Monday Thank-fest 11/21/2016

I know we have some Canadian ladies in the group but for the most of us, Thanksgiving is this week!

What are you thankful for?

What are your plans for the holiday?

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  <3

Re: Monday Thank-fest 11/21/2016

  • Thankful for: My family and this sweet baby doing a great job at growing. Also, I just found out we get out of work early on Wednesday. WOOT!

Plans: T-gives in Maine with DH family. Not looking forward to the drive (4-5 hours) but not having to cook or host is awesome.

Eating: PIES, GLORIOUS, PIES!!! Oh, and stuffing and mashed potatoes drowning in giblet gravy.

BF: Still dealing with insurance problems... I'll just leave that right there. Cannot spend anytime even thinking about it right now. BLAH!

  • A Thanksgiving related bitch fest: DH's family only likes cornbread stuffing...which I find absolutely repulsive. So even though I don't HAVE to cook, I will be making a small side of my mom's stuffing recipe made with good, ole fashioned American white bread. You know, the really healthy stuff! :D

  • Thankful to still be pregnant today. Thanksgiving day will be 34 weeks which is apparently a huge milestone.

Plans: going to MIL's on thanksgiving day to celebrate and eat lots of food. Then we are dropping DD off at my parents house for a couple of days to give us a much needed break! We'll go back to my parents' on Saturday to celebrate thanksgiving with them and to get DD back.

Eating: I'm ready for all of it! I don't discriminate when it comes to food!

BF: I'm tired of this baby trying to escape and of all the BH contractions I've had lately. But I'm focusing on positives this week so I digress.

  • What are you thankful for? Also thankful for still being pregnant today! And not in the hospital. Almost to 31 weeks (Thursday).

What are your plans for the holiday? I'm still on bedrest and SO is working so I'll be celebrating with the dog and cats. As long as I'm not in the hospital I really don't care at all!

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  Um, whatever I have in the fridge/ freezer?

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? Share 'em here! So sick of feeling stressed about the baby, can't wait to make it to 34 weeks (crossing fingers). Also, my car died. Hopefully its something simple. Oh, and the lady that does disability for my OB is gone this entire week and she never completed the paperwork that she received last Wednesday that happens to be due by this Friday (meaning disability claim will be denied again because of her lack of punctuality).
  • what are you thankful for? My incredibly supportive husband, healthy baby, and a flexible job that allows me to work from home whenever I'm not feeling 100%. Also, this weekend we found out that some close friends are also expecting, so we're excited to have parent friends!

holiday plans: having friends over for a small dinner. Small in terms of number of people, because I'm cooking for an army!

Looking forward to eating: zomg all the sides! Gravy on everything! And pumpkin cheesecake!

Thanksgiving week BF: I know I complain about my sister a lot (whose wedding coincides with my due date), but we had another tense interaction this week and it was the final straw. I couldn't stop crying. It just breaks my heart that I might actually lose my sister's friendship over something that is bringing us so much joy. Part of me just wants to throw in the towel and stop trying. But I'm really hoping that once both of our hormone levels come back to normal we can find our way back to each other.

  • Thankful for: friends and family, our wonderful church group, this community, baby progressing normally

I'm hosting T-day, but intend to do mostly instant/quick stuff, outside of the turkey and my special homemade mac & cheese. Also offered to do a brunch if people want to come and hang out earlier in the day.

Looking forward to my mac & cheese (I use 4 cups of cheddar for this thing, it oozes cheese) and the ham my mom cooking.

BF: OMG this indigestion just started up again and now I'm worried it'll be ongoing through T-day. Plus, UGH all the cleaning to do. DH is off Wed and I should have a half day, so we'll get it done, but I'm exhausted and just thinking of it makes me want to curl underneath my bed covers.

    Me: 33 DH: 38 Married: 1/10/15

    3rd Pregnancy EDD: 12/?/21

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • What are you thankful for? 34 weeks tomorrow! That has been our initial goal since my preterm labor started at 30 weeks. Every day past tomorrow is just bonus time for him to keep growing! Also someone plowed our driveway this morning. We were struggling to find someone but somehow the driveway is clear after about 15 inches of snow!

What are your plans for the holiday? I'm still on bedrest (to a lesser degree after tomorrow) and now I'm got this fancy walking boot, so we're just going to my mom's house for dinner. We'll probably eat and leave shortly after our meal.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating? Everything! My amazing mom makes every part of the meal gluten free for me so I don't have to miss out on anything. Plus I get all the leftovers!

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? @Litzi I'm stuck in the disability limbo too. My doctor's office had the paperwork for over two weeks. I just want to be approved and paid but I have no idea when that will even happen. I also have to call my work and figure out how they want to handle my time off once my FMLA is over. I just don't have to patience to deal with it this week. Plus it seems like a pointless conversation until I know when he's here and how much additional time I'll need to be out.
  • I am thankful for being 32 weeks pregnant. We tried for a good while, and had a real good scare at 6-12 weeks. I am lucky to have such a great and caring husband, and supportive (although sometimes crazy) family.

