  • @laeberge3 just picked up some space heaters! And @Wingless00 we aren't even close to FW but thank goodness for that because I can't even think about taking my clothes off in this house! Lol

    Married 7/13

  • @laebarge's- Im glad the funeral went okay. Im sure that was incredibly tough for you ( and everyone). Nice of your MIL to check on you - those small kindnesses can mean a lot.

@szwill86 - Im sorry scheduling the HSG can be so tough.  I had it done in October - and it was not that bad - 15 seconds of uncomfortableness tops.

@soontobemommahowe - love your christmas crafts - so cute!

@amberruka - glad you are back safe and sound from all your travels!

@SP128 - I know figuring out when you O can be so stressful! I get so stressed/beat myself up/ put so much pressure on myself during the WTO.

@MooFish2364 _ oh my goodness - im sorry about all the things that went wrong. Ugh I can't even imagine moving a christmas tree around your house!

@migdala - Im sorry about your friend - sending you pictures of babies really seems unnecassary. I hate it when people tell you to "relax" - its like great if that works for you but it doesn't for me. I had the same testing as szwill86 but my RE ordered everything. Through the RPL bloodwork it was determined that I have a genetic blood clotting disorder - so the testing was worth it for me.

@wingless00 - Sooo cute!!! Does Buddy have a name yet? :)

Welcome @tennis11785- love your Ana picture - Im still on a Disney high right now. :) So is the instant pot like a crockpot only quicker?

Welcome @babypi and @sjohns08 - sorry to see you here but this is a great Board!

    @allowachick - that looks delish - pecan?
  • @riversong15 - your dog stories are making me nervous for getting our puppy next week.  I feel like I am already anticipating what could possibly be destroyed. lol We are so excited for it though and I think it will bring us a lot of happiness during this time.
  • Greetings, I am coming over from the regular TTGP board.

1.) Introduce yourself (if your new)
I am 29 and DH is 31. We have been married for a few years and were high school sweethearts. We started TTC in October. I just learned I miscarried today at 4 weeks, 3 days. So a chemical pregnancy. I know it is was really early, but the pregnancy felt very real and I had symptoms, so I am just trying to wrap my head around everything. I am healthy, at a good weight, exercise, eat well. My mother was insanely fertile (conceived 3 times while on birth control) and we were on our first official cycle. But, just trying to move on and decide when to start TTC again.

    2.) Status - (Benched/ WTO/ TWW)
Not sure. Maybe benched, maybe WTO. If my cycle stays normal, I would likely O on December 16 or 17. DH leaves town on the 16 though for 3 days. I really want to give it a shot, but my doctor said to wait 3 cycles. Not sure what we will do.

3.) Rants/ Raves - I am so mad at myself for taking the test on Sunday. AF was due and she wasn't showing, other than a little brown spotting. So out of self-pity, I decided to test on a 2 hour hold at 3:00pm. Lo and behold it was a positive. If I hadn't tested, I wouldn't have even known about this CP and life would be going on as usual.

4.) GTKY  - Do you DIY? What is your latest project or disaster? Feel free to share!
I love DIY. I recently did our backsplash and it looks awesome.
  • @TScalei I didn't mean to scare you away from getting a dog! The dog that destroyed our kitchen was a very bad match for us and very unique - even the trainers we worked with said he was an exceptionally energetic and smart dog. In contrast, the puppy we got this summer was by far the best thing to happen in our lives this year. It's so nice to have something warm and furry to love, and it gets me out of the house for walks. I encourage dog ownership :) But yes, with a puppy, at least one thing is bound to be chewed on... Lol. Thank goodness they are so cute!

Welcome to the board @babypi, @sjohns08, and @dragonfly87. I'm so sorry you find yourselves here, but I hope you find as much support and comfort on this board as I have.
  • @riversong15: Thank you for the warm welcome. I have found the Bump to have pretty good support overall, so I am looking forward to participating in the TTCAL community as we continue through our TTC journey.
  • @dragonfly87 so sorry you're joining us here, but welcome. These are some of the most supportive and knowledgable ladies you can find! :)
  • @dragonfly87  Welcome. Sorry that you find yourself here and hope your stay in short.

  • @laeberge3 You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

@szwill86 Do you freeze your cookies until XMAS? And if so what kinds of cookies do you make. I have a molasses cookies recipe that I know freezes well, but I'm hesitant to try to freeze my other cookies right before XMAS and then having them turn out bad when they thaw.

@migdala Sorry about your friend. I would say that for your sanity you really need to talk to her. I would write out what you want to say before you call her and maybe have DH read it first. You know yourself best, but I know that for me if it's a difficult conversation I tend to ramble and be bitchier than I mean to be.

@oliveoil DH lost his credit card yesterday. I know that I lose things too but sometimes it feels like boys lose stuff so much more than girls.

