Re: Weekly Appointments 12.12

  • 39/40 week appointment today. Going to do a cervix check for the first time this go around to see if things are looking favorable to schedule and induction for the 20th. If things aren't favorable it'll be the 27th. I went 42+4 for my DS and really hoping this LO will just come on her own! But I'm not super hopeful.

  • 38wk appt / NST today. Baby girl was a stinker and a little mellow today, but still passed with flying colors. I'm not dilated, but baby's head is low, cervix is soft and 50% effaced.
  • 39 week OB done. Took all of 2 minutes. She said she'd never had anyone make it to 39 weeks and not let her check them. Yay for being the first! Haha. I fully expect to be back next week, still pregnant, but we shall see.
  • Went for my 37 week appointment yesterday. All looks good so far, my non-stress test are all good!! yay. I was hoping she would check me this week to see if I was dilated at all since she checked me at my 35 weeks, but she didn't  Can't wait to baby to get here!!
  • 39 week appointment today. Measuring on track, head is still down. I was a strechy 2cm and 40% effaced. She did a membrane sweep and could feel his head so he is low. If I'm still pregnant next week she will do another sweep. She likes to avoid inductions if possible but said we will schedule one toward the end of 41 weeks if he isn't here by then.

  • Just out of curiousity, are NSTs required? I'll be 38 weeks on Friday and the only time I had one was when I had to go to L&D for IV therapy. My midwife hasn't made any mention of one.

  • @ajstevenson I only had one with DD1 and it was maybe around 39ish weeks? This time I'm only getting more because of the cholestasis scare.  I'm not sure if it's a requirement though. Maybe bring it up at the next appt..... if you make it that long with all of these beatboxing dead cats around
  • Lol, I'll be dreaming of beat boxing dead cats tonight!!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @ajstevenson No mention of NSTs here either. I'm pretty sure they aren't standard but some on an as needed basis for different risk factors.
  • @ajstevenson: the first NST I had was scheduled for after I was overdue. I think people with GD are more likely to get them often .
    EQD born 12/15!

  • @ajstevenson according to my doctor, they only recommend them if you are overdue or if there is an issue. I have one scheduled for tomorrow at 41w but didn't have one prior
  • Good to know, thanks ladies! I prefer the no muss no fuss appointments with minimal poking and prodding, so I'm glad to hear this.

  • @jmtrumptone yey! The end is near amd soon you'll be holding your beautiful squishy babe!

  • 38 week appointment was yesterday and everything is still on track.  They had a student practicing so it took longer than normal with him.  He came in and did the fundal measurement (right on track) and heartbeat (wonderful) and then came back with the doctor to do my GBS. Then after lying down and sitting up twice, they asked if I wanted a cervix check.  Although I had thought I would get one going in, I was not up for lying down for a third time, so I left without that.  But I don't think he will be here before next week so I'm not really worried about it :)
  • 39/40 week appointment yesterday - scheduled an induction for the 20th based on how crazy late I went last time with my DS and the OB not wanting to risk another 42+ week pregnancy. She did a membrane sweep which is the first one I've ever gotten, and it doesn't seem to have done anything.

  • My last MFM doc appointment. Baby is being bratty and kicking off the NST sensor as usual. Bittersweet.
  • 41 weeks today. Had my NST this morning. About 8 contractions during it, of which I only mildly felt maybe 2 or 3. I have been having my "bloody show" for 3 straight days now since my membrane stripping Monday. Where is all this mucous coming from??? It is not small amounts and is pretty constant every time I pee (like 18 times a day!). They checked my cervix after the NST and it was the same as Monday (1.5 cm dilated, 80% effaced) so that was frustrating. Last night I was having some moderate contractions that I could definitely feel but weren't painful for about 6 hours so I was really hoping things would just keep going or at least have  progressed my cervix. No dice. Hoping one of these contractions starts getting serious and I don't keep fizzling out. Hope everyone else is hanging in there. We are close!
  • Had my 40+ week appointment today which was finally a head lifting appointment. I'm finally dilating some (2cm) and about 50% thinned cervix.  On the bishop scoring system they use, they look for you to be at an 8 or 9 to mean that your cervix is ripened and ready -- last week I was maaaybe a 1 and today I was at least a 5, so my doc was so happy to see my body having progression. I'm hoping getting my membranes stripped will get me started having some mucous discharge and pain! Who would've thought that I'd be asking for pain.. ;) Lots of prayers and squats in the next few days before we'd be induced Sunday night.  C'mon little squishy buddy <3

  • @acreight13  I'm also scheduled to be induced on the 20th if I don't go into labor before then.
  • @caffeinenut Woohoo! We can enjoy the pitocin together. But I'll cross my fingers that neither of us need the drugs and that we both go into labor on our own!

  • Had my membranes stripped, that was a unique experience. I didn't know what to do, so I giggled through it. Either it will help get things moving on their own, or not. Induction is scheduled for the 22nd either way.

Giggled? Jesus Christ woman. I wanted to kick my ob in the face. Giggling was the last thing on my mind!! I hope it works for you. It definitely brought on tons of bloody mucous discharge and cramps for me (both still ongoing 3 days later). I actually do feel like it helped kick my body into a new gear, even though I am not in full blown labor.
  • @sarah12 I have no idea why I giggled, it was my immediate "this is awkward and painful, so maybe laughing will make it go faster" response. I hope it works too, right now it's just a lot of cramps/feels like there is some extra air up in my uterus.
