    @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot  Here's my really horrible, Trigger Warning story about pre-naming your child, especially if you really love the name (TRIGGER WARNING AHEAD)...  I had acquaintances who did IVF to get pregnant and knew early on they were having a boy.  It was a long road for them so they made all baby-related posts "Team Isaac".  I think they even made those rubber bracelets with Team Isaac on them and recall a t-shirt for some reason.  Then at the a/s they learned that the baby had passed.  Super sad.  But flash forward to a year later they had their rainbow baby... a boy named Isaac.  I found it super weird that they named them both the same name, but they really liked the name Isaac and wanted a term baby to get the name.  I still thought it was a little strange but also understood.  

    We did call our daughter by her name, but not until we passed 24 weeks.  

    B born 7/15/13, C born 3/2/15, #3 on the way May '17

    YES! Plus it's stressful trying to plan around naps and since my kiddo is a total diva about sleep we end up getting two rooms so he has his own quiet dark space which is expensive. It blows my mind how people can get just one room, we would have to go in bed and lay silently in the dark at 7pm when he did.

    We traveled with my daughter once a year since she was born. The first two years, we could get a stroller nap. This past year, she's dropped naps altogether. And we always do VRBO so she has a bedroom to sleep in. It's actually gone pretty well each time. No idea on how it will work with 2 kids though. 

    I would name a baby that passed and understand folks who do. Not sure I'd re-use the name though, but I better not try to put myself in that awful position.

    You're lucky, my son absolutely will absolutely not stroller nap ever! We did do an airbnb on our last vacation and it was great, I think it may be the route we go more often than not from now on @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot although for some locations a hotel is more convenient. Having a kitchen and a kid bedroom is the tits.

With DD, I knew  the name I wanted but we still went in to the delivery room with a list of boy and girl names in case our chosen names didn't "fit." But for some reason, I can't refer to a baby by its chosen name before birth. Nick names are fine, but I'm weirded out by actual names used. 
    This was going to be mine! I find it so odd that the moment people find out the sex they're like "Little baby Rudolph blah blah" or when they order stuff with baby's name on it. I just keep thinking, what if you change your mind?!

    @squirtgun my sister makes the best maple bacon cupcakes. While I agree there are too many bacon flavored things, Maple bacon is an exception. It's so delicious!

    I have never understood the "we have to make sure the name fits." When we found out DD was a girl we already had her name picked and that's what we and everyone referred to her as. There was never another name on our minds, when she came out she was XXXXX.

    @achays11 I agree with you, DD's name fit because it's the name we picked for her. I don't like sharing the name outside of close family before the baby is born, but otherwise I just stick with a name. I can't wait to find out what this baby is so I can start using a name and more solidify my pregnancy in my mind.

    UO: I think it's really weird that there are people who open all of their presents on Christmas Eve and I actually think eggnog is awesome

    @MamaMiller - I have had several of my FAVORITE names bumped off of my list because close-ish friends used them before I could... luck of the draw, I guess. The only time where I think 'dibs' might be legitimate would be in a birth order/family name situation. Expecting others not to use 'your' names is pretty silly (and selfish!).

    We had DD's name chosen several weeks out, but kept the entire naming process (working list and all) to ourselves until she was born and we introduced her as Name. We had a nickname we used since we first got pregnant so even though we knew the name, it actually took some time for me to identify her with her name. 

    We plan on keeping the naming process for DS to ourselves as well. We don't really have a pregnancy nickname for this one, though I have called him Junior several times even before we knew he was a boy.

    My husband loves Egg Nog, Hood Golden Egg Nog to be exact. I can take it or leave it. I like it, but he will drink a big glass with dinner where I'll have a small glass to sip on later.

    DH and I had picked out DDs name years before we had her (we were together 8 years before she was born, it came up!) so of course we started calling her by name as soon as we knew she was a girl.

    I totally get the not naming until kiddo is born. We didn't share the name last time at all. This time I did, partly because I am not changing my mind, and because I think it helps DD talk about her brother "Bash" in mommy's tummy.

    We had a list of our top 3 names by the time DD was born but didn't even decide until more than 24 hours after her birth. Names was something we didnt talk about very often until we were forced to narrow down our lists. We were set on her middle.name though which goes with most names regardless.

    This time we want to decide on a name sooner so we can talk about the baby by name with DD but probably not until the last couple months.

    I think that "dibs" for a name is stupid. But part of the reason I think it's stupid is because I think it's totally fine for two kids to have the same name, even if they are friends or cousins. So if my friends used names that I wanted before I had the chance, I would just use them, too! Our DD has an uncommon name and an acquaintance wanted to use the same name. She gave me the heads up but I was very gung ho about her choosing the same name! DS's name is quite common so no one thinks twice when another kid has the same name.
