@NYTino24 Sorry that you DH didn't appreciate the gift you got him - and bought a gift for himself on top of that!
@Flinstone Do you have Meetup in your town? It's a website that is kind of like online dating for friends - I use it whenever I move somewhere new, and it's great to meet people with similar interests/who are also new/who are open to new friends. I highly recommend it - you don't need people like that for friends
Month/Cycle: 2/2
CD/DPO: 23/4
Timing: pretty good
Testing: trying not to think that far ahead yet haha
R/R: It's rainy and I don't want to go to the gym. I will and will be glad, but right now I want to stay home in my pjs
CS/Q: nope - got some great advice in the new weekly CS thread (shamelessly promoting it so more people use it - it's a great way to get advice from everyone instead of just the people in your daily thread )
GTKY: I'm on the fence about the holidays because we don't know DH's travel schedule yet. But I think we might try to get away on a road trip or something (neither of us really celebrate, and we are far from any family)
@Ohemgee Yes, sort of. I was nervous that I might O while we were away Thanksgiving but I didn't think I would O as early as CD 7 before we even had a chance to BD.

Timing: -4 and -1
Testing: December 1--Tomorrow!
R/R: So, I finally purchased some Unisom last night. I was so looking forward to a good night sleep after 3 nights in a row of 4 hours of erratic sleep. Well...it made me drowsy, but also put me in a hazy state of dozing off and waking up. Went to bed at 10:40pm and somehow, I still woke up at the same exact times I normally do: 2:30am, 3:30am, 4:30am, fell back asleep around 5:00am and woke up for good at 6:15am.
I am beginning to think something is going on with my body at those hours because I didn't have to go pee at all of those times, I just literally "wake up" and open my eyes, like at those exact times (plus or minus 10 minutes). It's very strange and frustrating.
CS/Q: Somewhat positive note, my temp dipped yesterday...but it shot up to the highest temp yet this cycle. It went from 97.7 (just above cover line) to 98.48 this morning! I don't know if that is a good sign or means nothing, but I feel like I might still have a chance. I am however starting to feel pressure (not cramps) in my lower abdomen that could very well be AF arriving (due on Saturday). So we will see. Testing tomorrow.
GTKY: How are you feeling about the holidays right now? Show me in a GIF!
Eh, I am not a huge holidays person...but I don't really like the cold weather. So I feel like this:
@juliebeannn@Ohemgee I'm so sorry that we're in this horrible boat together. Hugs to you girls
Don't forget about me!! Didn't need to test this morning as temp went down to cover line. That, coupled with my spotting since Sunday night, is all the answer I need. Sorry ladies, but at least we're in good company! and, kudos to the golden girls gif!!
@adirat thank you so much for posting that. I was feeling a bit down this morning, but cheering up a little bit now. @laurad75 oh girl, I'm so sorry. I do hope they are able to find you some answers quickly. @Khrun17 awesome job on the hat!!

@dragonfly87 Sleep meds do that to me too. I fall asleep right away but I don't sleep soundly and wake up exhausted and hazy. Have you tried something less harsh like a sleepy time herbal tea? That helps me sleep through the night.

** lurking from WTO @dragonfly87 I do not look at the clock if I wake up in the middle of the night and it helps to keep my mind from going, okay well I have 2 hours left to sleep, I better fall asleep fast. And then waking up an hour later because I am like oh was it time to get up? So maybe try not to look at your clock or phone to check the time and see if that helps.