My plans for Thanksgiving are turkey with my side of the family in the afternoon, then another turkey with my husbands side in the evening. Shame we dont have them together, but then we will have like 60 people in one dinner lol. Plus, I get to eat more!

I am looking forward to eating EVERYTHING! I am sooooo thankful I am pregnant during Thanksgiving. I can't stop thinking about cranberry sauce!

My Thanksgiving week BF is that I had a really cute dress I bought and I am worried that now it'll be too cold. Thanks weather. You've been excruciatingly warm this entire fall, but now that I managed to find a cute outfit to wear with this bump, the weather man is threatening me with a 70 for Thursday. It was 80-90 last week! And it'll 80-90 next week too smh....

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! Feed your LO!

  • What are you thankful for? My wonderful husband. He puts up with so much from me being a hormonal terror, our four year old that thinks she's at least 16, and being the sole breadwinner of our family. Don't know what I'd do without him.

What are your plans for the holiday? Thursday is my DD's fifth birthday. So we have two dinners and a birthday party. We'll be heading to my parent's first, doing the party with the cousins, eating a lunch-dinner around two and then heading to my in-laws for second dinner around five.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  Honestly, I hate this holiday. I'm a vegetarian and no one cooks anything that doesn't have meat in it. Even the green beans get bacon.  :| I usually end up making a meat-free baked ziti. I do love me some mashed potatoes and rolls though. And of course, dessert.

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? I'm beyond exhausted. It doesn't matter how many hours of sleep I get, I am so tired all day long. I feel like a small planet and I can't get up without making a serious effort. Just all the joys of the end of pregnancy.

  • I am most thankful that after everything we have been through that we are pregnant and that at 32 weeks he's still growing in me! Also for my amazing husband, family,  and the worlds best obgyn.

we are doing brunch with my mom's side of the family and then we are going out to dinner and a chop house that is doing thanksgiving dinner. Normally I cook, but it will just be too much for me this year and our house is in the final stages of a remodel, so it's just inconvenient.

i am bummed that I won't be cooking, I have celiacs disease, I usually make the entire meal gluten free, the restaurant won't be doing that for me :(. At brunch we are having homemade cranberries though, so tg for that!

other than awful heart burn, I don't have much to complain about!

Thankful: For H, especially lately, because I feel like all I do is complain about being uncomfortable or wanting our house reno to be done and he has been so comforting and amazing. And complaining aside, I'm so grateful for LO and that we were able renovate our house. I'm also thankful for my nephew because he's the cutest.

Plans: jam packed holiday time! Thanksgiving dinner was moved to 3 pm this year because of my nephew and I am SO happy. We were one of those families who ate Thanksgiving so late--like 7 pm. That was mega stressing me out because I'm so uncomfortable by the end of the day. Now I can binge away and take a few digestion walks afterwards, yeah!!

Food: @MamaandNurse discrimination against the vegetarians! I'm a veg, too, and luckily my family makes an almost entirely vegetarian meal minus turkey (my brother even makes two stuffings, one veggie) and I've been BYOGravy (ha) for years so I can partake in the gravy on everything party. I'm gonna carbo load like I'm a star football player with the Super Bowl the next day.

BF: I've complained enough over the last month, so I'm just going to positive and grateful! I mean, I'd be extra happy if I could sleep through the night... or even just a long, solid stretch... but I'm not bitching... this week...
  • Thankful for: my family, a job that I feel like I'm making a difference, a comfy home that I love to be at.

Plans: people are supposed to come to my house, that will only be about 9 of us for both sides of the family. We have small families. I came down with the stomach virus today though, and I'm hoping it passes quickly so I feel like hosting.

Food: see above about sickness. I don't feel like eating anything right now.

    BF: I feel like crap!
  • @Teach123 hope you feel better soon!
  • What are you thankful for? I'm thankful that my mom seems to be doing really well recovering from surgery and her initial radiation treatments/hormone therapy, and that I have really great ILs who take care of her when I can't. Thankful that LO is growing well and staying put despite all of the stress of the last few months, and for H for working so hard to find a job for next year when we move home.

What are your plans for the holiday? We both have to work since it's not a holiday here, but we're both going to try to take off early so we can at least make a decent dinner for ourselves Thursday night.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating? H bought a metric ton of purple potatoes, so we can eat mashed potatoes for daysssss.  @MamaandNurse and @newyearsevebaby5 I'm pescatarian (which essentially makes me vegetarian for Thanksgiving in most homes) so I feel your pain. When other people hosted, I usually ended up bringing my own stuffing, some sort of baked pasta dish, and a side vegetable, all of which would inevitably get scarfed down by the meat eaters, leaving very little for me. We tried making a tofurkey one year, and it was so bad that we fed it to the chickens on my cousins farm (and the chickens refused to eat it!). Stuck to carb loading after that incident.

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? Just that I can't cook a real Thanksgiving meal this year because of work and life. But that just means I'm already planning for next year!

