Re: PGAL Check-in Week of 11/14

  • How far along are you?  8w5d

How are you doing? I'm a nervous wreck. Had spotting this weekend, found heartbeat on Doppler so I was reassured. However the sporting picked up a bit more and has started to turnover red than brown.

When is your next appointment?   Ultrasound in an hour to check on baby and investigate the source of spotting. I'm so damn nervous.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Raves for husband for covering the cooking/cleaning/care of our two kiddos while I sleep and feel like crap all day!

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!

I'm Canadian, so our thanksgiving was last month. But my favorite traditions are cooking with family, spending hours visiting and relaxing!
Im just obsessed with stuffing, potatoes and gravy. Just so darn good.

    8w5d

    How are you doing?
Physically, still having minimal symptoms so that's nice. Most days I feel quite normal. Mentally, today is my first appointment, which I posted about in the 11/7 check-in this morning, so I'm a nervous nelly right now.

    When is your next appointment?
    1:30 EST!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Just positive vibes for me that I am not posting a goodbye later. (I know that is soooo negative but I am having a hard time being positive today!!)

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!
I host every year and I love it, so that is my fave tradition. Also, my husband buys a bunch of newspapers and we all sit around after dinner and go through the black Friday ads together. I don't even always shop on black Friday but I have fun doing that with everyone anyway.

  • @halfthetree @JAGinMI good luck with your appointments!

    How far along are you?
    9 weeks 6 days

    How are you doing?
Doing okay. Getting the doppler helped, but I'm still nervous. I'm hoping I'll feel more confident once I get the NIPT done and have the results, but honestly I'm sure I'll find something else to worry about .

    When is your next appointment?
November 28th. Not exactly sure what is going to happen at this appointment, but I do know I'll have the blood draw for NIPT.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Just loving that the holidays are upon us!

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!
We don't have family nearby so we rotate holidays, and this year Thanksgiving is with DH's side.  Very normal Thanksgiving dinners on both sides of the family.
  • @halfthetree Thinking of you and hoping for the best.

@JAGinMI Wishing you the best at your first appointment.

@MKRLTX I feel for you on everything! I just need my NT scan to be here already and I'll feel like I've made it over the first trimester hump.

How far along are you? 9 weeks, 2 days

How are you doing? Emotionally - Some days I'm still a nervous wreck and others I have enough distractions to keep my emotions at bay. Physically - My symptoms haven't been as bad this time around as I did with my first pregnancy earlier this year. I have a little nausea on weekday mornings but feel better waking up later on weekends, aches/cramps but nothing severe, fatigue (this is the one that is kicking my butt) and my appetite has not been as big as it used to.

When is your next appointment? 11/30 is my next appointment with my doctor. 12/5 is my NT scan.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I've had a few very bad days the past two weeks despite having a good viability ultrasound. My first due date is less than a month away and it brings back so many bad memories. It doesn't help that my next appointment is over two weeks away still. I don't have any alarming symptoms like bleeding or severe cramps so I keep trying to remind myself that I am still pregnant today and that is all that matters right now.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share! My family does a turkey run the morning of Thanksgiving. I will probably be walking since I haven't felt up to working out the past month but it will still feel good to do something active before all of the eating. I don't really have any tried and true recipes because I don't do a lot of the Thanksgiving cooking. We usually are assigned one dish to bring and we usually change it up. I would love to hear other people's recipes!

  • Oh my goodness, @halfthetree, congrats!!!! Were they able to identify the source of the bleeding?

@JAGinMI I hope your appointment is fantastic!

How far along are you?  8w1d

How are you doing? Not great. I'm just so tired. I've been sick with bronchitis the last 3 weeks, my son's due date was Saturday and I started spotting last night. The worry just gets overwhelming sometimes. I'm trying to stay optimistic but I'm pretty much in a state of fear that doesn't seem to let up. I just so badly want to believe I'll make it to the NIPT this time and get good results but I'm struggling. Sorry for being such a downer.

When is your next appointment?   Ultrasound and normal first tri appointment tomorrow afternoon. LO's hr was 157 last week at 7w4d which seemed awful high to me. Curious to see what happens tomorrow.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My dh has been a saint since I've been sick and having a hard time. He's been such a rock this year.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!

Mine is to run the local turkey trot 5k then come home and watch the Macy's parade. Going to see the parade in person is a bucket list item of mine.

  • @halfthetree Whoa. That's a serious plot twist!

    @thatlauragirl  Hope the spotting lessens.

