October 2015 Moms

Nana is driving me crazy.

So before I get started w/ my rant let me start w/ saying that I love my mom and other than the issue I am about to mention she does a great job watching my little. However, every time my mother watches my daughter she has some horrible illness to report to me when I or hubby gets home. My daughter currently has the sniffles and a little cough. Yesterday when I get home my mother tells me how she isn't drinking is acting tired and had very little urine output. The second my mom leaves LO is asking for a bottle playing acting perfectly fine. At 5 in the morning, 5 IN THE F*CKING MORNING! I get this message from my mom "I was up most night praying for LO. The whole time I watched her she only drank maybe a half a cup of water. No bottle. Barely a damp diaper. Are you getting a lot of fluids in her? That was VERY unusual for her. Poop was thick too. Plus she wanted to sleep a lot. Signs of dehydration." SERIOUSLY WTF. This is a lie. I should also mention I am an ER nurse so I'm pretty sure I know the difference between a cold and dehydration. Literally every time she watches my baby she is making up an illness telling me she is dehydrated or has an ear infection or felt hot and my baby is perfectly fine. I am just more than annoyed. As mothers we have enough to worry about without trying to mess w/ my mind and make me believe my daughter is ill when she is not. Any advice ladies?

  • Sorry, no advice. That would sure be frustrating!

  • My only advice is to be strong in what you say to her. Like "mom I know you worry but this is just a cold and not stress worthy" or something like that. My mom stresses over every little thing and any runny nose/cough she wants me to make a dr run. I've had to be firm in my voice that I will take them to the doctor if it is worthy of that but until then not to freak out
