I joined that group already on FB because I made the mistake of joining after DD was born with my first BMB and I really felt like once I joined the FB group, it was a lot easier to get to know people. There were still crazies... but I block those that are crazy.
I haven't actually looked at the group on FB but didn't want any FOMO!
I was a July 14 mom - the "catfish" was never part of any facebook group and did not take any pictures or information from any bumpies, I believe she was following a girls blog from Sweden and stole her pictures using screenshots from a video she posted so the pictures couldn't be traced. Her second alter ego "nocturnalley" was actually supposed to be herself obviously minus the four kids, marriage and craigslist affair. She was a young and confused girl. There was more subsequent drama but the moms I was friends with on that board were some of the most down to earth and best friends/resources I ever had.
While I don't advocate a Facebook group this early I will say my Facebook group was fantastic and the best support and sounding board I could have ever had during my pregnancy and the first year.
I look forward to joining a FB group but not until closer to the end of our pregnancies. My last group started after most of the babies had arrived and was the best support I could have asked for. Many of us have met in person, chat privately and I consider those girls close friends. A small group of us have a Facebook chat going and during the MOTN feedings it was awesome, always someone around to keep me entertained. The internet is a big place full of crazy people and while I'm sure most of us are awesome and totally normal I'm equally sure that some are crazytown.
Ditto same here - I wouldn't have made it without my bmb fb group - I still talk to some of them everyday even after 5 years now. From midnight nursing sessions to pump sessions at work, they make up a big part of my support system
There's already a secret FB that hardly anyone else knows about for July 2017 moms? Man that escalated quickly. I also love my FB mom BMB but I didn't see any post or discussion about that this one although I and most others may have missed it. It just seems weird and as the memes have said very exclusionary to say there is one and basically make it sound like we just haven't been worthy of an invite if we didn't know. I'm sure and hoping that wasn't your intention but it does read that way.
I could be wrong but I believe it happened in the intro thread awhile ago. Someone intro'd and asked if there was a Facebook group and @SaphireSweetie88 said I don't think so but I'll start one. There wasn't any discussion on it beyond that.

I do think if she had prefaced her statement that there was a group with that information like "there was mention awhile ago so I started one but it didn't gain much traction so there are only a handful of us in it" it would not have sounded like it did for those who did not see that buried in the intro thread. ETA: and maybe not greeted with mean girl memes although people love to throw those around because their awesome

Feel the need to add I am not part of the FB group and didn't know it existed, just through the mean girl meme hit the nail on the head.

Ditto about the FB. I used to have one and spent way too much time on it doing nothing productive. My husband is anti social media and honestly he seemed so much happier so I got rid of mine years ago and never looked back.
Funny you mention pictures, in sept 15 BMB I shared a couple of pictures of my daughter and then deleted after a few hours or a day. Except in 1 thread I forgot to delete .After reading that catfish thread I wanted to take it down and realized I couldn't edit my post anymore! I've been pretty bummed about it but the post is buried now and I don't think I'll be posting pictures again.

@yellow1daisy Same here, I posted one pic and regretted it, just because I'm a private person. I have a FB for business but use it strictly for business (which people don't seem to understand and always get offended that I'm not "liking" their stuff haha).

Came back after the babies were here. My daughter was due sept 9 but ended up making her appearance August 18th. Anyway, omg, why do people need likes to feel validated? I had a friend BEG me to make an instagram so I could like and comment on her pictures? People are so strange.

Same here, I was just kinda bummed after the bans and stayed away, and then baby came and job stress picked up and I didn't have time to catch up if I wanted to. And now, a surprise pregnancy thanks to the useless mini pill haha!

While I don't advocate a Facebook group this early I will say my Facebook group was fantastic and the best support and sounding board I could have ever had during my pregnancy and the first year.