@Pinky917 Funny you should mention the flats for the wedding. I wore flats, and you wouldn't believe how many people were like, "I didn't realize you were so much taller than DH!" We were together for 10 years by the time we got married, so it was amusing that people finally just noticed it. @laurad75 I'm sorry about the early O messing up the IUI plans. FX for a better result next month. @Ohemgee Sorry for the BFN.
Thanks ladies. I'm feeling a bit more positive today about life in general, despite having a severe lack in sleep right now. DS decided it was play time after he cooled down. For two hours. It was a long morning until I finally got coffee.
I'm okay with the BFN today. Like I said, my BFP with DS was two days later than this, so I don't feel like I'm completely out yet. My temps, for what it's worth, went up again today. But since I was up early with DS, I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Chart stalkers, link below, but I don't really have any questions at this point, I'm either waiting for AF or a BFP.
I also talked to DH last night about the whole boobs everywhere and my lack in positive body image last night. He reaffirmed that he loves my body no matter what, but also that he understood why I was so upset. I apologized, too, as I know some of it was definitely my body image issues right now.
@laurad75: I have been taking melatonin for about a year and it helps me fall asleep, but not stay asleep. I also sometimes drink sleepy time tea, but it does the same thing...helps me fall asleep, but not stay asleep.
@juneroseruby: I have tried not to look at the clock (i.e., my phone) a few times...but then I get paranoid that I am going to oversleep and my alarm isn't set or something weird. But I should try to avoid looking at it so often and see if that helps.
@adirat I’ve been thinking something similar (but different lol)
to your R/R since listening to this podcast a few weeks ago. Specifically this:
“We like to tell stories and find
patterns that aren’t really there. And if you flip a coin, say, ten times, most
people think — and they’re correct — that on average you should get five heads,
five tails. The problem is they think that should happen in any ten coin flips.
And of course it’s very probable that you might get eight heads and two tails
and it’s even possible to get ten heads in a row. But people have this notion
that randomness is alternating. And that’s not true. “
So it’s entirely
possible that I’ve over here just flipping tails on a coin that lands tails 80%
of the time. That’s not necessarily strange or abnormal.
@Flinstone I’m sorry
you’re dealing with obnoxious high school BS. It can be so hard to break into
new friend groups. Lol at your DH’s solution though!
@LadyMillil Good
luck with your parents in your apartment! Do you have a spare bedroom for them
or are they on the couch?
@laurad I’m so sorry
you missed your O this cycle. That’s really rough. **Hugs**
Month/Cycle: 8/8
CD/DPO: 29/15
Timing: Good
Testing: A really high temp today led me to test again “just to
be sure”, BFN.
R/R: I realized this morning that I won’t have a child in my 20’s.
It surprised me that that wasn’t a milestone I’d been keeping in mind; it just
hit me that it has passed. I think I’m ok about it, but I think that’s mostly
because of the other things going on in my life right now.

@JulesDP ugh, sorry your body is being a TW. I LOVE your grinch mode GIF, though.
@NYTino24 I'd also be annoyed at your DH for buying the PS4, especially with only 1 TV in the house. That Amazon GIF though....YUP.
@KhRun17 I'm jealous of your crocheting skills! I only know the basic stitch and have only ever made blobs lol.
@ColoradoHiker sorry for the BFN, hopefully you're right and it's just too early! And, don't wallow in mom guilt! If that's the worst parenting mistake you make all day you're doing pretty darn good
@Sugargirl1019 nooooooooo!!! Ugh, so much wine to you girl.
@Lmmtravels YES! I can absolutely relate to the battle between wearing cute shoes and not wanting to being taller than DH.
@adirat that fact about faulty eggs/sperm actually freaks me out lol. Mostly because I've let my diet slip too much, which I'm sure isn't helping my eggs. And for the life of me I can't convince DH to take a multivitamin.
@daisymae6215 how early you test can depend on your typical LP length. I usually test at 9 or 10 DPO because my LP has never been over 11 days, and is usually 10 days.
@wabash15 Sending good vibes that your DD's recovery is fast and painless
@laurad75 so sorry for the early O situation. How unbelievably frustrating
@JenRuss I can absolutely relate to the renovation mess! We just finished a 1.5 year renovation (actually, the house wasn't finished when we bought it, so we were finishing it and redoing crap that the builder had done incorrectly), and we didn't even put up any decorations last year because of it. This too shall pass!
@littlebug2010 you like wrapping??? Can you please come wrap presents for me? I pay in wine!

Like I said yesterday, none of my symptoms seem to matter because they're new and/or different every cycle and I'm still not KTFU.

