Our cherished rainbow baby, Iris Aurora, arrived this morning Aug 27 at 10:06 am. She was born sunny-side up weighing 8lbs 12 oz, and measuring 20.5 in long.
Birth story: I woke up this morning at 3 am with significant lower back pain. I soon realized I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart. Spoke to my midwife at 4 am and agreed to meet her at the hospital around 5 am.
When we arrived, the midwife confirmed it was baby time. I laboured in the tub for almost two hours, when I was almost complete.
It took an hour or so for the last lip to retract, and then I got stuck pushing for awhile with not a lot of progress. Finally the midwife broke my water--apparently it was the most she's ever seen-- and that caused the final 30-45 minutes of labour to come on hard and fast. Her head was born in one contraction and then for what seemed an eternity, we had to wait for the next contraction to push out her shoulders and body.
The midwives put her on my chest immediately and we got over an hour of skin to skin time.
Overall, this was my dream birth experience and I am so grateful that I went into labour on my own after being induced with DD.
Tatum James was born 8/17 @12:32am 9lb 5oz on his EDD. My water broke 8/16 @ 3:40am we headed into the hospital shortly after. I was only 1-2cm dilated and was slowly progressing. I was fully dilated by 8pm but baby was still high up so I had to labor down. I began pushing at 9:30pm and after 21 hours of labor our bundle of joy was here!
Aria Jeanne was born at 39w 3d on August 23rd at 543am. She was 7lb 2.5oz 20.5 inches long.
Birth story: My water broke at 2am after I woke up to go to the bathroom. There was done muconium staining but the hospital didn't seen worried just told me to come in since I wad GBS+. Contractions started around 230 coming every 3 minutes. When I got to the hospital I was already at 2cm but the nurse said something didn't feel right during the check.
Ultrasound confirmed she was breech, we were in shock since we thought she was head down the whole pregnancy. They wouldn't allow a vaginal birth, no one was comfortable enough to deliver her that way so I was prepped for a c-section and had her after barely 2 hous of labor. Despite being extremely upset about the birth experience I'm glad she's finally here and that we are both safe and healthy.
Our little lady, Rebecca LaNay, was born Thursday, Aug 25th at 1030 am. 8lbs 11oz and 21 inches long!
We went in for an induction Thursday morning. They started pitocine around 745 am. I told the nurse that i had a history of precipitous labor. I dont think she quite belived me, but she went ahead and got everything ready just incase.
I had some very mild contractions over the next hour then they fizzled out. I decided I was in for a long day.
My doc came in at 930 on his way to a C section and broke my water. Very intense contractions started right away. 20 minutes later I started throwing up. The nurse checked me and said I was a 7. She offered me an epidural which I turned down. She looked at me like I had three heads. Lol
Around 1015 I asked to be checked again because I was feeling the urge to push. My doc walked in and checked me and said it was go time. At 1020 I started pushing. Three contractions later, I was holding my baby.
The nurse was very glad she listened to me.. She said in her 34 years as a Larbor and delivery nirse, she'd never actually had a mother with precipitous labor. 2 hours and 45 minutes! I didn't tear at all. Baby had some bruising on her face from coming out so quickly, but it faded pretty fast. I could not have dreamed of a better labor and delivery.
Amelia Annabelle was born August 21st at 4:18pm weighing 6lbs 15oz
Contractions started at 6:30am about 12 minutes apart. Around 9:00 after timing them and realizing they were getting closer and closer together at 7 minutes apart, we called our families and had my dad head over to take care of DS. After speaking with our OB, we grabbed our things and headed over to the hospital. Since it was a Sunday and most patients in L&D were heading home, the whole department was quiet and calm. The nurse checked me and I was at 4cm and 80% effaced. The contractions started coming on more intensely at 3 minutes apart and I decided to request the epidural. Once the epidural was in I felt so much better and was able to focus more. The nurse kept having to adjust the heart monitor on my belly lower and lower trying to find LO's heartbeat, turns out she was moving down really quickly! Within 2 hours the nurse checked me and her head was right there, which explained all the pressure I was feeling. Everyone started scrambling and all of a sudden it was time to push. Amelia was out in 8 minutes of pushing and I was able to grab her to bring her straight to my chest. We did skin to skin for a little while before she was bathed. She latched on right away and since then has been nursing like a rockstar. She came out with a full head of hair and is the sweetest little baby. We are in love! DS is doing wonderful with his baby sister, we are so proud of him!
This is a bit delayed, but I'm so happy to announce the birth of Mason Alexander!