@Wingless00 Your new kitten is adorable.

    @allowachick That pie looks amazing

@dragonfly87 I'm so sorry for your loss. I also just had a CP. The best advice I received from my OB is that it's not "just" a CP. It's a loss of something that was made by you and your partner's love, commitment, and devotion to each other and that is something very real and worthy of your grief. My mom also is super fertile (conceived both me and my sister the first months they tried and never had any miscarriages). It's so hard because she wants to be supportive but she doesn't understand what we're going through and I can only hear her say that she's sorry so many times. If it gets to be too much be upfront with your mom and let her know that you appreciate her concern but that you need some time to process everything.

1.) Introduce yourself (if you're new)
I'm 28 and DH is 31. We've been married for 5 1/2 years. Right now we have one fur baby. We've been TTC since September. On 11/26 I got my BFP. Last Thursday I had some very very light spotting. Went and saw NP on Friday mainly for some reassurance. HCG was 76 and progesterone was pretty low. Started progesterone supplements, but by Sunday HCG was down to 17. Had follow-up yesterday and HCG was back down to 5. Bleeding started yesterday as well.

2.) Status - (Benched/ WTO/ TWW) WTO - Maybe, OB said that once I started bleeding it should be the M/C and AF together. I'm going to go with it. As disappointed as we are about our loss it feels like the best way to move forward for us is to continue TTC.

    3.) Rants/ Raves -

Rave: My boss is being awesome. I went in for a couple hours on Monday to get a few must do's done and to let my bosses know what was going on. Boss urged me to go home if I needed to, and texted me to check in on how I was doing today. I told her I was going to be coming in tomorrow and she said to only come in if I was really ready. I just really appreciate how understanding she's being.

Rant: I wish I didn't care so much what people think. DH and I told several close friends that we were KU knowing that even though it was early if something happened we would need people to talk to you. I didn't want to try to explain to people that I had lost something they never knew I had. Well I told two old co-workers (our office was more of a family than an office and I still consider them sisters from different misters) on Saturday night and they made some snarky comments about how it was awfully early to be telling people. I finally told them about the loss late last night. I hate feeling like they were talking about me at work today (they still work together) and how they think I was dumb to share so early. Like I said, I know I shouldn't care, but I do.

4.) GTKY  - Do you DIY? What is your latest project or disaster? Feel free to share!

I bake and cook, other than that I'm REALLY good at pinning stuff to DIY. I just never manage to do the DIY. The one pin that I managed to do is DIY laundry detergent and I love it. If anyone has a DIY dishwasher detergent recipe or other cleaning products that they like I would love to have it.

  • @dragonfly87 I just started posting on the ttgp board last week and I had been following your journey the last week over there. I was really rooting hard for you. And I am so sorry that you find yourself here. This is a great group of women and they are so supportive. They have gotten me through 2 mc's this year and I don't think I could have done it without them. I hope you find this community as helpful as I have.

  • @laeberge3 Funerals are difficult no matter who they are for.  I bet it was even tougher because the loss hit so close to home.  I am glad you have the support of your family, and that they have you as well.

@szwill86 I'm an ETSY fanatic as well.  And that makes holiday shopping so easy too.

@Wingless00 Love kittens.  They make everything better!

@RiverSong15 I can only imagine your face when you came home to see your kitchen destroyed!  Dogs can do so insane damage.  My ex boyfriend put the dog in the garage and the dog literally ate his car (the bumper and fender!).

@SierraFoxtrot  I was just reading something about how fast the winds blow on Mt. Washington.  I guess at the top of the observatory there are only a handful of people that have been able to walk around the entire deck of the observatory because it's so hard with the wind.

@MooFish2364 When it rains, it pours.  Hope your luck turns around.

@SP128 I wish I had tempted before too.  I started 2 weeks ago but who knows if that will even matter because I have to normal to compare to.

@migdala Wait, is your BF best friends with my BF?!  My BF is pg and complains all the time to me about it even though she knows about our loss and and ttc.  Sometimes I think people are so self-absorbed that they just have no clue.  Sorry you have to deal with that.  I would tell her to be a little more mindful.

@TScalei Glad you had a  great time.  No mosquitos right?

@oliveoil Oh no!  I lost my engagement ring and a year later it still hasn't turned up. (I bought a  new one a few weeks after I lost the first one.) Maybe you'll have better luck.

@Mack2342 Sometimes you just need alone time.  I feel like one week I want to be a hermit and the next I want to hang out with as many people as possible and pass the time.

@Tennis11785  Never heard of instapots but if it makes cooking easier, yes please!

@babypi Welcome, and sorry you're here.  Hope you find a pet sitter and you have an uneventful flight with the dog.  I always wish that someone with a small dog would sit next to me so I could oggle over it. Love animals!