GTKY: How are you feeling about the holidays right now? Show me in a GIF! I vacillate between very cheery and loving the season to wanting to cut a bitch.
@adirat It feels nice to be able to take a little bit of the pressure off of ourselves. I have spent the past few months thinking I obviously must be doing something wrong, so it's nice to step back and take into consideration that some of it really is just out of my hands.
@laurad75 So, so sorry for your situation. I cannot even begin to imagine how frustrating that must be. I hope you are able to determine a good plan for going forward soon.
@LuND With all the mess, I couldn't even imagine putting MORE things out to look at! I haven't had a kitchen for about a year at this point (just a stove hooked up in an empty room). It's been a struggle, but it will be worth it, I hope!
@BertieMeetsGertie Noooooooooooooo! I was SO hoping that you tested again this morning and got good news In that case, welcome aboard the S.S. Hot Mess Express. And here's another GGs gif for good measure
@adirat Because I was wallowing and had not yet removed head from sphincter, I totally missed the meat of your post. Thank you so much for the information about the 20% chance. The information brought me a lot of peace and allowed me to cut myself a break.

Thanks for all the good thoughts for DD, she was a little rockstar and did great. We are having our first mommy-daughter day and its been great getting to spend lots of quality time with just her.
@khrun17 I love that hat! you did a great job @coloradohiker you shouldn't feel guilty, but I'm glad DS is OK other than he was up for a while overnight. Fx your BFP is still coming this cycle @sugargirl1019 sorry for CD1 hugs and wine @adirat I'm glad that the 20% stat made you feel better about where you are in your journey. @flinstone Sorry you had to deal with that, its ridiculous for adult women to act like that, you shouldn't have to put up with that kind of crap @daisymae6215 the earliest to get a BFP is usually 8dpo but that is super early and the most reliable is 14dpo... I guess it all depends on if your ok seeing BFNs @starla@virginiaham@ohemgee@dinosaur@swimsister sorry for the BFNs @laurad75 still sending hugs your way. @swimsister That probability summary is accurate but also disheartening. I hadn't even thought about how chances of conception in that light.
**possible TW, loss inferred** With only one working tube, I only have a 50/50 chance of ovulating on the "correct" side each month. Since ovulation is random and does not go back and forth, I could have been trying all this time with 0% chance of conception. Couple that with a 20% chance of a good sperm and egg. The chances just seems so dismal. **end TW**
R/R: Haven't been here in so long! (toddler + med school + holidays)
CS/Q: Sorry if this is long. Last month was my first time trying and coincidentally, the first time I've ever been late and not pregnant, EVER. I saw my doctor around CD45 and he said at my age (37) "anything" can throw off my cycle. He wasn't concerned and said to come back in a few weeks if I went past CD60 and he'd prescribe Provera, but he said I'm healthy and not to worry too much. I had already cut back on exercise to 6 hours a week and I'm busy but not stressed. I got my periods regularly even when doing 12-15 hours a week of intense Ironman training the past two summers. It took a few weeks for my husband and I to consider this: since I started med school, I've been home significantly more than any time since my maternity leave ended when my daughter was 3 months old, and she was nursing pretty much on demand since September. My period returned just after her first birthday and around the time I stopped pumping, and she really only nursed at bedtime and then on weekends. So a few weeks ago, I started limiting her to twice a day; she nurses when she wakes up (8am) and at bedtime (8pm) and that's it. I *think* I ovulated this month. I'm hoping we can conceive soon, but my concern first and foremost is that I'm ovulating. I'm not doing OPKs because they're expensive and my understanding from my doctor and OB friend is that temping is the best indicator. I'm still new to this, so if anyone has opinions or insight, I'd appreciate it! (And if anyone has has similar experience with nursing and odd cycles, please share!)
GTKY: How are you feeling about the holidays right now? Show me in a GIF! I love the holidays! I'm technologically challenged, so we'll see how this works ;-)
@njtrimed Based on your temps, it does look like you ovulated. As far as OPKs, I suggest Wondfos as they are quite inexpensive. I think the Newbie guide has a list of authorized sellers.
Thank you. I only went in on CD 13 which I thought was late but the nurse assured me that was when I should come in. Maybe that is what I should ask for - to be monitored more frequently this coming cycle. I am definitely going in on CD 3 but not sure what will happen after that.

