Only for me

I used these boards a ton for my DD back in April 14. Now I have my DS born 10/16. So two and a half and two months. This boy screams bloody murder when I try to settle her for dinner bath and bedtime. Like screams and is inconsolable. I've tried literally everything I can think of. Now she's home from daycare, I work when I'm not on leave and have to keep sending her or she will lose her spot- such a ripoff-anyway, she's home sick and now he does it at naptime. I seriously can't handle it. It's only for me, not my husband and not my mother in law. He's been thru seveal
formulas to fix fussiness and possible allergy and I'm still pumping in hopes he can go back to either BF or at least I wi pump for him. Asking for advice on any way to stop the screaming. Can he smell milk?? They think he has reflux but I don't want to do meds. I am 38 and I guess an older mom and cannot f word handle the screaming!!!  Any advice appreciated.

Re: Only for me

  • Who is "they" when you say "they think he has reflux"? The pediatrician? If so, I'm curious why you don't want to do meds if it will help? If he's screaming because he's in pain, I'd think you'd want to do anything to fix it. Maybe try BF again since you said you want to go back to it? Try a routine if you aren't already (bath, bottle, swaddle)? A lot of babies have a witching hour that they eventually grow out of. If all else fails, maybe have your H put him down since you said he doesn't get upset for him?

  • Thanks, they is the dr. They said colic or reflux and with the meds for reflux it helps now but causes developmental issues later in life as it disturbs the natural acids in their bellies. This is what I've read and what makes sense to me, to each their own of course. He also doesn't spit up, is gaining weight and has literally no other issues except being cranky. My husband is not home until later I'm alone with them both and desperate to make it stop.
  • @CatherineDC2012 Have you considered probiotic drops? We started using Gerber Soothe drops about 4 weeks ago and it made a huge difference for our LO. Also, do you wear your baby? I know how hard it can be to take care of an older child when your baby wants to be ON you, so maybe that would help? Hang in there mama! It won't always be this way.
  • My oldest had horrible reflux issues and was the crankiest baby ever... We started meds when he was 6 months and it really made a difference. I wish I would have started sooner bc it relieved so much pain he was having. He's almost 5 now and in perfect health... If that helps sway you... I had trouble dealing with the screaming too, so I enlisted the help of my family so I could get a break and I've never regretted it. One day at a time.
