Zika bloodwork

Hey, ladies! Has anyone gotten tested for Zika? I was exposed (with no symptoms of infection, although I did get destroyed by mosquitos one night in GC even after treating clothes, wearing bands, and putting on lotion) during our honeymoon in Jamaica and Grand Cayman at the end of July and beginning of August. I just got my BFP early yesterday, making me only 3w5d. I plan on calling my doc and seeing if they can give me an early appointment (I think most practices won't see patients until 6 weeks where I live.) Has anyone had it done? When and what was the waiting time frame for results?

    Thanks, @mborn24. I don't think enough people have had their first appointments to be able to answer. I'll try the first trimester board too, but I may have found an answer I'll share for anyone who may be curious. It can vary from state to state and country to country and can change as they learn more. I don't think we have anything to worry about; just wanted to be cautious.

    @NYTino24 thank you for posting the chart.  I will have to ask my doctor about it at my first appointment.  We did go on our trip over 4 months ago.

    Hubby and I both got Zika tests..   I think the test is only valid when given within three months after travel.  But turnaround time was a day or two.  

    I think I read an article recently, and the microcephaly seems to only be higher in Brazil and surrounding areas, even though there are Zika mosquitos all throughout the Caribbean.

    @Peedy Yeah Jamaica wasn't on the CDC list when we booked and GC wasn't on the watch list until right after we came back.

    They have plenty of Zika mosquitos in that area, but they're finding that the rate of microcrphaly of Zika positive women in those areas is similar to the rate for normal pregnancies.  The area in Brazil that is seeing the birth defects is very poor (like issues with clean food and water), and so there are studies out thinking there is a chance that something other than Zika is causing those birth defects.

    @Peedy without getting into the controversy, I think there's more too it... chemicals in the water must have compounded the problem!
