  • @FLAshley I'm still in shock that you're not in Florida!

@adirat So, since there seems to be a lot of Packer fans here, does that mean there are no Vikings fans? I'm not a fan of either team (go niners!) But, I do live in MN and enjoy watching the quarrels between the two fans

If you don't temp, but use OPKs, do you move over after you get the first positive OPK?

edit: GET not EAT the OPK... stupid phone!

  • @Starla Are you checking other fertility signs (like CM and CP) and still tracking it all using FF? If so, I believe they will still give you dotted CHs which is when you would move over to TWW

  • @Starla There are a few ladies who don't temp but do use OPKs and track CM, and I believe they use the same rules as FF like @lulu1180 suggested -- three days after CM dries up and OPKs are back to negative, you can assume you have ovulated.

FWIW, my CM is not at all predictive of O (I continue to get it after O for a day or two) so that wouldn't work for me, but it does seem to work for others.

@Bumpybump and @purplg8r Yay for CH! Don't you come back now!

  • @lulu1180 Yes I do all that. I just started contributing last cycle in TWW (but was lurking for a couple months) so I didn't move over between threads... except to WTO. :(. I'll use FF as the guide for when to move over!
FWIW, I have found CM to be a better indicator than either CP and OPKs. My CP is all over the place and I have only gotten a very faint line on the OPKs. Last cycle I had a faint line for 3 days and FF have me dotted CH on the third day.

  • @Starla Makes sense. Regarding OPKs -- I don't want to freak you out, but sometimes not turning a + OPK can be a signal of an issue. Are you TTC #1? Are you using Wondfos? If you haven't turned a "true" positive OPK in your two cycles of trying so far, if you want, it may be worth some experimentation with length of hold and frequency of testing this cycle to see if you can turn one. Happy to talk more or if it's too stressful I can also not bring it up again :)

  • @adirat Yes I'm TTC #1. :) Not Wondfos. I use some other random cheap OPKs. I just bought different ones so we'll see if I can turn those. It said to use first morning urine but some of the reviews said to use 2pm urine. I tried both but I drink a lot of water during the day so I was probably diluting it. My sister whose had kids said she was never able to turn the OPK a dark line either. I'm not concerned at this point. Any advice on time of day for testing?

  • @Starla If the package says FMU, then I'd go with that as a starting place. My understanding is that LH peaks mid-day so FMU seems odd to me (how much LH is there to track at that point?) but I'm only familiar with Wondfos. I know a lot of the women here who use Wondfos will try twice or even three times per day when they think they're close so they don't miss it.

I'm the same way -- I drink a lot of water and have to make a concerted effort to reduce intake and do a hold in order to get a positive. I usually get a positive in the late morning or midday. I ovulate the same day (according to temps) as my positive, and the day before that it's medium-dark but not a true positive.

  • Lurking from TWW...

@Sailing_Mama I used OPKs for the first time this cycle, too. I ended up testing in the morning before work (around 7a) and again when I got home (around 5:30-6p) just to see if I could catch it. The day I ended up turning the OPK was the day I actually got home late and tested around 7:30p. I know most of the advice I received was to try for morning, then again in late afternoon/early evening. From there, if you miss your surge, you can always add in an afternoon test (I didn't want to do this right away since I didn't want to have to deal with testing at work if I didn't have to).

@JulesDP I'm pretty new here but I completely agree with your rant today.
@norahbeansmom yay for finally feeling at home! We moved in August but we have been traveling a lot and still have unpacking and picture hanging to do.

  • @linzrunz Nice to see you back. I'm glad you are getting some answers. <3

  • @Sugargirl1019 Thank you! I'm sure that other ladies on here have dealt with much worse, and for longer than I have. I've only had AF once since coming of BCP in July, so I've been freaked out about whether or not ovulation is occurring. I like to think that by sharing my experience, I am maybe also helping someone else in a similar situation.

@spiderlover25 Oh wow!! I wish I had traveling as an excuse! We moved back in March and we have just been lazy. I'm finally at the point where I can't stand looking at the unfinished space anymore!

Packers! They look like absolute garbage, however.  :s

@adirat you should be glad that you can't watch the game today. I'm ready to start my day drinking a bit early!

  • @Sugargirl1019 That sucks about your work schedule. :(

@LadyMillil @adirat I don't think I can do mid-day. My office and even washrooms aren't very private. Plus I can't hold pee that long! I'll see how it goes with the different brand. I do twice a day near O so hopefully I catch the surge even if the line Ian t super dark.  If I don't get KTFU in the next cycle or two I will probably think about temping.

    @linzrunz Welcome back!

@norahbeansmom Sounds like a productive day. Yum the brunch sounds awesome. Now I'm hungry. LOL
