Tired all the time

Is anyone else tired all the time? I am just past the 6 week mark, and yesterday was my worst day, nausea and everything I ate bothered me.  I got home from work at 5, laid down in bed and passed out by 8, waking at 7 this morning.  I am already exhausted and it is only 10 am.  I am an Administrative Assistant at an Engineering Firm so I sit at a desk, but try and get up and walk around for about 5 minutes every hour.

  • Yes. I remember when I was pregnant with my DD, I had the luxury of coming home and napping all evening or going to bed super early. Now I have a 9 month old so this is tough lol. Luckily she's a really good sleeper and even though she wakes around 5/6am she goes back to sleep for a few more hours. I think breastfeeding in the first trimester is just going to add to the exhaustion.
  • Yup. What sucks is the fact that I don't remember feeling this tired with my first pregnancy. Now I have a toddler, and man, would it kill her to just chill out on the couch with me for a few hours every evening? And get Mommy a Ginger Ale, too.

  • Tired is going to be your friend from now on. Just try to rest as much as you can. Try not to over exert yourself. I have a desk job too, and I'mm a receptionist so there is A LOT of idle time. I doesn't help when I get tired.

What I have found that helps is making sure you never run on empty. Snacking on nuts in between meals helps me keep going through my day.

  • @middy411I have a 10 month old and I know exactly what you mean!

  • I'm EXHAUSTED. If there's one consistency about my pregnancies it's that I'm tired, always. With my son I was also an administrative assistant at a corporate office for a restaurant chain, with a 2 hour commute everyday. Waking up early, sitting in traffic for an hour, sitting at a desk all day, and then sitting in another hour of traffic to go home was not fun. Now, fortunately, my husband is making enough money to where I only have to work 4 days a week for 5 hours a day. Having a toddler to take care of while being so extremely tired is in a world all it's own. I count down the hours to bedtime most days. I love my little guy more than anything, but man, I'm tired
  • @bwing10 Yes, completely exhausted over here, too. I'm a FTM, are you? I tend to be a pretty low energy person in general, but DH said he noticed I'm more tired this past week. Have been falling asleep early and having to choose between my regular gym routine or getting extra rest, which I've chosen extra rest (not sure if that's the right decision or not). Smaller frequent meals and lots of water helps a bit, and I've read it should get a little better in the 2nd trimester!

  • Totally feel you and on the same boat. Last night I went to sleep at 930pm (RARE!) and my toddler son fell asleep beside me, which was nice. The hubby helped out with cleaning up while I knocked out.

I was sitting in a meeting this afternoon and had to pinch my hands to wake up. So I try to eat frequent small meals, not too much carbs bec that would make me even more groggy, and get up every hour. I work at a medical device company as an Environmental, Healthy, and Safety Engineer so I'm always up and walking. It helps to get up here and there to wake up the body.

Exhaustion is real! I may skip out on my Pure Barre class tonight to head home and nap.
  • I am at FTM, I have been trying to go to bed earlier.  DH pretty much doesn't want me to lift a finger but i think that is making me even more tired, just lounging around.

  • Better get used to it. I have a 7 month old and am pregnant... I think i'm more tired from the child I already have.

  • Yes, I find myself just drifting off at my desk all day everyday.  All I want is a nap when I get home, but yes, like the others, I have an 11month old with a lot of energy!
  • I think I took napping for granted when I was pregnant with my first. Chasing around a very rambunctious 12 month old is even more exhausting... I'm having a really hard time focusing at work, I even yawned in a meeting today with clients, ugh!
  • I hated napping before this pregnancy. Now I'm all about naps

  • This is our new normal unfortunately
  • @TwoDogMomma. Took napping for gramted with the first too.  I love and cherish naptime now and nap when my 2 year old does.  I am glad hubby is off for two weeks just to help toddler wrangle.

Hubby thinks I am depressed, but honestly I am exhausted which gives me no motovation.  Gotta get my butt to the gym to walk/swim/ bike.  Sadly my gym.does not offer a prenatal yoga class.

  • I am sleeping amazingly, which I know isn't going to last. I'm not sleeping long, but it feels like I'm in REM sleep fast. At least there's that. I can't imagine you ladies having babies and being pregnant again. I was saying we'd try to do that because of my age, but I'm not even 6 weeks yet and I totally praise you!!!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • I'm being very careful about consuming caffeine. I'm normally a heavy diet soda drinker (I never got into coffee). But one of the first ways I knew I was pregnant both times is it started to taste awful. However if I don't get a little caffeine I cannot even keep my eyes open. Trying to take care of my two year old today and I kept falling asleep so finally had a half can of regular Pepsi and I'm doing slightly better.

I also suck on jolly ranchers....they help with my major nausea and just a bit of sugar to keep me going.

  • I want to sleep all.the.time. Staying awake until my daughter's 8pm bedtime has been tough. I don't remember being this tires before ... or maybe I've just blocked it out?

  • Yes... I'm only 4 weeks. About a week ago, I had 3 days of total exhaustion. It went away for few days and I was feeling more energetic throughout the day, but starting 2 days ago the fatigue is back and I'm dying by 6pm and feel foggy all the time.