@KariAnn323 So sorry you are here. People are insensitive.  Sorry you are feeling shitty about that on top of a shitty situation.

    AFM

Week 11 after my ectopic and still no AF.  So, I think I am benched for 2 cycles but who knows. I have heard so many different bench times from different people.  I am finally going to see a naturopath women's health doctor.  I will know more after that apt next week.

Rave:  My puppy (7 months old) has finally began to sleep past 5 a.m.  This means I too can now sleep past 5 am.  He has woken up and cried EVERY morning between 5:00-5:30 am since AUGUST!!!  This dog is crazy.  Most people probably would have dropped this dog off at the pound.  My bf who owns a doggy daycare says my dog is the most hyper, mischievous dog she has ever seen, and she's seen 1000s.  I guess he is preparing us for future mommy and daddy life.

gtky:  I can DIY pretty well.  I DIYd my entire wedding this summer with hand painted watercolor invites, signs, and hand printed candy bags.  I probably spent way too much money on it but I had fun doing it and I'm and artist so it didn't seem like too much trouble.  I love wedding diy and I am thinking about opening and ETSY shop but don't think I'd be able to manage it once I got KU so I'm on the fence about starting.
  • @tscalei @justsuzie - InstantPot is like 7 machines in one - it steams veggies, makes rice, serves as a pressure cooker, serves as a crock pot, and is basically a magical way to make food.  Its nice because those recipes that say to sear meat before putting it in the crock pot, you can do it right in the pot and then turn the crock pot function so it's all one pot.  Plus the pressure cooker function lets you cook food really fast and it makes meat super tender.  Like I did short ribs in an hour last weekend.

  • Welcome @KariAnn323 @dragonfly87 - I'm sorry to see you both here but this is a great board!

@RiverSong15 - don't worry you didn't scare me away from dogs lol. A little nervous getting her so close to Christmas with all the decos and xmas tree out but I'm just gonna have to watch her. Glad it's been such a positive in your life and hoping it is in mine too.

@justsuzie - nope no mosquitoes and of course I kept checking for them like a crazy person lol. I'm sorry you still haven't gotten AF. Hopefully the new dr can help. That is crazy about your puppy lol. We are getting one next week and I'm hoping it can get us ready for parenthood too and fill that void in our life.
  • @KariAnn323 - There are a couple different sizes.  I think mine is 6 quarts?  But it's taller and not as wide as my normal crock pot, so it works with smaller amounts better.  Like the tacos I made last night I used 3 chicken breasts and it was fine.  But I've also used the same machine to make chili for 10 people. I think because it's surface space on the bottom is smaller, it makes it easier to make smaller amounts of stuff.

  • @stephann85 and @TScalei Thank you for the warm welcome!
  • @KariAnn323 I just make easy cookies- chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, and Italian anisette. I never freeze them, just keep them at room temp in ziploc bags and I've never had a problem. I know my mom freezes hers and takes them out the night before. I've never tasted a difference, but maybe that's just the holiday spirits I've had before eating them in years past  :D
  • Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. It's been a rough week as I've been recovering from my D&C and was totally not prepared for the amount of bleeding and cramping I would have today. I love reading this thread, it's so bright and warm, it's really helped this week.

@justsuzie His dog ate the CAR?!?!? Wow. Yeah, my dog had his days of destruction, but the kitchen counter was a slow affair. We had him gated in the kitchen, and every day I'd come home and find a few wood shavings on the floor beneath the counter as he slowly chewed away at it. I told DH he was trying to escape Shawshank-style. Lol.
  • Welcome @babypi an for @dragonfly87. Like you, and I'm sure a lot of other people felt that maybe lifestyle should be ideal for ttc when we started. Same as you, healthy diet, healthy weight etc. I don't even drink and still ..... it is frustrating.

@Tennis11785 I'm going to look into the insta pot. Very intriguing. I have crockpots that I don't Use often and a pressure cooker I'm afraid to use less I blow up my house.

@TScalei puppies are awesome. It'll prepare you for being a mommy !! It was rough when my girl was a puppy. SHe was so worth it. I miss those day and now.

@szwill86. I made chocolate chip cookies a couple nights ago. Unlike you, we are eating them all!!!  Mind sharing your mint chocolate chip and Italian anisette recipe so ?  I love tbe anisette ones. Dh doesn't. I feel like people either love them or don't.

    Have a great day !!!!

  • @SP128 I've heard of taking Mucinex around your FW.  Some ladies also drink green tea (and/or red raspberry leaf tea, though I'm not sure that's as useful for CM) to increase CM.  I don't get tons either, but I've read that proper hydration is also key.

Thankfully our dogs only destroy used tissues...Gross but manageable!
  • SP128 This sounds gross and weird...maybe ask a doctor...but I read in Taking Charge of Your Fertility that you can use actual egg whites to mimic it. Take out the yoke, let it get to room temperature (so it's not super cold) and then use an injector (like with pre-seed).

