We are onto weekly appointments starting this week. OB appointment this week on Wednesday. Only 3 weeks until this baby is here. We have a scheduled c section on 12/27. So much to do before then too. My other sons birthday and birthday party are before then and of course, Christmas. It will be here so soon.
Midwife appointment on Wednesday. Moving to biweekly appointments now. The main thing I want to be told is what position baby is in as I have no clue and I know at 34 wks I'm getting to crunch time for baby to be head down. I only feel lumps and jabs on both sides of the upper half of my body but do occasionally feel hiccups lower down, I just don't know where her head is if she's head down...
Im 32wks and I have my first of the every-other-week appt on tue. Just a reg appt but I'm gonna ask for a cervix check, just cause I'm curious and paranoid.
I'm 34 weeks tomorrow. I have an app't to check babies growth, since he's been on the small scale. We don't do every week appointments in Switzerland. I'll have another one in two weeks, since my baby is measuring small, but normal protocol is every month until 36 weeks, then an appointment at 36, 38, 40, 40 + 7 and induction at 40 + 10.
Anyway, I think they also do a contraction monitoring tomorrow for 20 minutes.
I have my 35 wk checkup tomorrow, he will check my cervix, do the beta strep test and hopefully tell me baby is head down. I'm so nervous this time and I shouldn't be because I've done this 3 other times. But this pregnancy ix so different than the rest. Good luck everyone
36 week appt on Tuesday. Getting swabbed for GBS and hoping for a growth scan so I know how big baby is. She's still breech so I'm sure I'll get that talk as well.
36 week appt on Tuesday. I'll get a cervix check to see if anything is happening down there. Maybe GBS test? Pretty sure baby is still transverse so I plan on asking ALL the questions about what that means for delivery options. We'll get a growth ultrasound next week if we make it that far.
36 week appointment for me this afternoon. Baby has been head down for the last month, so I'm hoping for confirmation of that again today. And I know they'll do my GBS swab today too. I had it when I was admitted and it was negative, so fingers crossed that hasn't changed. Typical NSTs for Tuesday and Friday. I thought they'd cut me loose, but I'm with them until delivery!
I had my weekly OB appointment today, then tomorrow and Friday I have my NST/biophysical. OB discussed when we're delivering this baby, she is going to call the MFM doctor and discuss a timeline since they both feel it's safer to have baby growing on the outside now. She feels it could be as early as next Monday, which would put me right at 34 weeks, as long as NST's this week go ok.
Tomorrow I hit 36 weeks and have my first of the weekly checkups. I will get the cervix check and GBS swab. I'm excited to see if anything is happening down there since this is my first and am always questioning if what I am feeling is normal for this point or not!
36 week appt. on Wednesday which includes an ultrasound. It can't get here soon enough! I can't wait to see if these back cramps/pains i've been experiencing (that I think are contractions?) are making something happen or if it's just the baby finding a new part of my body to torture.
Update from my appt. 35 wks I'm 1cm dilated and very very soft. Baby isnhead down again. Yay!!!! But he's huge. Weighing 6.7lbs and head is measuring at 38.6 wks. Dr still says he predicts I deliver on Xmas and if not baby will be pushing 10lbs for sure. I go back next Wednesday and we will see if I make any change. Baby had specks floating in his fluid and dr said that's a sign lungs are developing well or are already developed. Dr is questioning my original dates as to whether I'm further along than we think or not?!?!
Whoa, good luck @becid24! Sounds like your babe will be here soon!
34 week appointment for me tomorrow! I’ve been truly gluttonous for the last 2 weeks so I’m a little nervous about my and baby’s weight gain. She’s been measuring a bit ahead all along too, particularly her head, which is worrisome from a birthing perspective. I have virtually no interest in trying to push out a huge baby, so I plan on discussing my potential options with my doctor. Assuming there are options.
Wednesday I go for my 33 week. Ive been every other week since 29 weeks, but I've been monitored by the head of the hospitals office for placenta acretta and my uterus since about 28 weeks so Really I've been pretty much every week for a while now lol. I get a free week next week and then both drs the week after that. Baby is head down (not that it matter so much) and just about 4 lbs.
Friday I have my 33 week. I've been going weekly since 30 weeks. NST, BP check, and lab work. So far everytime I've been in since my third trimester started, my blood pressure has been way up, but drops enough for them to feel okay with sending me home by the end of my NST. Hopefully it won't be high this week. I just gotta hold out until 37 weeks!!!! Boo pre-e
@LastMango I was SO convinced my baby was transverse as well but I ended up in L&D on Thursday and found out the baby is back to being head down! It was such a huge relief. So don't lose hope, baby can definitely turn!
I have my 36 week check on Thursday - but I was checked thoroughly on this past Thursday at L&D so I have a feeling it may be a quick appointment. I plan to talk to her about when she wants me to go in though - they usually want us to go when our water breaks but often it doesn't progress for quite awhile after so I am hoping she is okay with me labouring at home until I have strong close together contractions.
Appointment went well and I'm sitting at 2cm and 50% effaced. Even better news, when she checked me, she could feel baby's head so it must have flipped! I'm so relieved.
She doesn't think I'll make it to Christmas. Her main message was for me to get to the hospital at the first signs of labor. My first came so fast so this one may be faster and she said to mentally prepare for a natural birth just in case. Um, what?!
I've got my 36 week appt tomorrow morning. Final blood draw, GBS swab, I'm assuming a cervical check, a biophysical profile plus growth scan and nst. So, it should be a fun morning.
I had my 36 week appointment this afternoon! She did the GBS swab, and checked my cervix, which is 1 CM dilated. Our girl has been head down since our last ultrasound at 31 weeks, so I'm happy that hasn't changed. My fundal height was 35, and I somehow (with Thanksgiving this makes no sense to me, but whatever) have not gained any weight in the past month. Doc said baby is on the smaller side of average, which works for me! Hoping she stays that way, since I want to go au naturale for L&D!!! Getting super excited to see all the babes be born!!

