Ok, so this is not meant to be a personal poll of name choices or act like the Baby Names board... I saw some thoughts on that in one of the UO threads a week+ ago

I just wanted to create a thread where we could share names, talk about the process of choosing a name, the 'fun' of coming to agreement on names, etc.
So those that want to share... what name(s) have you picked out? anyone at odds with their SO over name choices? anyone have a method to the madness to prevent a battle over the name(s)?
Re: Names
So far we have:
Boy:
Tanner Brent(my brothers' name who passed away 2 years ago)
Grant Edward
Girl:
Kyla Corrine
Lily Ann
Audrey Ann
Adeline (not sure on middle name)
If it's anything like DD's pregnancy we narrowed down the names to 2 options while I was in labor. I'm a type A planner, but my husband is far from it. So having the running list is the closest thing I'll get to "planning" our children's names.
17 months TTC and 1miscarriage, 1 chemical pregnancy, rainbow baby born 2/16/15
TTC 2.0
16 months TTC, 2 chemical pregnancies, EDD 6/3/17
I feel like this time, I just give in on the name as long as I get dibs/decision rights for the middle name.
I can't decide if I just go ahead and say, ok - I'm fine with it, or if we keep going round and round when I know nothing will be like my favorite name that DH hates and I like DH's choice well enough.
I feel like girl names are so much trickier. DD is Penelope, which I love, but I'm starting to have name regret because I feel like we boxed ourselves in. If this baby is a girl idk how we'll come up with a name that is as strong AND feminine. So far we like Lily, but it doesn't feel nearly as strong to me. I also really like Phoebe, but I don't think it is as pretty/feminine sounding as Penelope.
I really want to have a meaning/reason for our name though, and so far we have nothing. DD is named for a family member, so don't really want her sibling to have a name that we just picked because we liked the sound of it.
Boy: Andrew after his father who is diseased.
Girl: Annabella after his mom, who happened to be diagnosed with terminal cancer last night. It was a shock to say the least.
We keep my family names as middle names. They are so Italian and do not go with our last name at all!!
with DD we both went through a name book and wrote out names we liked and then saw if we had any that matched. We had one, and then we felt weird about using it because DH has a still-living extended family member by that name that he was close to growing up (his grandmother's much younger sister), and we didn't use it. We wound up making a list of names in the second tri that was compiled of names that were on one of our lists but the other person was ok with them too. We crossed stuff off as we went and names would grow on us here and there and we arrived at the hospital with 4 legitimate choices for first name (we had already decided on my grandmother's name for her middle). DD was born at 11:55pm and we were down to two names so we slept on it. Well..."slept" on it. There was a newborn in the room and my body had just been destroyed haha. We liked them both so DH let me have final pick. I went with Julia.
This time, I think that second choice name is still in the running, but we'd like to come up with 2-3 more options in case she is born and it doesn't sound right. We like to see the baby before making a final decision. Our other name does sound good with Julia at least. It's harder now because we definitely don't want another J name (I have a J name to it would be weird if my daughters and I all matched I think), and most names that end in "ia" or "a" sound too matchy. Also names that end in an "elle" sound rhyme with our last name. So we have our work cut out for us. Highly likely we'll just use the existing name though. We haven't decided on a middle yet, but since this is probably our last kid, it'll probably either be something from DH's family or my middle name from birth (which I dropped when I got married - but DH and I both have great aunts with that name, so it would work on several levels).
For boys we like Ryder, Cameron, and Jackson with my BF's first name as the middle.
Girls so far we have Avery, Maya, Addison, or Isla.
We will do a family name for a middle name.
We have a name for a girl, composed of his grandmother's first name (they were very close and she passed away last year) and a middle name that is part of names of important people on both sides of the family. We both love the name and the family history part is really just a bonus.
The boy name has been more difficult. Initially we both liked Michael as a first name and I was especially fond of it because it's my dad's middle name and DH loved the name for a number of reasons (including some family history), but now I'm second guessing it because of my cousin Michael. Other than that, we've thrown around a few others, but they've all centered heavily on his family. I don't mean to sound like a brat (and by all means, you can tell me if I do), but I feel like his most recent idea really heavily focuses on his family to the complete exclusion of mine. Basically he wants to take his first name which he shares with his grandfather (I'm all for this) and then find a middle name that would create the same initials as his grandfather (completely different than DH's). Now, if we naturally found a name like that that worked, I would actually be okay with it, but I don't like the idea of forcing a name we don't love just so he can completely match DH's grandfather.
Sorry this was a little longer than I intended! I haven't found a way to say all this to DH yet, so this ended up a little vent-y.
Our top name for DD3 if she were a boy was Beau, which I still love, however, I have a ridiculous need to shorten names, so I'm leaning toward Bodie/Bodhi (nn Bo).
other top choices:
Porter (my fave)
Cooper (my fave)
Wyatt (H's fave)
Kellen (H's fave)
other contenders
Cole
Reid
Greyson
my H had thrown in some doozies. I'm super sad we won't get to use our girl name which was Darby.
A girl.... that's tough. DH let me give DD my mom's name as her middle name, so I feel like I have to give our next girl my MIL's name. But her name is Pamela, which I don't think goes as a middle name at all.
I'd be totally open to hearing first name suggestions that go with Pamela.
My DH picked our sons name and I just let him have it . Of course I wouldn't change it for anything but it's not my style. His name is Chase.
Now I feel like I need another 5 letter, one syllable name but that's hard!
I feel like this babe will be a girl. I really like the name Lydia, I also like Claire but I worry it's a little to plain or something. I have no boy names picked out yet.
We were Team Green with both of our daughters, so our boys name still stands. Joseph Anthony. It's a family name.