How far along are you? 8w4d

How are you doing? Oh, the exhaustion and nausea (and vomiting....). Otherwise, doing ok.

When is your next appointment? 12/2 for my NT scan and meeting with a genetic counselor (and bloodwork for NIPT - I'm AMA). I also now know I have a small SCH, so any spotting/bleeding will also send me straight to the doctor.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: DD is back to her usual cheerful self after a few weeks of toddler insanity. Let's hope it stays that way, or DH and I will lose our minds.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share! We try to fit as many marshmallows as possible on top of our sweet potatoes without them exploding over the sides of the dish. I haven't had much of a sweet tooth lately, so hoping that I'll develop one in the next week!

  • How far along are you? 11w6d - they updated my due date today to 5/30 but I will be sticking around this board if you ladies don't mind.

How are you doing? Not bad. Still hit with massive exhaustion and queasiness comes and goes. My doc suggest more B6 to help with mild queasiness so I will try that.

When is your next appointment?   Just had my NT scan today! Baby looked great and was doing the worm in there! Moving around and everything- it was so unreal to see. Last time my MMC was diagnosed at this can, and it was just really unbelievable that everything went perfectly. Even thought I am low risk after this scan for genetic defects, I had a draw for Maternit21 as well just to be super cautious. It will help relieve any remaining anxiety. But ladies it finally feels like it's going to happen!! Eek!!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Above was kinda my rant...I posted my US pic from today in the US thread as well.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share! We like making a duck in addition to a turkey. I find turkey dry a lot of the time...but duck is delicious!

  • First time posting in the June '17 PGAL check in? Introduce yourself. I'm Elizabeth, just turned 27 last Saturday. My husband is turning 26 this Saturday. I had a little girl from a previous relationship I was in for 5 years. I was 28 weeks pregnant and had an placental abruption. I had to have an emergency C-section. Needless to say I'm terrified and ready to fast forward the next 8 months and get this part over with.

    How far along are you?
8 weeks. Will be 9 weeks on Thursday.

How are you doing? I'm a nervous wreck. I have nightmares every single night that they can't find a heartbeat. My last appointment they said everything was perfect... but they said that last time too until all the sudden I needed a emergency c-section.

When is your next appointment?   December 9th @8:30am

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:Rant:  I work with family (in-laws) and they drive me absolutely crazy.
Rave: I have the most supportive amazing husband. I couldn't ask for better.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!
Nothing honestly since we've been married we've been on post every Thanksgiving. Our normal tradition is a pot luck with all of my husbands single battle buddies who couldn't afford to go home for Thanksgiving. We smoke the turkey and I make a pretty awesome buffalo chicken dip if I do say so myself lol. This year my husband got a medical discharge, and is out of the military so it's strange being home with family this year. I don't know what we're gonna do.

@halfthetree  Wow twins! That is so exciting! Can't imagine going in for spotting and getting that news! Congrats! Can't wait to hear how you break the news.

Hi everyone! First time posting (long time lurker). So happy to have this board: I had a missed miscarriage back in June, which I found out about around 10.5 weeks, when I went in for my first OB appointment. This time around I had an early scan at 7 weeks, and everything looked great, but can't help but be nervous.

    How far along are you?
     10w5d

How are you doing? Meh.. not so good today. Mentally I've generally been ok, alternating between hopeful and nervous but today I had some light pink spotting. I called the nurse at my OB/GYN, who wasn't concerned and said I didn't need to come in before my next appointment. Google tells me these things can be normal, but is just seemed like it came out of nowhere.

When is your next appointment? Next Wednesday, 11/23. I'll be 12 weeks, so if all goes well I feel like it will be a huge relief. But I feel like my anxiety is going to really ramp up between now and then.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: If the appointment next week goes well, we were planning on announcing the pregnancy when we go to my in laws the next day for Thanksgiving. Now I'm worried that it won't go well-- I feel like this was poor planning. I can't even imagine being around the whole extended family if I'm going through a miscarriage.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share! DH and I usually go surfing before heading over to wherever we are having dinner. I won't be doing that this year, but I do enjoy being active before stuffing my face with delicious food, so hopefully I can at least get a walk in.  I am also looking forward to wearing the maternity leggings I ordered especially for Thanksgiving, even though I (mostly) still fit into my normal clothes.

  • @halfthetree  wow! That's a crazy surprise! I really want to hear about your husband's reaction.

    @srnj3
my due date was in September right before I got pregnant and it was rough. I was pretty upset because I thought I would be pregnant by then, and I kept picking fights with my husband. Good luck to you.

