Hi Tuesday girls!! I feel like it's been a quiet week over here!
How far along are you? 13weeks! (Home stretch of first tri!!)
How big is baby? A scoop of icecream.
Appointments this week? Yesterday! Went really well
symptoms? So. Tired.
Rants/raves/questions? I know you guys are probably tired of me talking about it on all the threads, but these fires near us are getting crazy! It's kind of scary! The smoke has been really bad as well, and now younger daughter has started coughing, so hopefully her cough won't get worse .
GTKY-thanksgiving plans? We are traveling to BIL's house for thanksgiving this year, which means it will be the first time in I think 7 years that I haven't had to cook. I'm kind of excited! We are also planning to tell DH's family about baby on thanksgiving!
Symptoms: back aches and still no energy rants/raves/questions: none that I can think of! GTKY Thanksgiving plans: Going to the in laws! it'll be a full house, but I'm looking forward to it!!
Appointments this week? Had one today and it was so great to hear the heartbeat! I was so anxious!
Symptoms? Still have dry heaving and exhaustion, but it's getting less and less frequent. I see an end in sight!
Rant/Rave/Questions? I had to get more blood work today and the last time was my worst experience with a blood draw ever. Today I was lucky enough to get Ms. Sucky McSucks-at-her-job again and now I have a big ol' bruise from her wiggling the needle around in my arm. Time to find a different lab!
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We are going to try to split the holiday between my husbands full extended family at his Aunt's house and my local extended family at my Grandparents' house again this year. Unfortunately they both usually have dinner at the same time and we disappoint both groups with our limited visit. Both of us would rather just go to my Grandparents'.
How big is baby? Lemon (I feel like we shrank from a Peach last week haha)
Appointments this week? None this week
Symptoms? Heartburn is MAJOR and I cannot kick a runny nose
Rant/Rave/Questions? Any current mamas (or even if you're not) have a space heater they feel comfortable leaving on all night? I hate to turn the heat up so high because we'll probably go hungry when we have to pay the bill, but DS's room is so chilly at night.
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We will be with my family on Thursday for the annual skeet shoot and dinner. We will eat with his parents on Friday.
ETA: @Squirtgun - Where do you live? @Louise_Belcher I am TERRIBLE with blood draws! It's probably the worst part of pregnancy for me.
Appointments this week? not this week- not until Dec 1
Symptoms? I'm finally feeling great! I went to the gym and had a kick a$$ workout! 2nd tri is the best!
Rant/Rave/Questions?
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? Heading to my MIL's where both my family and DH's family all get together. It's fun but annoying LOL. Half of the family doesn't know my pregnant so it'll be my big reveal
How far along are you? 15 weeks! It felt like the weeks were crawling from 9-12, but the past 3 seem to have flown by.
How big is baby? A cinnamon roll! Which just really makes me want a cinnamon roll...
Appointments this week? Monthly check in with my NP on Thursday. They are usually uneventful, but always make me a little nervous for some reason. I'm hoping we at least get to see the little lady on an ultrasound (common with almost all visits at my practice, but sometimes if they are in a rush it gets skipped).
Symptoms? Still feeling a little tired, but I think that's largely because of chasing around my toddler. Aside from that, I'm pretty sure I've started feeling the babe fluttering around. It could be gas, but it's always on one side and feels distinctly like what I felt with my son.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I feel like the same questions have been plaguing me for weeks...WHY CAN'T I FIND MATERNITY PANTS THAT I LIKE? And why is it so hard to name a baby? Nothing I'm looking for an answer on...just figure if I ask enough times the questions will answer themselves. :-)
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We are staying here and my MIL and FIL are coming to visit us. We are "cooking" in that we are making a turkey, but we are getting the rest of the dinner (sides, etc) from a local restaurant and the pies from a local bakery. I love Thanksgiving, but I like enjoying the day and I really hate spending more than 30 minutes cooking. We've done some version of this the past 4 Thanksgivings and it's been LOVELY.
Squirtgun --that sounds really scary. Fires are so dangerous and nothing to take lightly. Keep us posted.
Louise_Belcher--they always struggle with my veins, too, and it's so frustrating. I'm on blood thinners now (and getting blood work done fairly often), and the blood thinners cause extra bruising...it's awful. Hopefully you find a better clinic for future draws!!
emilyalso --maybe try warmer PJs or multiple layers of PJs? My son's room is always a little chilly, but he's layered up so he doesn't seem to mind. Hopefully it won't be a super cold winter...
Rant/Rave/Questions? Anyone else getting their NT scan around 20 weeks???
