In our Thursday ticker change this week, we were talking about personality traits. I thought it'd be interesting to share this online personality test and see what other people think. I took it a few months ago and was honestly blown away by how accurate the personality profile was for me. It breaks you into 1 of 16 personality types and shares strengths and weaknesses, how it affects your relationships, parenthood, career, etc. My husband and I even went over our results together so we could better understand certain aspects of why we do things, what motivates us, etc.
Here's the test:

Re: GTKY: Personality Type
What is your personality type? ISFJ-A "The Defender"
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Almost all of it. I'm definitely an introvert, I take things personally, I'm observant and empathetic, but I repress my own feelings, etc etc.
Are any portions inaccurate? I definitely don't think I procrastinate because of perfectionism. Yes, I like stuff to be done right, but I hate anything being late.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: "When it comes to gift-giving, ISFJs have no equal, using their imagination and natural sensitivity to express their generosity in ways that touch the hearts of their recipients." I've always thought I was a really thoughtful gift giver, so it's nice to see that there may be truth to that.
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? It always is. Almost 100%
Are any portions inaccurate? Not really.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: "ISFJs utilize excellent memories not to retain data and trivia, but to remember people, and details about their lives." My memory can freak people out. I have to hide things I remember sometimes so I don't seem like a stalker.
I did this test with another group of friends recently and this was my favorite part. Dead. On.
The underlying thought running through the ENTJ mind might be something like "I don’t care if you call me an insensitive b*****d, as long as I remain an efficient b*****d".

Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? I think so... although when I took this test and wasnt pregnant I had a couple differences
Are any portions inaccurate? I feel like i'm more introvert than extrovert
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:
Its two, but i feel like they go hand in hand
Theory, abstract concepts and plodding discussions about global issues and their implications don’t keep ESTPs interested for long. ESTPs keep their conversation energetic, with a good dose of intelligence, but they like to talk about what is – or better yet, to just go out and do it.
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Yes, every time I take a personality test I get INFJ. Apparently this type is rare and only about 1% of people fall under it. I am introverted, creative, passionate, and a perfectionist.
Are any portions inaccurate? Not really. One thing is it said this type is decisive. I'm am SO indecisive in some areas. However, if I have set my mind on something then I am.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: Though soft-spoken, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain.
Advocates don’t require a great deal of day-to-day attention – for them, quality trumps quantity every time, and over the years they will likely end up with just a few true friendships, built on a richness of mutual understanding that forges an indelible link between them.

accurate:
for the most part! I'd agree I'm very loyal, that I have a strong sense of duty and strong practical skills! Also sensitive and warm!
inaccurate:
a bit. I disagree that I'm inflexible! And definitely could care less about social status!
sentence that sums me up:
"having children is often the culmination of ESFJs life goals and they cherish every moment of it" ABSOLUTELY!

Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Every single time I take a personality test it tells me I am a cold robot. This one was no different. I think it is accurate, but I like to think that not everyone thinks I am emotionless and metallic.
Are any portions inaccurate? I don't think I am as good of an employee as this makes me sound.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: "While Logisticians may need clearly set steps and well-defined responsibilities, they are exceptionally loyal, dedicated, meticulous and patient in completing their work." I dislike floaty, undefined tasks. I like to know what the goal is and what I am working toward, so I can know if I did a good job. "While not intentionally harsh, Logisticians are often hurt more sensitive types’ feelings by the simple mantra that honesty is the best policy." "To Logisticians, honesty is far more important than emotional considerations, and their blunt approach leaves others with the false impression that Logisticians are cold, or even robotic." This causes problems with some family members who I see as easily hurt and they see me as sharp tongued. I am trying to be better at this.

Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Yeah, for the most part. Especially the part about me being similar to Beyonce and Queen Elizabeth.
Are any portions inaccurate? "while their kindness is often respected, more cynical and selfish people are likely to take advantage of ISFJs’ dedication and humbleness by pushing work onto them and then taking the credit." I'm a pretty cynical person sometimes, and not likely to have selfish jerks pushing work onto me. Nope.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:They may never be truly comfortable in the spotlight, and may feel guilty taking due credit for team efforts, but if they can ensure that their efforts are recognized, ISFJs are likely to feel a level of satisfaction in what they do that many other personality types can only dream of.