    How far along are you?

    10 weeks today

    How are you doing?
I'm actually getting more anxious the farther along I get. Like before, at 7ish weeks, I was like "everything is probably fine", and now I just keep waiting for something to go wrong.

    When is your next appointment?
Thursday. I'm there to get blood drawn for the NT test, but the appointment is with a doctor, so bloated I'm really hoping they can check for a heartbeat.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
My husband really wanted to tell my 4 year old, so we did. But I'm going to really regret that if something goes wrong. One of the worst parts about the miscarriage is that my son kept asking me about it. I'm trying to latch on to my husband's positivity at this point, which is probably more logical. We are two weeks past where we thought we were when I had the MC and 3 weeks past where the baby was measuring. And we had a good ultrasound at 8 weeks and i haven't had any bleeding. All signs point to a positive outcome, but I'm having trouble getting and staying positive.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!
All the food! Yum! I make artichoke and brie stuffing, it's a recipe from Emeril on the food Network. Yum.
  • @mrt brings up an interesting topic. When will all of you tell your kids?

Now that we have had a successful ultrasound, we are deciding when to tell the kids. I'm so nervous about it but I think we will tell them soon now.

I decided to just go for the ultrasound picture in a frame, and wait to see how long it took him! He looked at it, for quite a while, then looked at me and said "TWO BABIES"!! I said yes dear, two! He looked down, shook his head and said "I knew it. I knew it. Oh man" and started laughing❤️

We laughed for a good half an hour at our situation, how of course our last baby is twins. He actually guessed it was twins when I was about 4 weeks and feeling horribly nauseous all day.

typically we go to my sisters house for Thanksgiving, but last year literally everything that went wrong could- so this year I'm hosting.. so we are breaking tradition. And I'm being forced to go Black Friday shopping with her. I usually make a sweet potato casserole- but I don't follow any recipes and just wing it, trying it as I go lol

DH and I agreed that we weren't going to tell my SS until we had a successful ultrasound, and were closer to the 2nd trimester. Also- he's 9 so he has a big mouth and I didn't want to tell him before we told our parents. Sooo- he and the rest of the family will find out on Thanksgiving at about 11 weeks

MS is a doozy. DH got sick last night, and even though he completely cleaned up the mess, and put the dirty stuff in the washer, I gagged pretty hard starting the wash cycle. It was just the thought that made me gag.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share!
My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is spending time with family, which I haven't been able to do in the last 10 years, since I moved across the States. This year, however, my parents are coming to spend Thanksgiving day with us! They are staying for a few weeks, and we will get to have an early Christmas with them before they leave. I'm sooo excited!

My family also likes to go crazy with pie making. One year we made 14 pies and only had 25 people over for dinner. Pumpkin pie for breakfast? Yes, please!

I also love leftover sandwiches. We take a croissant roll, cream cheese, and whatever Thanksgiving leftovers you like to make a sandwich. I highly recommend cranberry sauce, Turkey, and stuffing. It's awesome!

  • I was trying to not be a spaz and hold out until my official appointment next week, but after spotting and cramping I broke down and convinced my Ob/gyn to see me. I work across the street from the clinic so it's super easy for me to drop in (also I maaaay have over emphasized some UTI symptoms to get myself in). Ultrasound went great and I got to see the little human dancing around!

So happy to have some peace of mind. Hopefully I can actually get some work done now, instead of letting my pgal brain get the best of me.

  • My phone doesn't like the copy and paste for some reason, but I am 11w3d and go between being excited finally and still super anxious.  I have my NT scan next week and that's where we found out about the miscarriage last time around so the closer it gets the more I begin to worry.  Once that is behind us and all (hopefully) looks good I think we will go ahead and make it public to the world.

How far along are you? 9w2d

How are you doing? This past week I've had more good days of having less food aversions. My worst symptom now is light cramping. No spotting, so I'm not letting it get to me too much. Most days I'm believing this is real, but I've had a couple recently where my mind goes into the doubting world, just wanting to hear the heartbeat. No doppler for me though.

When is your next appointment?   Not til the 30th.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Today I passed a national exam for financial planning. While I've never been in the industry, this opens so many doors for a future career. I'm nervous for my next steps. This was a huge deal.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, please share! I have such great memories of watching movies with my cousins with full stomachs waiting for dessert. Grease tends to be on frequently around Thanksgiving. I don't have any adult traditions yet worth sharing.

PS. Welcome to the newcomers on this board. This is one of the more active places for support and I'm glad you found us!