  • I'm thankful for too much to list here but a few are that I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow, my family, friends, that I have a home to live in and food to eat.
Plans are hosting thanksgiving at our house but we don't really have to cook all that much.
I dnot have a BF at all. I had a great birthday yesterday and I have today off work.

  • What are you thankful for? My family!

What are your plans for the holiday?
Going to my sister's house. Friday we are having a small dinner at home for H cause he has to work on Thursday.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  3 pies, potatoes, turkey

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? Just hope I have enough room in my tummy to eat everything that I want.
  • What are you thankful for?
My amazing husband, my family and friends, as well as my job that let's me work from home when the weather is bad.
What are your plans for the holiday?
I have a gym date with my mom in the morning, the brunch with my dad's family. We're doing dinner Friday night at our house with my in-laws and my FIL and husband are doing pretty much all of the cooking. I also got fancy disposable plates to cut down on dishes.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  3 Mash potatoes, fresh rolls and pumpkin pie :)

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? I have two, neither of which are that big but are both annoying and involve my MIL.

We're doing thanksgiving at my house because it'll be way easier on me, but my MIL is taking every opportunity to complain about it. She's not  cooking, she agrees with our rationale about why it would be easier, she just wants holiday things at her house.

Also I'm trying to get a bunch of projects done around the house before the baby comes and whenever I talk about it she always makes me feel like I'm being rediculous. Last week she was like you're only like 26 weeks, you have plenty of time. I was 32 weeks.... This is her first grandchild how can she be so far off? She also keeps assuming I'll go past my due date because she did with all of her kids but I was born at 36 weeks and my mom was born at 28 weeks. I'm almost getting to the point of yelling "we are not genetically related, early babies run in my family, and even if this baby is late, why would getting things done early be bad?!?!?"

Sorry, long rant. I'm done now :)
  • What are you thankful for?
My Husband, LO, the rest of my family and only having 2.5 weeks left of work!

What are your plans for the holiday?
We are going to my aunt's this year.  It is actually me and DH's first Thanksgiving together.  He works in retail and this year his market in the area we are living.  Last year he was able to go to dinner for the first time in a decade- but since he was working the entire night I did not go with him to his family's (they live 4+ hours away).  Even though he has to go to stores before and after dinner- he is able to have dinner this year and I'm pretty excited to finally be able to spend it together.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  3

Everything!  My aunt had gone to school for culinary arts and than did nothing with it except Thanksgiving.  She makes 3 kinds of stuffing, at least 2 types of potatoes, usually 2 Turkeys and there are always multiple pies and other desserts available too.  Last year she didn't give me any left overs- so I'm really hoping that I get some this year.

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? Share 'em here!

My mother is driving me crazy this week- but that's not new.  She continuously proves herself to be flaky and forgetful.  We were planning on having her be our childcare- but I keep picturing her leaving the baby in a car- so I'm thinking I'll have to start checking out other places.    Other BF is that the internet connection I'm using at work keeps going out.  Why do I even have to come in if nothing is going to work- I'd be more productive at home.

  • What are you thankful for?
I am so thankful for my patient husband!! I have had unrealistic and unfair emotional moments and he has been so sweet about it. I had another crying fit last night, and he takes his time to talk me through it, really LISTEN to my ridiculous concerns and he takes it serious. I don't know how else I would get through this pregnancy! <3

What are your plans for the holiday?
Eating at my parents house! DH is on unknown terms with his family, so we may not be over there this year. and if we're not.... get ready for the fire works... lol

what are you most looking forward to eating?
    3
My Mom's green been casserole smothered in my Dad's turkey gravy. Omg... Heaven...

    Have any Thanksgiving week BFs?

Yes, but currently TB is crashing, so I better submit this now before it eats my whole post... lol

  • What are you thankful for?
I am thankful for so much! My boyfriend, son and job are things I am thankful for everyday.

What are your plans for the holiday?
We plan on going to my boyfriends father's for lunch and my moms for dinner. Definitely not going to go hungry!

what are you most looking forward to eating?
I am looking forward eating to all the sweets and stuffing! I mean everything else sounds great but lately I haven't been very hungry.

    Have any Thanksgiving week BFs?
I feel like i have no room to breathe lately let alone eat anything. I get full after three bites of anything. Of course I run out of room right before the holidays!
  • What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for my family. Job, house, and that this baby is growing well.

What are your plans for the holiday?  We have already started the holiday travel. We are visiting H's parents for the first half of the week and then visiting  my family for the second half.

Most importantly, because we are lucky enough to be in our 3rd trimester during the holidays, what are you most looking forward to eating?  cranberry sauce. I just love it.

Have any Thanksgiving week BFs? my in-laws are driving me crazy. I just can't get comfortable, so that is probably it, the bed isn't very comfortable, and neither are their living room furniture. But they have a lot of cats and their house smells like cat. The cats are friendly, but I don't want a smelly cat (what are they feeding you?) Kneading on my stomach. Plus FIL is that man in the neighborhood that feeds all the feral cats so not only do they have a lot of cats inside, they have a crap ton outside.