For a girls name we've narrowed it down to Eleanor Teresa or Margaret Teresa.
DD2 8.22.13
MMC 1.4.17 at 16w
Expecting #3, EDD 1.29.18
but no middle name seems to go with it.
I'm really thinking this babe is a boy. DH was a huge Lost fan. I'm an English teacher, so it works for both of us. I would want to do a family name or two for the middle name. I love the ring of two middle names with our one syllable last name.
For a boy I like Daniel Jude. For a girl I have always loved Audrey, but I let my husband name our first and only girl, Adrianna. If we have a girl this time her MN will be Ann....is audrey too similar to Adrianna?
Sibling names - Adrianna, Bennett, Cameron. We didn't plan on ABC so it's funny I like a "D" name for a boy.
Would love girl ideas that maybe mean surprise, bonus etc or even "4". I just posted this morning on the name board about this!! I don't love super feminine names, but I feel like Adrianna puts me in that category.
For girls, I feel like all of the names I like sound to similar to Kenna (I really like Nina or Hanna) and I don't want to do another K name or a name that ends in an "uh" sound. I LOVE the name Allegra but it's more of a guilty pleasure name and I don't think I would ever use it (our last name starts with a D so her name would literally be Allegra-D). We might use Alissa as an alternative.
I've also been perusing the announcement threads on other birth month boards for inspiration.
BFP #2: due 6/30/2017, MMC found 12/7/2016
BFP #3: due 10/21/2018
Our boy name is Dean Kent, dean from supernatural and kent from superman.
Our girl name is Luna Raven, luna from harry potter and raven from xmen.
My husband and i are well guess you can say nerdy, we had a hard time picking a first name for our daughter as my husband wouldnt love any of the onez i did, i finally decided i would look at female superhero names and see if i could find one i liked which is where i found supergirls name kara. My husband loved it and was our winner. With our other names we wanted to keep the superhero theme in the names some how, we also both love supernatural so we got our boy name from there and im a huge harry potter fan and just love luna as a name so thats how we got our girl name.
I would like a name that goes well with Sinclair. My husband is very picky. This time around we don't both love a name so we have a few options and I'm thinking we'll probably decide after seeing the baby.
Boys (no middle name yet)
Ian
Langston
Alexander
Elijah
Girl -Middle name is after my mom Marcia (pronounced Mar-See-ah)
Aubrey
Sydney(all of our names start with S)
Camille

Here We Go Again!!
My question is, how weird is Tobi for a girl??
I think it flows well with my sons name and goes well with our last name. However, is it too weird that it is spelled with an i at the end and is it even unisex? Ugh, husbands have to make things so hard!
I would love to use Sydney but it's a family name for my best friend's husband and I respect that they shared their love for that name with me. So, it's off limits.
We are currently leaning towards Sloane. Had my son been a girl we would have used the name and I still love it. Middle name, though...no clue.
If this his baby is a girl it's either Gratia Lorraine or Natalie Jean. (Gratia is a family name, and means "full of grace" which is what my name means. Lorraine was my grandma. We both just love Natalie and Jean is my MN).
If we have a boy we're lost. Having such a hard time. Current "meh, we like it" names are: Chase, Blair, Reese and Charlie.
I think this baby is a boy...he will be a nameless
boy if I'm right!
Edit to add: @kassyfry I personally like Toby for a boy better...Maybe Tori (Tory?) for a girl?
DH: 29
DS: 18 months 4/2/2015
Baby #2 EDD: 6/1/2017
Just wondering what other people's opinions are on Mae as the middle name. We are still inclined to use it bc we love the way it sounds but don't want her name to be silly.
1- We are an ethnically diverse family and our last name is OBVIOUSLY my Mr's ethnicity so I wanted a first name that would be a nod to my ethnic background, too.
3- all the kids in his family have the same initials. Girls share one set and boys share another set.
4- we lost my Mom about 3 months before I had DD so we wanted to include her name, or a derivative, somewhere
5- since English is a 2nd language for my ILs, it was important to me to pick a name they could easily pronounce
We chose a first name that is the more ethnic version of my deceased grandmother's middle name/ his sister's first name/ my great aunt's name. DD's middle name is my Mom's middle name (also a nickname for same grandmother from the first name). Bonus: follows the family tradition with initials for his family
For this little one I really want to be Team Green but I feel certain we are having a boy. So of course that's the only name I have picked.
This boy name is a derivative of my grandfather's who passed away a week before we got married, middle name is my FILs American first name, and the boy will share the Mr's initials. To me it's perfect. The Mr seems lukewarm. I think he just doesn't care and any name that he's ok with is a good choice.
I had him give me a list of names for DD and they were all cheesy names that sounded like famous musicians. I am not naming our kids like cover bands trying to pay homage to the original act.
Can you get a baby name book and look for T girl names that you actually like? I personally hate the feminization of masculine names by adding I or Y to them, and Tobi seems more like a nickname to me than anything, but plenty of people sre into that. A good unusual girl name with T that I like is Taryn. or if you're into gender neutral, maybe Taylor? Or Toni is the same style as Tobi but is more commonly used. if you don't love Tobi look for something else, you should both love the name.
Girl names:
Ruby Jane (our #1 choice at the moment)
Eva Jane
Jane Elizabeth
Boy names:
Thomas (the only one in the running right now)
Samuel (my favorite)
Joseph (I also really like)
Right now, we like Maxwell (Max) Emile and Margot Elizabeth. We were going through a baby name book the other night and found a few more boys names we liked though, so we'll see. We liked Cohen, Callum (Cal), and Oliver (Ollie), but will probably go with Max, as the others seem a bit trendy.