I was checked on Friday, 8/19 and I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. I got a membrane sweep and woke up at 3am Saturday morning with consistent contractions. I labored at home for a while and we got to the birthing center around 8:30pm. I was 6cm dilated at this point. Mason joined us at 1:24am LAST Sunday morning - 8/21, exactly one week before daddy's 30th birthday! He was 7lb 12oz and 19 inches long. We are so in love with him! I had an unmedicated birth at a birthing center and it was a difficult, but very rewarding experience.
None of the pictures we took at the birthing center showed Mason's face
This was taken at home when Mason was one day old.
Anna Claire made her grand entrance on August 26th at 5:46 pm. She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long. Will try to write up my birth story soon, but for now I will share some photos!
Damien Jacob was born August 30th 3:26am 6lbs 13ozs and 19 3/4"
I was scheduled to come in at 6 am on the 29th to start my induction, but when I called at 5am they had no beds available. So I was put on call. We kept DS home from school just incase, plus he was sick. We finally got the call at 11am to come in. By the time I finally got hooked and induction started it was a quarter till 1. I was only 2 cm and still 80 percent. I stayed like that for awhile. Contractions were getting strong so I asked for epidural around 5pm, which hurt alot. Felt good. By 7 I could feel everything again. I could walk around if I wanted to, even with pressing for extra. So they tried another reliever in my back. I never seen my DH freak out and get scared for me like last night. After she put it in. I had ringing in my ears and I couldn't respond to simple questions. My heart rate jumped to 146. It finally when back to normal 5 mins later. They said they wouldn't be breaking my water last night since my doctor wasn't at the hospital and he would do it in the morning. My water wasn't going to break on its own, so we sent everyone home around 10pm. 1am comes..and my doctor is in the hospital because another one of his patients was in labor. So while he was there he broke my water at 3 cm. She checked me an hour later and I was at 4cm. She said don't worry about getting people there because it might still be awhile. While all this is happening my epidural is wearing off again. And they used the same medicine that made my heart and blood pressure go crazy but this time she went slowly. 30 mins go by I still feel pain so me and the nurse go back and forth pressing the epidural button. I told her I had immense pressure/pain in my butt. She said that's good. She checked me 30mins later cause it got really painful. Within an hour I went to 4cm to 8cm. So it's 3am and I'm calling my mom and my mil to come down, thinking they had time. NOPE lol I started pushing 10 mins later. And 4 contractions later he was out. My mom was going to be in there with us, but I'm really glad the way it worked out. Just my DH and me, and an amazing nurse named angela. The nurses kept saying he's so cute, he has dimples! My DH and I were crying and we're so happy. Our DS1 is so happy to be a big brother!!
On August 13th at 11:53pm we welcomed Jackson Into the world! He was born at 38w5d and was 20" long and 8lbs1oz.
At 2:30am on 8/13 my water broke with no contractions. DH and I called the doctor and then cleaned and did some laundry and then headed to the hospital at 5am. I started having contractions on the way there which were only a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. After being admitted and having my antibiotics started (gbs +) I asked to have the epidural ASAP. My pain was only a 4 but I didn't want there to be a chance of not being able to get an epidural. So I got the epidural at 8am and started pitocin. I progressed to 9cm and 80% effaced and couldn't progress any further. I spent that entire day sleeping and watching Netflix with DH and hanging out with family. Only around 9pm did my epidural start wearing off and I felt what back labor is and oh my God my pain was a 15 but the anesthesiologist came back and fixed me! At 10:30pm my doctor came in and said I could either stick it out for another 2 hours and hope I'll progress but that was doubtful or I could go ahead and have the c section. I was beyond scared. I never considered I would have a c section. I kept telling the doctor I thought I was going to die and it didn't feel right to have the section. My husband and I decided it was the best thing to do and they started prepping me. I have to admit the c section was great. It was fast and painless. Jack came out healthy and hungry! He was rooting the second they put him on my chest! It turns out Jack was sunny side up and had his head positioned wrong so he never would've come out. Even though I didn't have the delivery I thought I would I still got my hour of skin to skin as the stitched me up and got to save my placenta for encapsulation. Everything was perfect and painless. I technically labored for 22 hours but was in real pain for about 30minutes. Jack is doing great and breast feeds like a pro! He only lost 2% of his body weight and is up to 9lbs5oz at 2 weeks old! He's perfect!! Dad and I are crazy in love over the moon happy!
Our baby Audrey Claire was born on August 29 at 10:42am weighing 8 lbs 1oz. and 20.4 inches long.
