  • Had a major setback tonight. Intense swelling in both legs that included pain/tingly numbness and a headache. Called the on call nurse, went to the ER, had to leave my 4 day old baby at home for the first time ever. Got to the ER and was told that I would be given diuretics and could no longer breastfeed. I've done some research and I can still breastfeed but it will be hard and will rely on a good pumping schedule so I don't lose my supply and donor milk in the meantime. I'm pretty distraught, they ruled out a blood clot in my legs and lungs and couldn't find anything else wrong and mine and baby's EBF relationship is really being jeapordized still. Will have to meet with my OB to follow up and discuss my options. I've never had swelling or BP problems this pregnancy so since there's no history and they found nothing wrong, I'm really considering not taking the diuretics. It's just been such a rough evening. All I wanna do is snuggle my baby. :(
  • YAY! Congratulations! And I'm so happy that this birth should be the end of your HG. I know that was not a fun process. Sending all of my happy thoughts and love your way, hun.

  • @ashleaf2018 oh man.. that's frustrating. I hope they're able to figure it out and you're able to push for EBF like you want. Give yourself some grace during this time and know that whatever happens it's not your fault. Hugs momma ❤️
  • @ashleaf2018 - congrats on Rhett and I'm sorry about the swelling.  I have no experience as a future FTM, but I have heard that swelling is not that uncommon post c-section (although I don't know how much is normal, or what the treatment is).  But I hope that your OB has some better advice for you this AM.  Fingers crossed for good news.
  • @ashleaf2018 I'm so sorry for the setbacks. I hope you get some answers and that things improve quickly!

  • @ashleaf2018 I'm sorry you had to leave baby Rhett so soon--I know that's not easy!

This may not make you feel better, but I had extreme swelling after my CS that lasted a week and a half. My skin felt like it was going to burst on my legs (I had swelling in my arm and lower back as well), and I was pretty sure someone stole my ankle bones. After drinking a lot lot lot lot lot of water, my body finally reabsorbed it and I can fit in clothes again ha. The doctors checked it every day I was in the hospital but didn't seem concerned.

It may just be your body catching up to the surgery, especially considering they found nothing wrong. I didn't have swelling issues during pregnancy either. Listen to your body---you and Rhett are going to get through this!
  • Sorry complications are popping up now. Hopefully your OB can find the remedy soon!
