Re: Moms with Toddlers - 11.14.16
Are you putting any traditions into place for your toddler for Thanksgiving? Christmas? We are starting an advent calendar this year for the first time with him. Also, my DS has not ever had any screen time but we will probably watch the Rudolph movie once or twice. Also maybe Frosty and the Grinch, but the animated ones not the full length ones.
Rants/Raves/Questions: So ready to meet little DD - anyone else feeling anxious about losing 1:1 with your current toddler. I know it's been mentioned before but man I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it right now.
Anything you want to add/share?: Nope
Bonus question: What is your favorite comfort food? Hmm, lasagna probably or a nice soup with biscuits or good bread.
Are you putting any traditions into place for your toddler for Thanksgiving? Christmas? Not for Thanksgiving, but for xmas we'll probably bust out the cookie cutters and have him decorate cookies. He can probably help us repeatedly put on and take off ornaments from the tree?
Rants/Raves/Questions: Trying super hard to get DS to say the name of things he wants (within reason), like water, pancake, banana, etc, instead of screaming at us and whining. Its going marginally well but he is 16 months old-is this unreasonable? What about please?

Bonus question: What is your favorite comfort food? Just food in general is a comfort. But pasta and meatballs, chinese takeout, pizza. OH GOD I am hungry right now I am going to go eat crispix.
Bad. DH and I had a fight in front of him. Tears, yelling, it was bad. It clearly stressed him out. I feel awful about it. At the time I thought "this isn't right. take a time out" but didn't make it happen.

Kind of... MIL knitted him a stocking and we're gonna start an annual family pic on Christmas and I'm going to turn it into an ever-growing decoration. We're also going to start a tradition of a family ornament each year - getting our first one this friday
I'm sure there'll be more to come - cookie baking and decorating. I love traditions. I think they're really binding and warm
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rant: DH and I just had the first civil discussion after the fight. We're both really stressed. I feel like he's been checked out at home - just checking boxes. Like he hasn't even given a thought to the coming baby girl. He agreed. He's taking 4 classes, teaching 3, has DS on Fridays mostly (though I take him often too). We didn't have anything to propose for moving forward. Which is a hard place to leave things... Trump (or more specifically, the dogs he is unleashing on us) has us VERY stressed out. Without being too specific, it affects my job and it's affecting it much more drastically and immediately than I had the foresight to think about. It's been hard. The cabinet/adviser choices are presenting a new thing for us to grieve about every day too.
Rave: We're getting solar panels for the house. I'm so excited about this. Plus, they make 100% economic sense. I am just really excited that this technology has totally arrived.

i don't have one specific go-to. But a warming, hearty soup is wonderful. I just made venison stew and it's so so good.
Not so good, I've really started relying on family to help out. They know it's been rough and they're happy to take over when I need them to! Plus he has been catching a major attitude lately, this is going to be a really rough transition for him I think.

Not this year because he still doesn't understand but I might try next year.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Does anyone have advice for juggling a toddler and a newborn? Are there any recommendations for the transition?
Anything you want to add/share?:
I can't wait to shrink back down so that I can comfortably crawl into DS's bed and snuggle with him.
Bonus question: What is your favorite comfort food?
Mint chocolate chip ice cream. I can eat it by the gallon. Or cotton candy.
