe in a mix of free range parenting and playing/interacting with my kids.  There is time for both and definitely a balance to keep in my opinion.  But I don't judge a mom for one or the other.  I don't know what their day has been.  I only judge when their kid is mean to my kid I guess lol.  Especially when it's over and over and they never repremind them.
  • I am soooo physically tired. I am getting TONS of sleep at night, taking naps when I can, and eating well. But...walking or taking a shower exhausts me and I have to lay down again.

  • My knee started hurting yesterday. I can't think of any way that I could have possibly hurt it and I've only gained 4 pounds. It's killing me today and my 14 month old is acting like a 14 month old, of course. Hearing my knee pop over and over again as I'm chasing her around cannot be a good sign.
  • My sons daycare is a small in home daycare. She keeps the little kids upstairs and she has another lady work downstairs with the bigger kids. So far she has 6 of the little kids that go to her with hand foot mouth, including my son. Well, she's closing daycare down for the whole week. We had planned to keep him home the next two days because it works with my schedule and my husbands. Thursday and Friday I was really relying on being able to have him there all day as I have stuff I can't miss for work. And we currently have no back up babysitting plan. My husband is gone right now and I'm stressing myself out over our childcare situation for the week until he's home. Ugh

Ugh Daycare issues suck. That's crazy she is closing for a week. My daycare lady told me after the fever it's not contagious any more.. I really don't know but that seems a bit much.

My bitch is my ex, and my DS's father broke up with his girlfriend. He was stable with her and now I have anxiety about who he's going to have my son around and what he's going to be doing he can make terrible decisions. We have shared parenting so here's to praying he has grown up over the last two years.
  • I think HFM is contagious if they have a fever or open sores. We had it go around the daycare I used to work at and they could come back as long as their sores had started to heal.
With an at home daycare you would think she could disinfect the place after everyone went home instead of closed a whole week?! That's crazy! Do you still have to pay for the week @kassyfry ?

  • Been there, @BelhurstBride. Damn kids.

I got a warning for the sex disappointment thread. I'm stressed and bitchy and now I can't take it out here or else. Ugh!  :|
  • @Stankonia2014 I got a warning after the sex disappointment fiasco a couple weeks ago so now I'm biting my tongue on several threads...can't afford two within a month.  Boo.
  • I just found out that ouR new community does not allow cars to park in the street overnight. We only have a one car garage and the driveway is narrow.

So every morning I'll have to move my husband's car out into the street (he gets home late at night and will be blocking my car) to leave for work each morning. That will be great when I'm transporting the baby. Yay.
  • @alm52386 no I don't have to pay for the week. Her policy is if they aren't there on a day they are supposed to be you have to pay. That is not the case if it is due to sickness.
  • I bite my tongue so much lately because stupid crap gets warned.

I don't need/want you going anywhere, @Stankonia2014! Sucks you feel you can't vent here.
  • We spent the last four days emptying out our basement and cleaning up, moving wiring etc. for this remodel. I took off of work to meet with the contractor this morning on the first day. He texted to confirm we are starting tomorrow morning. Annoying.

  • So tired of H today. He's whining and pouting because the house is too messy for his liking, and it's "stressing him out." I will note that the last two nights, I have felt too sick to do the nightly cleanup, but despite my asking, he refuses to do it for me, because it's "not his turn."

funny. Last time he was sick I did it every night until he felt better, and then it was his turn again.
  • My dh has the flu. That should be enough said but it was also our 10 year anniversary and it went by as if it never happened because he was sick on the couch in the middle of the house the entire long weekend and I felt like he was just in the way.
  • Started back to school today and 5 kids didn't show. That's a fourth of my class. Of course EVERYTHING we started was brand new, so they missed all the introductory lessons. Send your kids to school. It just makes more work for me trying to catch them up. On top, of that I am getting a new student tomorrow.

  • @hjphillips, his turn? HIS TURN?  :rage::
Yeah. We switch out nightly dishes even though I do 2-3 loads of dishes before that every day. But yeah. Not "his turn." He feels like it's my responsibility to do absolutely everything and complains when I so much as ask him to clean out the sink after he shaves.
  • @hjphillips sounds like it's time to go on strike.
  • @Ahutch428 wait, you have to stay after school because they went on vacation? Is that school policy or are you a nicer person than me? I am pretty sure a few zeros would end that whole vacationing during exam thing pretty quickly.

  • @hjphillips okay okay...he works 24 hours 6 days per week right? Or wait, both his legs and wrists are broken. I understand now...

NOOOO way. I stay home with DS 3 days per week and get as much done as I can, but even with DH working full time (55ish hrs/wk), he helps me 100% with whatever needs to be done in the house. It's not ever 50/50 but it's a team effort none the less.

I agree, sounds like a perfect time for a strike!

We have to "schedule a time with he kid". I could have them do it during class, but then they are missing class work and would have to make that up. I don't know why they didn't just have them come today and take it during inservice!

@Ahutch428  I guess i don't get having to take your time, class or otherwise, because they went on vk.  Being sick, yes. Of course, i get stuck doing that mess too. I just worry what it says about how many families feel about the importance of education. Frustrating.

Yes! It's very frustrating. I work in a very affluent area, and parents just do whatever they want and don't think about the impact! We cater to parents way too much. All they have to do is say they were "sick".

  • @delujm0 The problem with me going on strike, is that it ends in us living in squalor and H calling his mother over to clean the house because according to him, I don't do anything. Ever.

@kahlan82 I suppose he assumes I have the time and energy to do everything because I'm a SAHM, even though I'm currently pregnant with terrible fatigue, morning sickness, and our daughter is only 16 months.

@devow27 I wish a strike were more of an option. Honestly, it's just some backed up laundry, dishes, and toys that need putting away, but he acts like we live in a junkyard if it's not spotless. But this is also the person who's mother found molding pizza under his bed when he moved out, so I really think his standards are pretty hypocritical, considering he basically refuses to help.
  • I just found out that ouR new community does not allow cars to park in the street overnight. We only have a one car garage and the driveway is narrow.

@Knottie42089123 could you park in the street and when your husband gets home he can play the car game. Lol. Although it would suck to have to scrape a car in the winter.
  • My week off work has now ended. Back to reality tomorrow annnnd I feel like crap. Took a Sudafed today, and helped, but still can't get through the night without gasping for air. I bough robitusin, but it's non-drowsy so that's not going to work tonight.
I don't think we are allowed to take night time medicine right? I go to the obgyn Thursday and I'll ask her.

So my complaint is that we need to work through our pregnancies. I wish it was a paid leave or something for 2 years. hahahahahahah I can dream.

  • @hjphillips I can't believe he calls his mother and asks her to come clean the house. I had to read that like, 5 times because I thought I was misunderstanding.
I was just flabbergasted the first time it happened, too. So... yeah. I don't go on strike. Don't need MIL thinking I'm incapable.
  • @hjphillips I can't fathom. Because I feel like crap, Hubby cooks most of our meals, does 90% of the cleaning, and is pretty much in charge of the house and our four year old. I cannot fathom someone who would shame you instead of respect that you are growing his child. I am sooo angry for you. The MIL thing is just manipulative!!!

  • @semicolon This is us too, except that DH doesn't really cook, so 70% of our meals have been out to eat or something frozen. I have been absolutely useless the past 3 months or so, and don't how anything would get done if it weren't for DH! @hjphillips I hope he gets his act together soon!