@njtrimed your temps are consistent with ovulation. I am still nursing typically twice a day but it can be more on weekends... BF can make your cycles irregular but that generally resolves with time. Many women can get KTFU while nursing but there are some ladies who don't until they wean. The website Kellymom is a great resource for more information on BF and it's effects on reproduction. As frustrating as it is 60days is usually the benchmark for jumpstarting your cycles. GL and feel free to PM me if you have more questions

Njtrimed it definitely looks like you ovulated, so that is great! I just had one of my best friends see the doctor after not starting her periods well over a year after her son turned one. While the nurses in her office said it was normal, the doctor said it was not and wanted to bring her in for testing a few weeks later. In the meantime, she went from weaning like you are to absolutely cutting off BF. Her period returned on Thanksgiving after 17 months. It might just be you are like her and are just as sensitive to a bit... I also have friends who continued to BF until they were 5 months along in their other pregnancy Everyone is different. That being said, it does sound like you have a lot on your plate. While you might not be outwardly feeling stress, med school and having a child are definite stressors and as we all know stress can delay ovulation. It's also completely normal to have about 2 anovluatory cycles a month. I just had three of them in a row after non-hormonal BC and my doctor was not the least bit concerned until it happened for another 6 months in a row. FX for you that this whole process goes quick and kudos to you for doing all that you do now!
@hartmich Thank you! I just bought a 25/pack of Wondfo pregnancy tests, so next cycle I'll try their OPKs!
@wabash15 Thanks for the insight! I love KellyMom. And like you, I was nursing up to twice a day during the week and all weekend without any restrictions, and my cycle was like clockwork on that schedule. And in the first months of school (August and September) we were required to be on campus pretty much on the same schedule that I used to be at work, and my cycle remained normal. Since the end of September (LMP at that point 9/19) I have only had to go to campus a few times a week since our lectures are podcasted, so I'm home basically all the time. Until I cut her back to nursing twice a day, my daughter would often sit next to me and literally just nurse any time she wanted to. She was nursing when she was thirsty, when she was upset, when she didn't feel well, when she went down for a nap, and basically just any time she felt like nursing. I have no idea if I even ovulated last cycle, but I'm thinking (and hoping) that was the issue, since it seems like I ovulated. I will PM you with any questions I come up with; thanks again!
@Flinstone, thanks for sharing those stories, and for the kind wishes! I did resume a normal period around my daughter's first birthday, after I stopped pumping at work and was only nursing her closer to her bedtime, so that makes sense! And I think stress may play a part, but not emotional stress (I'm only in school now and not working, so I'm more relaxed than I've been in years). I did a half Ironman 9/18 and got my period 9/19. I didn't cut back on my training too much until we decided to start trying (late September), so it may have been a combination of increased breastfeeding overlapping with physical stress from nursing. I didn't realize it was normal to have anovulatory cycles! How did you know? Were you temping and tracking ovulation, or were you missing periods? I hope you get good news soon!
@lmmtravels - we have 2 nephews and the step niece, so I think the 2yo nephew will get a ninja turtles one (his dad/my bro will flip with excitement) and I'm not sure what the other will be. I had fun making it, so yeah, would love to make more. @adirat - you always have some great new knowledge. I didn't ever think of WHY the chances are only 20% each month. @NYTino24 - ugh...I hate stupid tree light issues. @Daisymae6215 - I've only ever knit before too. Crocheting was pretty easy with my knit knowledge. I watched a few youtube videos to help. @laurad75 - sorry about the tough cycle. @spiderlover25 - I've looked at whole30, but don't think I'd have the motivation for it. DH would NEVER do it with me. @LuND - youtube taught me to crochet. @wabash15 - glad DD is doing well. My nephew had tubes put in and they told us it was pretty easy and a fairly standard thing now. I hope that was the case for you.
Thanks for all the love on the hat I made. It only took me about 3 days, and I had so much fun. I may make a bunch and put them on Etsy. It would be a fun side project.
@spiderlover25 I’m sorry my stats were disheartening to you!
I shared it because I found it comforting at my point in this process and hoped
someone else would too.
@Sailing_Mama that's okay because I know gifts aren't his love language. He's more of an acts of service and quality time kinda guy. In fact, he planned out our annual trip to Rockefeller Center to recreate our first picture together by the tree. He also grocery shops, cooks, and washes / dries clothes while reading labels and following directions. Who need some gifts with a guy like that?!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@laurad75, I'm so frustrated for you. Sorry that happened.
@Njtrimed , I've heard medical school is so stressful. It's great that you are back to ovulating despite the stress.