"When INTPs are particularly excited, the conversation can border on incoherence as they try to explain the daisy-chain of logical conclusions that led to the formation of their latest idea. " - this happens to me a lot, so I try to get the people on my train of thought when I explain my ideas. Luckily for the last two years I was on a project with super smart people who have PhDs and stuff so it was a little easier than usual.
oh yeah! I have watch all but the most recent season I think and that definitely describes her! I have a close friend that reminds me a lot of that character, but do not see myself as that cold and calculated. Maybe I am more then I realize though. Also thanks for the website. My husband and parents took it tonight after dinner and then we joked and laughed about how spot on everyone's was even when they thought it wasn't. Apparently I am my father and I married a man like my mother.

INFP-A- the mediator
Which parts were accurate?
Most of it seemed pretty accurate. Artistic type, few long term close friends vs many casual friends.
Apparently I'm Anne of Green Gables, Amélie, Sybil from Downton Abbey, and JRR Tolkien. Awesome!!
Which parts were wrong? I'm not all that "sensitive" to what other people may be thinking of me and my decisions.
Sentence that most resonated?
"Mediator parents...take immeasurable joy in the wide-eyed wonder of their children as they explore, learn, and grow."
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Most of it
Are any portions inaccurate? I was not a cheerleader in high school and definitely not a football player

People with the Defender personality type are private and very sensitive, internalizing their feelings a great deal. Much in the way that Defenders protect others’ feelings, they must protect their own, and this lack of healthy emotional expression can lead to a lot of stress and frustration.

What is your personality type?
Executive (ESTJ-A). I've taken these a number of times and always toggle between ENTJ and ESTJ.
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Yep--100%.
Are any portions inaccurate? I rarely have trouble relaxing...in fact, it's one of my favorite things to do!
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: "Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it’s wanted or not)." This drives pretty much everyone in my immediate family crazy. On the religious front with my hyper-Mormon in-laws, they don't understand why DH (similar personality) and I just can't "have faith"/have no interest in any form of religion. And anytime someone asks me for advice, I give them my honest (fact routed) thoughts, even if it's not what they want to hear.
What is your personality type?
This morning I was a Consul. Previously I was a Mediator.
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate?/Are any portions inaccurate?
I don't have the info from before, but I felt like the Consul was more accurate for who I was in high school, but not necessarily who I am now. But even in high school I wasn't the "popular kid." I got along with pretty much everyone and had a lot of friends, but I certainly wasn't the cheerleader or quarterback. (I was the drama/choir/band kid.) Now I would say I'm a pretty 50/50 split of introvert and extrovert. It just depends on the day.
According to this strengths are: strong practical skills (false), strong sense of duty (true/false), very loyal (true), sensitive and warm (true), good at connecting with others (true). Weaknesses: worried about their social status (false), inflexible (extra false), reluctant to innovate or improvise (false), vulnerable to criticism (true), often too needy (true), and too selfless (true).
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:
Of all the the pieces, this was probably the most accurate: "Consuls don't do casual flings - they need to know that their partners will always be by their sides offering unwavering support, and marriage and family are the ultimate goal." For sure my relationship with my DH is my top priority, and of course this LO joining our family. We waited a long time before deciding to get married (3 years of friendship, 7 years of dating) or have children (4 years of marriage) because we wanted to take the time to develop and cultivate the relationship.

Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Heck yeah. I sometimes get INFP or ENFP on these personality tests, and my strengths (according to Gallup's "strengthsfinder") are adaptability, empathy, individualization, developer, and relator.
Are any portions inaccurate? Apparently adventurers are into risky behaviors, but that's not me, at least when it comes to hobbies or big life decisions. Maybe in day-to-day problem solving...

What is your personality type?
INTJ - Architect
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate?
Yep. I am in good company, with Hannibal Lector and only 0.8% of the female population. I have a hard time forming female relationships because I sometimes super care about gossip or small talk but then 75% of the time, don't and think it's a waste of time. I can be oblivious to people's emotional states, so I sometimes jump right into the logical part of a discussion, which can be off-putting to people. I *try*, but some days, it's just like, let's just get to the point.
I've started to recently embrace some of my quirks that apparently make me unique and a pain in the ass to be around. I used to be a peacemaker (more like an INTP) when I was young, but now that I'm getting older, I don't care that everyone doesn't like me. That's... been interesting.
Are any portions inaccurate?
I don't know that I radiate an aura of mystery--that'd be cool, though. I definitely do try to get along with people more than the profile suggests. Also, because of my job (project manager), I've grown to be more comfortable in the spotlight.

This is so spot on it hurts.

