  • FTM and even before getting KU I had a 'pouch'.  I don't look pregnant and I know that the pea-sized baby isn't make a difference, but between the bloat and constipation, I can't suck my tummy in anymore.

  • I have lost 7lbs so far this pregnancy-and I had to unbuttoned my pants the other day at work because I ate something that totally bloated me beyond the button. I was concerned if I didn't that I would bust the button off. so I just leaned back a bit and relaxed. the bloat is real. as is the gas. I have cropdusted myself one too many a time.
  • Went for an appt the other day and I lost 2 lbs.  Dr said it was okay because you tend to make healthier choices when you're pregnant so you might lose a little at first.  While I am normally a veggie/fruit eater, junk isn't even on my radar right now so it makes sense.  I have extra weight on me and I was convinced I was gaining.  Now I think there's a bump popping under all that fat bahaha!  ;)

  • I lost ten lbs in my first trimester last pregnancy, and it was a huge source of anxiety for me. I was just so sick. But rest assured, baby took from my body exactly what she needed and was always measuring fine!
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  •  :( I've gained 4 pounds this month. And both weights were from the same scale. I was eating all day before the second weigh in but I'm still sad.
  • So, the bump is not just baby ... the bump is uterin tissue, lining, fluid.  Also, progesterone causes the release of relaxin which causes you abdominal wall and mescles to relax to make room for all this(happens even faster if you've been pregnanct before)So yeah, your baby is the size of a large booger, but if bumps were all baby we'd be walking around looking like weird alien things instead of cute little plump girls with round bellies.  I'm 4 babies in and the bump is out y'all.  Believe it or not, snark if you wish.  Believe this though, if you aren't bumping yet, you will be, and eventually you'll wonder why you thought it was so cute ;)
  • Does anyone else have anxiety around the weight gain? I haven't gained any yet, but it's something the has been on my mind a lot lately. I've always been small, and it's almost become part of my identity. The weight gain scares me. It's silly, I know. I want my baby to be a healthy weight, but I fear I'll loose myself in the process.

Talk to your doctor if you have serious concerns.  I'm not going to lie, pregnancy changes your body and in some ways it will not go back to the way it was.  That doesn't mean you can't be small or healthy or fit again in the future.  I gained 60lbs with my 1st pregnancy; I eventually got down to below my pp weight before this pregnancy (#5).  I also ate what ever I wanted.  If you're health conscious through your pregnancy you can minimize that.

  • @JulyBaby17 if you are conscious about what you're putting into your body then it should take down some of the anxiety. Some women eat right, exercise daily throughout pregnancy and gain 50 lbs. Some indulge more than others, and gain 20. Your body is gaining what it needs! Just be aware that you don't need to eat for two. You literally need 250 extra calories a day which is...a Greek yogurt with some nuts. That's not saying not to give into the indulgences sometimes because let's face it, the cravings are sometimes impossible to get out of your head. Enjoy this time!

  • @JulyBaby17 Yes! I keep joking with dh that he has to keep up with my weight gain, before pregnancy he was 15 pounds heavier than me. Thinking about extra weight makes me want to eat healthier and work out more, not eat less luckily.
  • @JulyBaby17 YES. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just got a flat stomach in the last year, and I'm simultaneously freaking out about not gaining enough weight (I'm a vegan, and I just don't eat a "weight gaining" diet) and then not getting my body back after pregnancy. I feel so fat right now, with all this blump, and I haven't even gained any weight. I just hate the way I look. Hopefully, the cuteness of the bump will change how I feel about how I look. For the record, I never tried to lose the weight when I did finally lose it, and I have never really had much luck "controlling my weight". Gaining or losing, I can't seem to do it. My body does what it wants. I just hope my metabolism kicks in and starts adding pounds on to me. I'm going to eat more, but I don't even know what else I could do except to start, Idk, eating ice cream all the time, but that's not healthy either. Sigh. Does your body just start gaining weight as long as your eating enough in pregnancy?

The way it was described to me, your body starts storing more fat when you're pregnant. So even if you are eating the same, you body holds on to more of the fat. Not sure how scientific that is haha

  • Thank you all for sharing. I'm still feeling a bit uneasy, and may see if my doctor has any advice. I eat pretty well overall and work out daily so hopefully I'll be able get my baby bump with grace.

I totally understand how you're feeling, but if it helps at all, eating healthy and exercising really does help to control weight gain most of the time. With my first baby (who is 15 months) I was about 10 lbs overweight when I got pregnant and only gained 18 pounds through my whole pregnancy. I worked really hard, made good choices, and bounced back so fast. My body went back to its pre-baby state within a few weeks, no stretch marks or anything.

Some people say I got lucky, but I honestly worked my ass off to stay fit and make healthy food choices, and my doctor fully supported my healthy weight gain. All of that just to say, you don't have to lose yourself in this process. If you're concerned about weight, eat healthy and exercise, and get tips from your doctor about weight control. You're going to be just fine!

Thank you! I eat pretty healthy and exercise daily, so I'm hoping it will help. I've also make sure to drink a lot of water. I just need to make it through the holidays and avoid all the Christmas cookies!
  • @julybaby17 Girl! I have been soooo bad with water this time around, but I'm just nauseous and pukey and water doesn't help. Enjoy some cookies! You deserve it, you're growing a human haha.
  • I don't know about you but I've definitely eaten less sweets since I can't fit as many in my belly. But I'm also the one who gained 4 pounds this month not lost any.
  • My stretchy jeggings were in the wash so I put on a regular pair of my jeans and gave myself a pat on the back for them fitting (like I have any control). Well I'm a dumbass and wanted to die after 2 hours of sitting in that stomach vice at the DMV.

  • @GlitterFish August is already doing hdbd, I think it's time for us to start too!
  • @morgarita FWIW I also gained 4lbs in the last month  you're not alone! I've always been small and petite and afraid of weight gain, but in know it's inevitable from now on. My cravings for junk food have been off the charts (and I NEVER eat junk food normally) so Im just trying to be diligent in maintaining a healthy diet and exercise moving forward.
  • @mrs35 I think if we don't start now, some of us almost-13-week ppl will have no starting point! Lol

Aren't August babies like the size of an apple seed right now? Haha
Lol yeah that's pretty funny. The hand positioning like its a bump you would show off is the best part!

  • @GlitterFish Yes! I've been waiting for someone to start a hdbd, I didn't want to be the one to get flamed that's it's bloating and get side eyed so hard. Also I was lurking and saw a throwback Thursday hdbd where they showed what they looked like with previous child at around 40 weeks.

I'm still trying to hide this surprise pregnancy from people at work, so I'm still sucking it in haha! No bump over here for awhile.

The good news at work is my scrubs are so big that was like almost 36 weeks before some people knew I was pregnant last time. We have to change into different scrubs when we get to work (they have to be sterile for the OR etc etc) and they only come in 3 sizes and since I'm 6' I have to wear the largest so that they're kind of long enough, but I look like I'm wearing parachute pants.

I would totally side eye an August HDBD. People are 12-13 weeks over here which is normal to start. But who am I to be the gatekeeper of blump photos?
