Belly support

has anyone or does anyone use a belly support belt. IV seen the ones "belly band" ?but they seem more to just wrap around and others to hold your pants up, I'm talking specifically to kind of hoist your belly up, I feel as tho my belly is weighing me down and pressure,

Re: Belly support

  • I just bought this off amazon:

I haven't used it much yet but going to wear it tomorrow for a workout and see how it goes. Wore it a bit today to do housework and it definitely seems to be helping so far.

  • I just bought a maternity belt on Amazon too. I haven't gotten it yet but I am most definitely looking forward to some pelvic pain relief.
  • I carry very low. With DD2, I wore a pregnancy support belt for the last couple weeks. She actually couldn't properly engage her head until I started wearing it since it aligned my belly better. I'm sure I'll need to wear it again bc I'm carrying this babe super low, too. Not for a while yet though.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • I have one from my first pregnancy that I think I need to start wearing when I run. I was just thinking about this today and thought that it was too early...Glad to hear that maybe it's a second time mom thing.
  • I think definately a second mom thing, I remember feeling this way but not until 32 weeks! I carry low also and I'm so scared of my water breaking or going into labor early (not that a belly belt would stop it). But def looking for some support

My OB recommended this type of maternity belt for my first pregnancy. I didn't wear it much because the straps were hard to conceal, but I also didn't really need it. This pregnancy has been way more painful, so I've gotten good use out of it now. I don't care that the straps stick out because it helps make me feel better. It's funny how comfort trumps vanity once you're a parent.  :p

  • I plan to try wrapping my belly with a woven wrap when I get a little heavier further along. Wrap You in Love is a babywearing educator in Germany and her tutorials on YouTube are great. You can use a woven wrap or a stretchy wrap, like a Moby, so it's using an item lots of us may already have for baby.
  • I used an upsie belly. It supports your bump and has a hot/cold pack that goes in the back for back pain. After baby comes you can flip it around to help with belly shrinkage. The ice pack came in handy after my c-section. And you can use it flipped with the hot pack for cramps when all that starts back up. I love a multitasker!

I used this one with my first pregnancy and I think it worked pretty well. I carry low and pretty far back, so toward the end the pressure on my spine was pretty unbearable and this helped a lot.

ETA that I haven't started using it this pregnancy yet because I still have no belly to show for. Bah.

  • I just got this one in and wore it for the first time yesterday. It seems to be doing the trick. I also got my snoogle in and tried it last night and woke up with far less pain in the back and soreness in the belly than usual. Thank goodness for some relief.

I bought this one, too, specifically for running. It helps a lot!

  • My OB recommended the new stretchy tape that athletes use on their muscles. I turned my nose up when he said "belly band" and he had this idea that I thought was great! I haven't tried it yet but, I bet it will be more comfortable because it will be a much thinner layer under clothes. Also, I could have more precision over where I need the support by tapping. Some of the belts seem bulky and I have a hard enough time keeping my pants held up.
  • I have had lovely sciatic pain off and on starting this last week so I talked to my ob about it yesterday and she was going to call me in a maternity belt. It will probably be after Christmas that I can pick it up (place is 45 min away) but I am anxious to give it a try. Interesting to hear a lot of second time or more mom's need them cause I definitely didn't have pain like this the first time either so glad to know I'm not alone! ;)

  • So I got the baby belly band a few days ago and I must say I do feel comfortable wearing it. Not the exact support I was looking for but maybe that doesn't exist.