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We will be having Thanksgiving at our house. We usually have it at my mom's but my step-dad had open heart surgery in July and didn't want to host this year. Perfect time to start our own family tradition.
@Squirtgun where are you located? Fires are terrifying!
@emilyalso Space heaters tend to scare me, but I understand feeling bad that a little one is cold. We bundle him up and have moved on to using blankets now. I also tend to turn up the heat a bit at night. The bedrooms in our house are chilly, but the living spaces are warmer. Also, I too hate blood draws, but have never previously had a problem with someone being able to do it without maiming my arm. I feel a bit mentally scarred now!
@lildropofheavn23 Now I want steak!! Also you have me looking forward to feeling good again very soon!
@Kipperoo Your thanksgiving sounds relaxing and wonderful! I envy you! You totally sound like you are doing it right! That sucks that they struggle with your veins and you have to go so frequently. I have low platelets, so they monitor and make me get blood draws often especially at the end, but I have never previously had issues with someone taking my blood. I wish there was some kind of rate my phlebotomist website, so I could find a good one! Ha! Good luck with the baby name! I feel you. If this ends up being a girl I am screwed in the name department.
Appointments this week? None, next Tuesday for check up.
Symptoms? Heartburn, lower abdomen pressure, moody and seems like hunger is picking up.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Just can't wait till my appointment next week to hear the heartbeat know everything is still going well. I am always so nervous leading up to appointments.
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? Hosting Thanksgiving for the second time this year! Last year went great and no problems so FX that happens again! It is my favorite holiday so once we had a house I insisted on hosting it!

@squirtgun yay for being in the 1st trimester home stretch! Sorry to hear about the fires! I hope they can be contained soon! @louise_belcher ugh sorry about the lab bruising you arm! I understand how much it sucks, I have hard to find and deep veins so blood draws for me are usually a nightmare! @kipperoo funny you mention flutters! This is my first pregnancy in the 2nd trimester and I have felt 2 times a tickling/bubbling feeling in the same spot on my lower abdomen. Now since I am a first timer I have no idea what baby feels like this early but I am hoping it is baby moving! @mrsrep123 I will be getting an Anatomy Scan around 20 weeks. I believe the NT scan has to be done around 11-13 weeks, I had mine done at 12.
Married: June 2011 TTC #1: September 2015-January 2016 BFP #1: 1/25/16 - MMC Diagnosed 3/22/16 TTCAL: June 2016 BFP #2: 8/26/16 - EDD 5/9/17 Jackson born 5/6/17 at 8:36 PM - 9lbs 5oz & 21in
@Squirtgun That is so scary! I had put myself under a rock to hid from politics, so I completely missed that this was happening. I googled it and now am reading up. Hope the air quality gets better where you are soon!
@mrsrep123Anatomy scan is at about 20 weeks. They do not do an NT scan as part of my care. Last time I got scans at 8 weeks (dating), 20 weeks (anatomy), and 32 weeks (growth).
How big is baby? TB tells me a lemon, but I like a scoop of ice cream much better! (Thanks, @Squirtgun!) Appointments this week? NT scan last week (all looks good!), next appointment on 11/29
Symptoms? Finally feel like I'm liking food again (exception evil onions! ). I'm totally exhausted, but it could be jet lag still since I'm in London for the week. Today I started having terrible, stabbing lower back pains (doesn't hurt/ache except when it's stabbing, but it's very alarming and almost debilitating when it is). I'm on the least comfortable bed EVER at my Airbnb, so it could be that...but it's no fun and sort of scary. Anyone else dealing with this type of pain?
Rant/Rave/Questions? This damn bed! But London is lit up so beautifully for the holidays. And I have to rave about them marking "look left" or "look right" on nearly every street (given the other-side-of-the-road thing)...it's saved me from getting hit by about 15 buses so far! GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? Finally going home (about 8.5 hours away) for the first time since the summer. We'll do morning/afternoon with H's family, evening with mine, and then both of our families will get together for a party on Saturday. We haven't told our parents or other family members yet because we wanted to tell them in person, so this will be the big reveal! (This has been especially tricky for H since his dad has been visiting him while I'm traveling this week and he's had to be careful about not saying anything...but he's a good secret-keeper.) Hopefully the bump doesn't grow so much in the next week that it's obvious as soon as they see me...I'll have to do some careful outfit-picking before we leave!
@Kipperoo I feel ya on the naming thing. We've had a girl's name picked out forever (and the u/s tech thinks it's a girl...nub is pretty clear!), but if it does turn out to be a boy, I feel lost. And I haven't felt any movement--I'm a bit behind you--but every time I listen to the heartbeat, I swear I can hear it moving around in there...it almost bursts my ear drums!