Doh @lastmango I read too quickly the other day. Sounds like everything is looking good! Really glad he or she flipped for you! TBH, I am sort of ignorant on effacement. I don't really understand how they measure that. Did they ever give you a measurement about effacement previously?

They didn't previously. I think it's something they "feel" for. Basically how thinned out your cervix is, not short but thin if that makes sense. Ultimately it all means nothing until go time!
Ok got it, thank you everything is looking good! Head down still and measuring a week ahead. They won't do a cervix check for me until 38 weeks. I'm ok with that, but I am getting curious!!
Just had my appointment! Baby is apparently "super" heads down and the bumps I feel are her tush and limbs. So happy! Hope she doesn't flip. Besides that excitement, all is good. If everything continues to go well I'll be referred in two weeks to my hospital's midwife led birth unit so I can have a water birth (or at least labor in the pool not sure I want to deliver in it).
So had my 35+ appointment. They did the group b strep test. Doctor said dilated to 1 cm. But my iron levels are great now that I switched from prenatal to iron pills and folic acid pills. Doctor said Lil man is in the right position also. Yay!
Had my 34 week appointment today. I've been having strong Braxton Hicks so she checked me and I'm 1cm and 50% effaced. Supposed to take it easy tonight just in case because they normally don't check you this early.
36 week appt today. Got to see the baby with an ultrasound and he's in the right position! Based by how he's positioned, I've now confirmed that I can definitely feel his wrist/hand when he's sucking his thumb (a little lump poking out, so strange, but I knew it and doc confirmed). No dilation yet, but cervix is very soft. My back cramps are definitely contractions (I had one when I was there) so at least now I know. Everything is seeming so real!
Saw the doctor today, talked about BC a little, and she did the heartbeat, steady 130 to 140s! her butt is right up under my rib cage, and she's dropped some! Doctor joked she might come early, I was like I don't know about that haha I measured at 33 inches, so just an inch behind whereas my son was always 2 to 3 inches behind, so that's good! Overall she's impressed I'm still moving as much! I go to weekly appointments now
36 week appointment today. Baby is still head down, but his head is like... off to the side, so not dropped really, OB seemed unconcerned but also hesitant to answer when I asked, "Does that put me at increased risk of a C section?" and would only say, "We'll keep an eye on it at your next appointment..." No cervix check and I'm measuring around 37 weeks.
@canavara I had a 3rd year med school student do my fundal height measurement and fetal position on Wednesday. Scared me to death when he said, " I think I feel the baby's head up here." (under rib cage). This child has been head down for 6 weeks at this point, and I know that I've been getting kicked in the ribs, but it made me panic nonetheless. Of course the OB showed him how to palpate for the head, which was down but not engaged at all. I would think that if it's off to the side, they still have plenty of time to shift that little bit, and it may happen when he drops?
@cjs260 oh my gosh, I keep getting this one rotating student who is SO NERVOUS and shaking when she measures my fundal height. in my head i'm seriously like, this is probably the least invasive part of your OB rotation. Just wait til you have to stick your hands inside of someone... or even better, perform the GBS swab.
So i had my 35 week check up on Tuesday . .did gbs swab, cervix check, growth scan and nst..cervix= 1 1/2cm dilated . passed nst..growth scan on the other hand put his weight at the 15th percentile and belly at 4th percentile..so i then got sent to a maternal fetal specialist on Wednesday . .which put him even smaller at 3rd percentile for belly and only 6th percentile for weight..specialist say we need to deliver at 37 weeks so that puts me having him around the 19th..im really hoping to go into labor before then just because I dont want to be induced..i was aiming for an all natural birth..i guess we will see..

Ugh, sorry you had to go through that with the med student. I've been really open to having students come in during this pregnancy but declined this morning because last time the student used so much pressure palpating (was obviously very nervous and wanted to be sure!) and it was downright painful. You had a growth scan to confirm position for yours, right?
@newyearsbaby5 Weird! Yeah, that seems like an odd thing to get fumbly-fingered about. Are they the same way doing a fetal doppler?
@newyearsbaby5 i totally remember being a nervous med student, especially at the beginning of the rotations! luckily i didn't get shaky/ sweaty, etc, so hopefully i hid it better? and at least nobody can see how nervous you are when your doing pap/ pelvics, delivering babies or suturing up afterwards... those were the worst!
@canavara yes, actually. it took what felt like forever to find the baby's heartbeat, but luckily he was kicking up a storm so it didn't freak me out.
@Litzi yeah I think because of what she was doing (and clearly just starting the rotation if I've now seen her twice) I could see the nerves a little easier. I'm sure you hid it very well!!
Re: 12/5- 12/11 Appointments, ultrasounds, blood work, NST etc.
Anyway, I think they also do a contraction monitoring tomorrow for 20 minutes.

Did I miss your update on how your appt went?
On the plus side, negative for GBS.