The only part I felt was not completely accurate was the "Exteemely Private" part. I don't feel I am extremely private, but also I'm surrounded by people I trust, so maybe that's why. I do struggle to be able to trust new friendships, it does take years to develop full trust to where I am not super private. So maybe it is accurate lol
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:
Just one sentence? But there's so many! I was reading the part about assertive personality types and this is so very very accurate "They refuse to worry too much and do not push themselves too hard when it comes to achieving goals. Similarly, they are unlikely to spend much time thinking about their past actions or choices – according to Assertive types, what’s done is done and there is little point in analyzing it".
Also, "Though soft-spoken, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain" This is 100% accurate.
"Advocates will also push their children to think independently, make their own choices and establish their own beliefs." I feel like this is a glimpse into my future. This is absolutely how I want to raise my children, independent, confident & self-assured.
And last one "Advocates don’t require a great deal of day-to-day attention – for them, quality trumps quantity every time"

ISTJ (you and me @Louise_Belcher!) I LOVE this test! I've taken the original version (the Meyers Briggs) many times and always come up the same way. Even though the questions were different on this one, lo and behold, once again the exact same result.
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate?
Very.

Nope, not really.

I actually think that taking this test over the years (I originally did it in a work setting) has really helped me to understand not only myself but other people I interact with. On one version I took, it told you how far you are in each domain and I was all the way over in the "T" domain (the opposite of T or Thinking is F or Feeling, which means that I basically have no feelings and have a really hard time understanding people who are strongly governed by their feelings). Seeing that really helped me understand how to work with and interact with people who have a very strong F - for example, when I sit down in a meeting I want to jump right in with the agenda and I've since realized that some people need to start out with "hey, how's it going? How was your weekend?" etc. It may seem obvious, but to me it really doesn't come naturally.
I also think it is very interesting to see how many people have the F (as opposed to the T) in their personality types. We have a lot of feelers on here!

What is your personality type? ISTJ - T (Logistician)
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? Yes, this is definitely me.
Are any portions inaccurate? It says I am patient. That is the furthest from the truth. I am one of the most impatient people you will ever meet.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:
Logistician personalities are no-nonsense, and when they’ve made a decision, they will relay the facts necessary to achieve their goal, expecting others to grasp the situation immediately and take action. My fiance says if there was a dictionary for people this would be my definition.
While not intentionally harsh, Logisticians are often hurt more sensitive types’ feelings by the simple mantra that honesty is the best policy. I rub people the wrong way a lot. They say I come across a just mean. I am kind of hard to get to know because I keep to myself a lot.

ESFP-A: The entertainer
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate?
No, especially the description. It seemed really far off, actually! I am extroverted (didn't used to be, but I pretty much am now) and I care about other people's feelings. But most of the rest of this was totally false. Maybe I didn't answer the questions that accurately!
Are any portions inaccurate?
Lots of parts:
1) love the spotlight/life of the party -- I can stand the spotlight a lot better than most people, but I'm NOT an attention whore by any stretch of the imagination. I'm definitely NOT the life of the party, ever.
2) "strongest aesthetic sense of any personality type...from grooming to outfits to a well-appointed home...have an eye for fashion." This could not be farther from the truth for me. I have ZERO sense of style, across the board. I never wear make-up, never have fashionable clothes, and my home is BORING (not to mention messy). DH is kind of in charge of that stuff. I use stitch fix so I don't have to shop, and then return a lot of the stuff for being too adventurous for me.
3) "often so focused on immediate pleasures that they neglect the duties and responsibilities that make those luxuries possible." Absolutely not. I never GAF about immediate pleasures and I'm all about my job, responsibility, etc. I'm NOT organized or tidy and I am forgetful, which is probably where this is coming from, but I am nonetheless responsible and hard-working.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up:
I think the most notable parts were just how wrong a few of the statements were, like the aesthetic sense, or that "credit cards are dangerous," etc. I'm the type of person who saves like crazy because I'm not even creative enough for coming up with something to spend money on. I bet most of the personalities in this list would have fit me better than this one! haha

What is your personality type? I haven't done this particular test, but every time I've taken the Myers-Briggs it comes up as INFJ
Do you feel your personality profile is accurate? very accurate, with only a few small exceptions
Are any portions inaccurate? "INFJs too often drop or ignore healthy and productive situations and relationships, always believing there might be a better option down the road." While I sometimes ponder the fact that the grass may be greener somewhere else, I can still be totally happy with the situation I am in.
There was this one episode of Say Yes to the Dress that has always stuck in my brain. This bride had tried on something crazy like 100 different dresses and was really liking this one she had on, but couldn't commit. Tim Gunn told her that there probably is a better dress out there, but at some point you have to stop looking and be happy with what you have or you'll make yourself miserable. I tell myself this a lot.
Share one sentence from your profile that you found to be interesting, or felt summed you up: They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain – INFJs will act with creativity, imagination, conviction and sensitivity not to create advantage, but to create balance.