@swimsister no!!! It's ok. My situation is just different and I always think about flipping coins when I ovulate. I always think maybe this month will be the correct side (which obviously I don't usually know.) But even with crazy odds, many women get KU every day so I'll keep the faith!
@Brooklyngirl6 your first day of full red flow (enough to fill a tampon or pad by the end of the day) is CD1. That being said I would only count today as cd1 if that happens but most likely it will be tomorrow

@Brooklyngirl6 I would probably count that as CD1, but it can be dependent on your usual cycles. Last month was my first month off BC in 10+ years and I hadn't had AF for over 6. So my first day of AF I didn't have hardly anything until around 5pm and it was very, very light. Over 4 days, it remained quite light and spotty. But I still counted the whole 4 days as AF and CD 1-4. Never filled a pad or tampon though.
Finally back in my own bed! @dragonfly87@starla I am nervous but I am going to try to stay positive even if BFN thanks for taking a look! I think it's likely I O'd that day too @wabash15
Hope to see some new grads tomorrow!

Re: TWW Wednesday
@KhRun17 That looks awesome!

I am beginning to think something is going on with my body at those hours because I didn't have to go pee at all of those times, I just literally "wake up" and open my eyes, like at those exact times (plus or minus 10 minutes). It's very strange and frustrating.

Eh, I am not a huge holidays person...but I don't really like the cold weather. So I feel like this:
@adirat thank you so much for posting that. I was feeling a bit down this morning, but cheering up a little bit now.

@laurad75 I'm sorry about the early O messing up the IUI plans. FX for a better result next month.
@Ohemgee Sorry for the BFN.
DS2: EDD- 09.08.17
@juneroseruby: I have tried not to look at the clock (i.e., my phone) a few times...but then I get paranoid that I am going to oversleep and my alarm isn't set or something weird. But I should try to avoid looking at it so often and see if that helps.
juliebeannn @Ohemgee @JulesDP : Sorry for the BFN ladies
@adirat I’ve been thinking something similar (but different lol) to your R/R since listening to this podcast a few weeks ago. Specifically this:
“We like to tell stories and find patterns that aren’t really there. And if you flip a coin, say, ten times, most people think — and they’re correct — that on average you should get five heads, five tails. The problem is they think that should happen in any ten coin flips. And of course it’s very probable that you might get eight heads and two tails and it’s even possible to get ten heads in a row. But people have this notion that randomness is alternating. And that’s not true. “
So it’s entirely possible that I’ve over here just flipping tails on a coin that lands tails 80% of the time. That’s not necessarily strange or abnormal.
@Flinstone I’m sorry you’re dealing with obnoxious high school BS. It can be so hard to break into new friend groups. Lol at your DH’s solution though!
@LadyMillil Good luck with your parents in your apartment! Do you have a spare bedroom for them or are they on the couch?
@laurad I’m so sorry you missed your O this cycle. That’s really rough. **Hugs**
Month/Cycle: 8/8
CD/DPO: 29/15
Timing: Good
Testing: A really high temp today led me to test again “just to be sure”, BFN.
R/R: I realized this morning that I won’t have a child in my 20’s. It surprised me that that wasn’t a milestone I’d been keeping in mind; it just hit me that it has passed. I think I’m ok about it, but I think that’s mostly because of the other things going on in my life right now.
CS/Q:
GTKY: How are you feeling about the holidays right now? Show me in a GIF!
@Ohemgee @dinosaur ugh, so sorry for the BFNs
@littlebug2010 you like wrapping??? Can you please come wrap presents for me? I pay in wine!

@sugargirl1019 sorry for CD1 hugs and wine
@adirat I'm glad that the 20% stat made you feel better about where you are in your journey.
@flinstone Sorry you had to deal with that, its ridiculous for adult women to act like that, you shouldn't have to put up with that kind of crap
@daisymae6215 the earliest to get a BFP is usually 8dpo but that is super early and the most reliable is 14dpo... I guess it all depends on if your ok seeing BFNs
@starla @virginiaham @ohemgee @dinosaur @swimsister sorry for the BFNs
@laurad75 still sending hugs your way. How early in your cycle does your RE begin monitoring? Mine would do CD3 and then depending on how things looked I would be back in less than a week for a follow up ultrasound... I hope your talk with the doc is productive on monday...
@vegetalienne GL tomorrow... there is a chance you could have o'd on CD17 since you weren't tracking 2ndary signs...

**end TW**