@Squirtgun Yikes, stay safe! I live in NC but it looks like my area has been calm. Scary stuff.
@Louise_Belcher Your blood draw experience sounds terrible Hope you find a better place soon!
I missed the last check-in because last week was crazy. Here's hoping this week is a little calmer.
How far along are you? 16 Weeks
How big is baby? Avocado
Appointments this week? None this week, but I had one last Thursday. We heard the heartbeat, although it took my OB a minute to find it (entered a mild panic mode in the mean time). I have my anatomy ultrasound scheduled for 12/02 - eager to see how s/he's growing!
Symptoms? Most of my symptoms (primarily fatigue, nausea) have almost disappeared although I'm getting headaches and RLP quite often.
Rant/Rave/Questions? DH and I flew to Boston this weekend to visit my best friend who just moved out there for grad school. I was concerned about being able to keep up and enjoy the trip without being too tired, but I felt pretty good throughout the weekend. Grateful for that!
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? My family lives a couple states away so we typically go over to my grandmother-in-law's house for Thanksgiving lunch. Many of DH's family lives on the same farm, where we're building a house, so everyone chips in and brings a few dishes to share.
@squirtgun We're near Nashville so we haven't experienced many effects of the fires quite yet, although I expect that will change. I'm sorry that you guys are dealing with this so close home. I hope you all stay safe!
Appointments this week? Had one yesterday. Got to see baby again which is always nice and reassuring.
Symptoms? Still have ms even with the pills. Hoping it goes away soon. Food aversions.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Feel like I'm starving eat 3 bites and then I'm stuffed. Have been bringing lots of leftovers for my fur babies lately.
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? No plans. Staying home. DH works at a hospital so he is on-call Thursday and all weekend. Gilmore girls comes out Friday so I already have my scheduled cleared to binge that. I normally cook for us two but we did a big feast in September for DH family and I don't eat much right now or want to clean up so decided not to which for us isn't a big deal.
I'm a bit behind and this is my first time posting in this check in. Not sure how I've missed this every week!
How far along are you? 13 weeks
How big is baby? Lemon
Appointments this week? None until the 28th.
Symptoms? I feel less sick and more energetic at times but also still tired. I almost fell asleep reading my son books yesterday afternoon.
Rant/Rave/Questions? So...I guess my "bump" has been entirely bloat/fat because it's gone today. Even DH thought it was weird. I know it's early to have an actual bump but it is my second pregnancy so I thought it was at least partially legit. Anyone else experience this?
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We're going to DH's family on Thursday lunch and then having Thanksgiving with my mom at home on Saturday. I make almost everything and I love it. I make my great grandmother's dressing, the mac and cheese the way I like it and I have a great turkey recipe. I have all these leftover recipes I like to do with the leftover turkey. It's just the best. I love this holiday!
@Squirtgun how is the air quality for you now? I'm in the Upstate, SC area and the smoke has been really bad here too. We've been cooped up inside and my son is getting stir crazy. I'm hoping they get all this under control! Some of my favorite places in NC have had extensive damage. Not to mention all the people who have been displaced. It's so sad.
L1C4gal , we are in the opposite situation, name wise. Had this been a boy, we had plenty of options! It's a girl, and this seems much harder. Maybe because we've already named one boy (DS)? Who knows...I'm sure it will just come to me...at least, I'm hoping so!
Thanks for your concern, everyone. The fires still aren't close enough to my house for us to have to worry about having to go elsewhere, but depending which way the wind shifts it may spread to an area where a lot of my friends live. @champhe the air quality here keeps going between orange and red. Today it's not so bad- just smells like a campground outside. It really depends which way the wind is blowing! We are going stir crazy inside as well, though!
I'm 13w1d and size of a lemon. Still feel nausea throughout the day. Had the NT screening Monday. the baby was not in a good position for the doctor to see the back of the neck, so just waiting on blood test results. for thanksgiving, I'm going to my sister's house because I'm not in the mood to plan anything right now.
Appointments this week? None until the first week of December
Symptoms? None, surprisingly
Rant/Rave/Questions? Yes, the 2nd tri is the best, but I hate this in between phase where you have no idea what's going on with the baby aside from going to the doctor or using a fetal doppler. I can't wait until I start feeling flutters/kicks.
GTKY: What are you plans for Thanksgiving next week? Are you cooking or going somewhere? We are going to the in-laws. We are moving Thanksgiving weekend, so I am stressed!!!
