Re: WTO Wednesday 11/16

  • Thank you so much for all the support about starting testing ladies! And my DH has been told on several occasions by several of my girlfriends that he needs to give a SO/DH training on some things. He's Canadian and I must say, they breed em well up there!!

@JuneRoseRuby sorry you're in the same boat! Hoping we both get answers quickly.

@LUND - you mean people have sex besides just to make a baby?!?! MH is getting way into TTC and is saying we need to do it ED and I told him that's not how it works and he said EOD from end of AF to next AF in case my temping, cm, cp, and OPK' s are wrong and we've been missing the FW. It' ll be a while before we have non baby-making sex again I think. But it's still so adorable!!!
@adirat - awesome. thanks for the reading recommendation. I'm on glad no one knows what's good or bad when TTC. makes me feel a little better.
@peedy - I hate when questions disappear from your mind. I'll text them to myself sometimes.
@sugargirl1019 - that is the best gift ever! love it!
@mrsegan13 - *tw the reason I mentioned BCP, TTC and MC was because I have a friend who is on BCP now, and tells me she wants to start trying right after she gets married next June. I just think it takes a little longer than people expect for your body to figure itself out after coming off BC a lot of times, so I personally think she would benefit from coming off it sooner, let her body regulate itself (she's been on it for 15 years... never had a "regular" cycle, sor won't know what that is for her). And the MC comment was because there is some belief that there is a link to that in families and her family has had a LOT. I don't think there's a link between MC and BCP. The link to me is that they both make TTC take longer than you might expect. MC'S can happen and make succeeding harder, and coming off BC can take your body time to adjust. i hope that makes sense. I feel like I just rambled...

TW** There are medical journals speculating that BCP prevent your lining from being thick enough immediately off it, and you need 3 months to allow the lining to thicken. They speculate that an embryo implanting in too thin of a lining doesn't have enough support and will spontaneously miscarriage. I am one of those possibilities. I was the SS that had a 1/1 bfp right off 8 years of bcp.

  • @lmmtravels I am! I make my own body products and such... along with being minimalist, I'm also a bit of a hippy and have been working to cut chemicals out of my daily life. Of course, TTC made that even more of a mission for me, so I have been researching and making more things for us, and then people kept asking me to sell stuff, so I'm giving it a shot!

@adirat Yes! The diapers and pregnant women in all the ads drive me crazy :(

  • @Sailing_mama Seconding @lmmtravels I am interested in this as well. I've been trying to get rid of products with phthalates and parabens (as they are estrogenic) to see if I can lengthen my short luteal phase. It's been challenging to find toiletries I like to replace them.

@adirat Thanks again for the advice. I drink 1-3 glasses of wine a night (every night - judge away) to relax depending on how stressed I am. I know it's a terrible habit. It's going to be much worse to kick than caffeine. I will probably still drink 1 mug of coffee when prego although I say that now and it may change especially if it makes me gag. I did stop drinking alcohol during my TWW two cycles ago so I know I can do it. And actually being pregnant would be even more motivation. It sucks though because it's become such a stress relieving crutch for me. :(

  • @lmmtravels and @adirat I'm happy to share recipes if it's something you might want to make yourself?

I make my own soap (kinda - I use a base that I like and is natural, and then add to it), my own moisturizer, lip balm, scrubs, bath salts, hand sanitizers, etc. I've toyed with my own deodorant, but have trouble with the ones with baking powder, and to be honest I like the mineral one (looks like a big crystal). I do buy my shampoo/conditioner, but that's about it. I also use vinegar to clean almost everything, and then just add essential oils depending on what I'm using it for. I also like to use oils for massage blends (my DH drives a LOT for work and gets pretty sore), as well as just about anything that comes up - headache, (mild) asthma, upset stomach, etc.

Just let me know what you're interested in, and I can post or PM you a recipe/advice if I have it.
  • My body is weird. Day 5 or 6 of AF is usually very heavy, although it was ridiculous this cycle, and then AF ends

Thank you! I would be interested in recipes for moisturizer, lip balm and scrubs (I tried making a scrub with coffee grounds once and it was too gloopy to use).

I clean almost everything with vinegar and baking soda or with lemon halves, and I use a lot of orange oil and lemongrass oil. Since talking to my endocrinologist about progesterone, I've switched to endocrine disruptor-free laundry detergent, shampoo & conditioner, tinted moisturizer (what I use as makeup), and eyeliner. I stopped using hair products since none of the ones I had were free of those chemicals or siloxanes which are also endocrine disruptors.

I haven't swapped out my deodorant -- I tried two of the natural ones and neither of them worked for even a hot second. Maybe I'm too stinky a person? Someone (was it @LuND?) mentioned Piper Wai recently so I'm considering trying that too.

Ditto! I'm in the exact same boat.
  • @LuND Ah too bad :( I was hoping it was a winner.

  • @starla and @LuND I'm in the same club - I try to cut back but some days it just doesn't work. To be honest, it's also the one area where DH isn't overly supportive, and will still pick up a nice bottle of wine for us to share. I figure the TWW is a good chance to cut back drastically, and then if I get a BFP I'm counting on being so excited that I won't care about giving up wine most days, and just have the odd glass with DH

@adirat Happy to share recipes - I'll post a couple in the Recipe thread (how convenient that it just started) today, and will tag you :)