I have no idea if it is legit...but TCOYF mentioned it!
  • @SP128 - I have taken preg preg - it helps thin your cm to help sperm get to the egg. They also have male preg prep that helps sperm mobility. DH and I both took it the cycle I got pg with my second loss ( who knows if that helped me get pg). I did notice it helped me to produce more EWCM ( my EWCM varies). I took it the past 2 cycles but honestly did not really follow the directions to a t. But it's all natural and developed by 2 drs so I figure it can't hurt?

    https://www.pregprep.com/product/fertilprep/

  • @SP128 @laeberge3 I was feeling really down about how I thought there was nothing else I could do to up our chances for next cycle, but I read through what you ladies said here and just ordered raspberry leaf tea and Mucinex on Amazon.  It feels good to think that I'll be doing something different next month and maybe it'll help.

Does anyone know if there's a down side to using progesterone cream post-O?  After I started spotting this morning I scoured TTC boards looking for ANYTHING else that I could do next month, and found several discussions on OTC progesterone.  It's a hormone so I'm a little nervous about self-administering without a doctor telling me to, though.  Anyone tried it?
  • Question about baby aspirin...does anyone take it and not have a confirmed blood clotting disorder? Just curious. My doctor mentioned it by saying, "Since this is your first CP, I am not going to prescribe baby aspirin yet."

So, I got curious and googled it. It doesn't seem like there is harm in taking it as long as it is below 81 mg. So wondering what others have done or thoughts....
  • @dragonfly87 I don't have a blood clotting disorder, per se, but I am homozygous for MTHFR and I take baby aspirin after I O.  They used to recommend it for people with MTHFR and now they don't, but my midwives say it can't hurt, and I don't really think it could either since it's such a low dose.
  • @migdala I've wondered the same thing about OTC-progesterone cream, so I'll be interested to see what anyone has to say.  I'm thinking it should probably be discussed with the doctor, but who actually wants to do that for every little thing?

@dragonfly87 I take baby aspirin and have no known blood clotting disorder. I've had a MC and CP and figured it can't hurt. Mine was not prescribed by my OB.

  • @migdala and @laeberge3 Thanks for the responses! What brand and dosage do you take?

And you both take it after O or all month?
  • @dragonfly87 I just brought a store brand kind, I think it was Krogers or something.  It's just called "low dose aspirin" and I only take one a day post O.  My midwives said that the recommendation used to be to take it while pregnant, so I figure there's no point in taking it pre-O but I could be wrong!
  • @migdala: Makes sense. Thanks!

@dragonfly87 My RE and OB said there is no harm in taking baby aspirin, so I will with my next pregnancy. It over the counter - look for "low-dose aspirin".

@SP128 I'd really advise against using raw egg whites as a substitute. TCOYF is a great book when it comes to learning about your cycle, but that recommendation just seems to invite an infection, which could cause more harm than good. I'd recommend using pre-seed (sperm friendly lube). Also, it's always good to talk about any supplements with your OB before taking them. Some of these "natural" supplements have never been proven effective, and some can cause more harm than good. Additionally, if you drink green tea, make sure to not take your PNVs too close to when you drink it - some studies have shown green tea may interfere with folic acid absorption.
  • @RiverSong15: Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was legit and it seemed kind of nasty.

I should stop researching today. While looking up baby aspirin I came across info about taking NSAIDs at regular strength and miscarriage. I had a raging headache from 10-14 DPO (kept getting negative results) and took 2-4 tablets of ibuprofen each day to tame it. Got my BFP at 15dpo and then the CP.

It may or may not have been unrelated...but now I am in a downward spiral of wondering....
  • There is an ingredient in cold medicine that will help thin out mucus.  I can't recall what it is but I will look for the article. Anyway they used that to develop to pre seed.  So I would suggest using pre seed.
  • @dragonfly87 I think that's such a common thing for women who have gone through a loss.  So much so for me that I insisted on testing the "products of conception" (I hate that they call it that) that were removed during my D&C, even though insurance wouldn't cover it and it was not cheap.  But I had to know if I had done something wrong.  My baby had trisomies and there was nothing I could've done.  It's like that for the vast majority.  You didn't cause your CP by taking ibuprofen, I'd bet my life on that.  But I understand the feeling you're going through.
  • @migdala: I know it's unlikely related. It's just that it happened so shortly after that it doesn't seem like coincidence. At least going forward, I plan to avoid ibuprofen during the TWW just in case.

@dragonfly87 I beat myself up for using ibuprofen before I knew I was KU as well as getting into a hotel hot tub during that time. Oh God did I torture myself. Point being: do NOT defeat yourself over this. You did NOT cause it.