I woke up with contractions at 3:20am (3 hours after her due date). I hadn't felt anything like it before, so I figured this had to be a contraction and I started timing them. They were already 10 minutes apart so we rushed off to the hospital. I timed them on the way and they were 6 minutes apart by the time we arrived. When I got to the hospital I was 3cm and started asking about the epidural. I got it placed within the hour and it worked okay but my left side wasn't taking as good as my right. It started to wear off on the left side and they ended up refilling it 2 more times. The doctor came in and checked me and I had gone from 3cm to 5cm in about an hour. Then from 5cm to 9cm at the next check. At 9:50am my contractions were very close together and the epidural had pretty much worn off unfortunately. At one point I was given oxygen because I felt I couldn't breathe deep enough to push well. About 10:15 I started pushing and she was here at 10:42. So, from start to finish my labor was about 7 hours which I wasn't expecting being a FTM. I had a small episiotomy with 4 stitches, but recovery has been good so far.
We are working at breastfeeding and worked with a lactation consultant in the hospital which I highly recommend. Finally home today and ready to start life as a family of three!
Ivy Grace was born on August 22nd at 10:45pm! 8lb 13oz, they told us 27 inches (!!!) but it was actually 21.3. We checked into the hospital at 8:00pm on August 21 to be induced, and the meds began around 10pm that night. The next day around noon, they broke my water, and I got the epidural placed about two hours later. They had to keep playing around with the pitocin because my blood pressure kept spiking, but finally around 9 or 9:30 I was finally dilated to almost 10cm, and I started pushing at 10pm. I pushed for 45 minutes before our little one arrived.
The poor girl had such a hard time with the birth! After about half an hour of pushing, we just could not get her head through, so the doc had to do an episiotomy to get her out. A couple more pushes, and Ivy came out all at once with the cord wrapped around her neck tight enough that they had to get her on oxygen to get her breathing and pinked up. Hubby and I have never seen so many nurses flood into a room at once! After some skin to skin time, we got up to the recovery room. Around 3am, our nurse came in to take Ivy to the NICU after some concerning blood work results and her spiking a fever at birth. She was there for two days before they gave her the all clear to come home with us on the 25th. She is doing great now, and you would never know that she had any troubles. Perfectly healthy, and aptly nicknamed the 'bully of the NICU' for her size!
Melia Koi joined us on September 1 at 12:33 pm. She was 7lbs 9oz and 20.5 inches long. At almost 41 weeks and no change in progress we decided to go ahead with a rcs instead of waiting to see if I would go into labor on my own. It allowed us to make my brother's wedding. After a long few days we are ready to relax.
Baby Albert joined our family on August 23 at 8 am at 39w5d. He weighed 7 lb 5 oz and was 21 inches long.
With my gestational diabetes, I scheduled an induction on August 22. I was almost 2 cm dilated when I was admitted. We started with pitocin and slowly increased the dose over time. With lots of walking and bouncing on the birth ball and eventually having my water broken artificially, it still took several hours to get to 4 cm. With more bouncing and moving around the room, I finally got to 6 cm, but then I was stuck there for 7+ hours. Since I never progressed past 6 cm, I ended up having a c-section. Afterwards my doctor told me he was sunny side up and turned into facing my left shoulder. Tricky! The labor and delivery didn't turn out the way I had hoped for, but he's here with us safely and that's all that matters!
ok so i know i'm very late post this but baby aj decided to come out 8-17 at 9:18pm. i started going into labor at work on 8-15 at about 1am. we went to the hospital when i got home from work but wasnt progressing fast enough so got sent home. then spent 2 days in early labor. then went to work 8-17 to get maternity leave paperwork since i took off early but couldn't get it due to hr being on vaca and no one else knew where she put the papers. so went home and took a shower and laid down in bed and started watching ghost adventures then at about 4:30 as my hubby opened the door to check on me my water broke. i tried to stay calm as i changed so we could leave. we got to the hospital and i was at a 5 so they got me in a delivery room. i was terrified. but i had great nurses who helped keep me and my hubby calm. his mom was there with us and tried to help. but at at around 8 i couldn't take it anymore and broke down and got the epidural. then at around 8:45 i started feeling like i need to push but wasnt far enough along. then at around 9 i got to start pushing and at 9:18 my beautiful 9.4lbs 22inch baby boy was born. but wanst crying i was terifyed something was wrong but he had pooed before my water broke so he had stuff in his lungs. he had to be taken away and put on oxygen. but the next morning when my hubby got there we went to see him and they took him off the oxygen. but he had to stay hooked up to a iv and monitors. but at 3 days old they took him off everything circumcised him and we got to come 2 hours later. in the pic he is 3 weeks old and rite after he born in the other
