Re: Randoms! 11/28

  • My shower is this Saturday. - lot of big stuff come in from a few ppl but I feel like no one else is buying anything? Maybe I'm just a registery stalker..... got nothing better to do!!! There's suppose to be 25-30 ppl going!
Honestly, most people wait until the day before and/or day of to buy shower gifts in my experience. My shower is this Sunday! Woot for shower weekend buddies! :)

  • @mrsyimster from the baby showers I've been to most people either don't follow the registry or don't scan it correctly to show that it's been bought when purchasing

Ditto this.  If I were going to a shower this weekend I probably wouldn't get around to buying the gift until this weekend lol

This ^^^ ppl procrastinate it. So I'm sure a few more items will be checked off the list. Lots of ppl don't follow it to a T, so there may be things that are the same item, but don't show up as purchased.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's AW baby shower posts!  The women at my church want to throw me one, but I've told them I don't want one (second baby same gender) so we'll see what ends up happening.

@Burrberrymum definitely not overthinking it! I was about this far along with my first when we started looking at houses last year. There wasn't a lot on the market in the area... so we would see 2-3 a week, but our realtor made it a high priority to get us to see the homes we loved in the day or two following the listing when he knew they would go fast. Good luck!
  • Are we not doing a December siggy picture thing?

  • @Burrberrymum piling on to say get a new realtor! That's so not normal, even if you weren't pregnant on a timeline I'd say switch. Esp buying your first home you want someone who's going to be proactive about showing you your options and educating you about the process. Ideally you should feel like you click with them and they 'get' you and what you want in a house. At a minimum, 2 houses a week when you have 11 on a list is SLOW, and 11 on a list isn't bad at all.

  • I think my dog thinks my belly is a ball I'm hiding from him. He never used to jump on me and now he jumps on me all the time over excited. It doesn't worry me too much but he's a big dog.

We just moved into a new space at work today. Beautiful space with lots of natural light. I even have a window seat.

I got the most excited when I walked into the ladies room and there's an awesome mother's room in there. Big comfy chair, cabinet to store stuff, a sink, and I think they're putting in a mini fridge.
    Danggggg
    thats nice!!

  • @mrsyimster do you knit? Wondering if I could teach myself crocheting, I can knit & purl but I don't do anything fancy beyond that. I'm kind of dying over all the super-cute baby crochet patterns I keep seeing...

can't knit for the life of me. I find crochet pretty easy. I bought a basic book to practice all the different types of patterns and stuff and I googled some patterns. But I found that free patterns sometimes miss a few step. Im
looking to buy a few more book. U should try it! I bought a ergonomic crochet kit from Amazon

  • So, my DS (22 months) hasn't nursed since Monday. (he only nurses at bedtime, and the last two nights he forgot to ask to nurse!) I think this might be it, ladies: he may be officially weaned. I feel really sad about it, like a chapter is closing.
That's so great that he'll possibly self wean! My kid is one of those that would've breastfed until he was 18 if I let him. I weaned him a couple weeks after he turned 2 and it took planning. So wished he would've weaned himself!

I'm sure my milk drying up spurred the process along, lol. Until 19 months he was still nursing 4 or 5 times at night and occassionally in the day.

Yay! And Aww. It's SUCH a bitter sweet feeling, huh!? I thought when DD self weaned a couple months ago when my supply tanked that I would be relieved at the surprising ease of the process and elated that I had freedom again... but I also just wanted to cry.

It's been really nice to give the girls a break between kiddos though! And hoping that it keeps the older one from being as jealous of the baby nursing since it'll be a few months of not nursing themselves.  But mostly just felt like: thank god im having another baby because I don't want to be done with this season of life and to give up this special bond!
  • little purple stretch mark made an appearance on the belly :( I know its not a big deal but i've already been feeling a bit down about the way my body is reacting to this pregnancy and that's just the unfortunate cherry on top

Aw mama, I'm sorry you're feeling this way! It's so hard when our bodies are not our own and do whatever the hell they feel like. Especially the second time around when you think you know what to expect, and then : WHAM, it's nothing like how you assumed your body would react.  Hope it gets easier now that the first one is out of the way ((the first was the worst for me)

  • ^^ This is SO true. I'm getting clumsy and have been dropping the whiteboard markers as I'm teaching... and they just get to live on the floor now. I have a ton of backup markers stacked up on the board because trying to get a dropped one is not worth it, haha.

Not answering the question exactly but related: I was going #1, and LO kicked me just right and made me poop a little bit. Thank god I was already on the toilet!! My mom told me it only happened because my sphincter was already relaxed, due to going #1. But I'm still kind of paranoid that she could kick just right when I'm *not* on the toilet!

Like @Gators&BoSox mentioned, it's probably how you're positioned. I've noticed I have a habit of squatting over when I need to go #2. With an increasingly bigger belly, I need to start training myself to sit up straight! Otherwise yes, I do kind of feel some kicking - if only because I'm probably squishing her, lol.
  • Y'all are right!!! I think it's how I'm positioned!!! It's just my belly is so big now!! Some days I even find it hard to wipe :( bc I can't twist my body around and reach... lol T. rex pregnancy problem

  • Should we start a birth announcement thread? I know it's wicked early and I'm not wishing early deliveries on anyone, but since we just gained our first March baby (yay!), have lots of multiples mommies and the holidays coming up will probably make getting anything stickied take even longer I figured I'd ask.

Side note, whenever we do start aging more births I'm sad we won't get to comment on them, at least per the traditional rules. I feel like we are a small close knit group and I don't have Facebook to add comments to lol.
I was wondering this too! Might as well, since we've had our first! And we'll obviously use it eventually.  Wanna start it up?
  • Sure! Uno momento...
  • @kjd291 I love margaritas- definitely going to be my first drink I have after I have the baby.
  • @Gators&BoSox DEAL!

@Spartanrd4 definitely will be mine too! ughh. Just typing about it is making my taste buds go crazy! Virgin doesn't even come close, so I don't bother.
  • @Gators&BoSox coming right over after the baby!
  • @RunBooRun Mine is on Dec. 27 and the day before we leave for our babymoon. Yikes! FX we both pass and not feel *too* much like crap afterwards!
  • If ya'all have a second you should head over to the "December" BMB.  And read the accidental home birth thread! Holy Cow!  my take away::women are badasses and we and our bodies know how to birth our babies---butttt at the same time I hope I make it to the hospital on time
  • @kjd291 Holy crap- that woman is a badass!! But yes- I definitely would like to be in the hospital. I was talking to a colleague at work (I work in a hospital) that told me one of her co-worker's water broke while she was in a patient's room...that is one of my worst nightmares- water breaking at work or in public in general.
  • @Spartanrd4 yes! I can't imagine the embarrassment of that either. I have an acquaintance that was telling me hers broke on her parents pastors couch :scream: I have heard it's not common though-only like 10% of women have their water break before labor starts! So the odds are ever in our favor ;)
