Re: WTO Sunday

  • @ColoradoHiker I get a light band regardless as well. It does get darker as I get closer to O day

@rainbowturtles @BertieMeetsGertie I have low progesterone (bloodwork at 8dpo) and had a similar conversation with my gynecologist.

(possible TW) She said that part of the hesitation to prescribe has to do with inconsistent research on whether progesterone supplementation helps -- apparently progesterone supplements cause more BFPs but do NOT cause more take-home babies, so the thought is that you may be inadvertently sustaining an embryo that is not healthy and would be lost anyway. You're essentially delaying the inevitable. For me personally, I found this compelling because I would rather think it's a period than a loss. That's my preference, not to know. Not everyone feels the same way, though, I suppose.

She also doesn't like to prescribe progesterone before you've been confirmed to be ovulating and to have clear tubes, because the side effects can be troubling (not to mention a real mindfuck) and can mask other problems. I have a short luteal phase and was spotting 2 days before AF started. Per her suggestion, I started avoiding soy and reduced my exposure to estrogenic chemicals which got me up to 9 days (which is still short but is better) and reduced spotting to less than a day. My acupuncturist also recommended using a heating pad on the pelvic area during the luteal phase to keep yourself warm and fight the temp drop. No idea if any of these things are rigorously evaluated but they're pretty easy to implement.

This is very interesting! So @adirat, if your dr would prescribe it for you, do you think you still wouldn't take it? Unless of course you got a BFP? I just want to get this u/s over with! Of course things can happen anytime, but my spotting basically got worse when we started TTC. So, if u/s is clear, it might be caused by stress or excess soy. I'm planning on stopping my blue apron meals for a month or so because we also started that when we started TTC. I'd like to cut one thing out and see how I respond.
@lulu1180 I'll have my liner ready!

@lulu1180 I had a cycle of 50 something days previously.

Here's more info, I am curious that if I am calculating this right. We decided to start trying around November 1st. AF made an appearance on November 23rd after a 50D cycle. I think O was yesterday so my cycles are irregular. Anyways this makes me think we are Month 2 w/1 cycle.

    Edited to include info

  • Thanks, @adirat ! I haven't used clomid as of yet. I'm told I need it to O with any kind of regularity. I saw a new OBGYN a few months ago who recommended clomid 50mg, but it's unmonitored ☹️️. I do O every so often, so we're crossing our fingers for an O cycle sometime in the next three months. If no O by that point, my OBGYN said he'll refer us to a RE.

  • @soemthingclever Ah, got it. I misremembered -- I recalled your PCOS but for some reason I thought you had done a clomid cycle previously. Here's hoping you O right away and don't even need it!

  • @adirat no I didn't know my sticker says that!  I'm usually on mobile!  I'll have to go on my computer and check it out!

@zwink1 yes, my test yesterday the lines were about equal, today the second line was lighter, so here's to HIO!
  • @adirat I'm flattered you remembered at all! With the time being benched because of Zika, we've not been able to actively TTC for very long. Before we take on the expense of a RE and monitored medicated cycles, we're really just pulling a Hail Mary hoping something will happen over the next few months. My hopes are not high at all, though☹️️. But we'll see, I guess.

  • @ColoradoHiker I use wondfos and I've always had at least a light line. It's never been blank for the test line. My lines get darker, then lighter again and then bam! It's clearly positive

@zwink1. I'm in a FF league too--the only girl. I'm first in my division so I have a bye week too!
  • @adirat that's good to know! I try to eat spicy and warm things in LP but worried that a heating pad on my tummy would be too much. I almost constantly have one on my back when I'm home but even worried that might be a bad thing.

@Sugargirl1019 I'm with you on the endless scrolling...why, Bump, why?! Also kind of funny about your H! Any new vitamins or dietary changes? LoL hope it lasts until your FW, at least! I was saying to my H that I'm a little annoyed AF came earlier and that his SA is planned for when it is and his response is "not to worry, I'm in town for a whole month" (referencing that he has no OOT work coming up). But he still doesn't seem to get it that IIIIII only REALLY want it for about two of those weeks...from when AF leaves to shortly after O lol (After that my libido drops but I try to throw him a bone here and there lol). Maybe one day he'll understand ;)

I could almost swear I had wet cm today, tho, and I'm just like whooooaaa nelly, summer down, no early O please!!!

@jpearl2307 I don't know that it REALLY matters but for myself, we made the decision to start trying in June but we'd already missed my ovulation so I don't count that month or cycle in my tally. It sounds like maybe you missed your O your last long cycle, too? Either way, I'd say if you want to count that month, then I'd probably count that cycle, too. But I see where you're going with it, as this will be your first FULL cycle trying. It's really up to you, just my two cents ;)
  • Well, I thought today was going to feel "normal" until I decided to grocery shopping at Sam's Club.

The combination of a very packed store, seeing babies in car seats/carts and pregnant women everywhere threw me into an anxiety/panic attack. I have never had one, but I had to leave the store quickly. My heart was racing, was short of breath and I felt so stressed and I have no idea why. Fortunately, after sitting in my car for a few minutes I calmed back down. I am back home now and feel fine. I don't know what happened, but I hope it doesn't happen again.
  • I'm so sorry @dragonfly87, *hugs* Having that reaction is totally normal, your heart is so fragile right now and it's all still so new. I'm glad you got out of there and were able to have a minute to breathe in your car. So many hugs to you.
  • @TravelingCouple Thanks for the kind response. It caught me completely off guard and I was surprised. I ended up spending the day yesterday with my friend and her 9 month old daughter, and I was completely fine. So I didn't think being in a store would trigger such a strong reaction.
  • @rainbowturtles Having extra long cycles are meh! For now this makes sense to me. I just know that my months and cycles are never going to be textbook and I'm pretty sure AF won't show up until January.

  • TravelingCouple: haha that's awesome about the abstaining from sex! We had a similar experience last night. We essentially abstained during the last week of the TWW (in November) because I had crazy insomnia and was exhausted and then didn't have any last due to the CP....so last night was the first time in two weeks! I was hesitant...but it was great! Too bad FW hadn't started yet....

@jpearl2307 aww I'm sorry, I was hoping your last 50 day cycle was a one-off and not a regular occurrence :( ((hugs))
eta: and its okay if your month and cycle don't match, I think the confusion was just with two months and only day 19 of your cycle. But if those 19 days span through two months...ie nov to dec...then I totally get it and please ignore me lol I think we all calculate it slightly differently and as I said before, it's no biggy. Now my head hurts from trying to explain myself lol It makes no difference to me, I was just attempting to answer your question :P
  • @lulu1180 I agree completely, seeing those ladies graduate always adds a little glimmer of hope. And I hear you, I want to be active and lparticipate, but I also want to crawl under my rock and only come out for long term ttc things.

@adirat Thank you for the hugs lady!! I missed you!

@adoo - okay good, get to it, lol!!

@purplg8r - woohoo, I have my fingers crossed you kick some major male ass in your league!

    @TravelingCouple jealous over here!

@rainbowturtles I welcome questions! I am a total newb at TTC! I was told at my last obgyn appointment I may have to be on Clomid since I have irregular cycles. I cycle b/w 29-50 days w/an average of 40D cycle according to my app.
eta: I appreciate you answering my questions btw!

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback on the Wondfos.  I did another OPK this morning and had the same result- a very light line, nowhere close to the positive control.  It looks like this may be what I see as a negative when I use them.

  • @dragonfly87 haha that's what DH said, too bad it wasn't in our FW! We may try EOD this cycle to go for less pressure throughout FW and help our stamina. Forced/timed sex is definitely not as fun.
