TGIF!!! Weekend plans??

What's shakin' this weekend, ladies??

Re: TGIF!!! Weekend plans??

  • Work on Saturday and Monday (boo!), but my church is throwing us a baby shower on Sunday! Since it's out last baby shower, I'm hoping that DH and I can go to Babies R Us on Monday evening to do our completion shopping. We still need a bassinet and a mattress for the baby's crib, and if we can get those, I can finally calm my irrational fears about our newborn baby sleeping in a cardboard box.
  • Loading the player...
  • We are meeting with a realtor on Saturday.  We don't have any other major plans.  I'm too tired to commit to much these days.
  • Walmart run tonight because DH wants the new Star Trek movie. Yay, I can FINALLY buy the Thank You cards I keep forgetting to buy. And more honey for my poor sore throat :( I'm on day 3 of self-treating since the sore throat is the only symptom.

DH works this weekend so just me and the pup. Saturday is laundry day at my parents. My mom and I are going to look into the possibility of getting my dryer fixed so I can do laundry at home after Squish arrives. Sunday I need to work on Squish's birth announcement. Seriously, I have 5 weeks left, plus a commission I promised to get done before Squish arrived. That one will only take 6-8 hours, so no big deal. I just need to print the pattern out and my printer is out of ink. And one day this weekend I'm taking DH to MinuteClinic so he can get his Tdap shot! Talking to the pediatrician yesterday convinced him he needed to do it :)

  • I had 5 vacation days (use it or lose it) so I took off every day I have appointments for the rest of the way - hopefully he's not late!  Today was the first day off so after my appointment I went to a kids consignment sale.  It was ok, but no big ticket items I needed.

We have friends coming over for dinner tonight.  No real plans for the rest of the weekend.

  • Saturday DH made plans to go to a hockey game with a coworker so I'm having girls afternoon/night at the house.  Plans include a Hobbit marathon and then out for dinner!  Sunday, we are going out to breakfast with DH's parents and sister to celebrate my birthday - woot woot.  I'm guessing my parents will probably want to do something for my birthday this weekend too since my mom is out of town next week (birthday on Wednesday) but knowing them, she will ask me an hour before they want to do something.... ughh.

  • My mom is coming to babysit tomorrow morning, so I'm going to attempt the gym. We'll see how that goes.

Sunday DH and I are telling ourselves that we're going to start fixing the nursery. This is like the 5th day we've committed to it though, and it's still in disarray. Hopefully progress is made...

  • Saturday we have our labor class which will take all day. I'm hoping it's informative or I'll be crabby that the day is wasted.

Sunday my sister in law is throwing a small shower for me. It's at my house though so I'll have to clean up Saturday night. After the shower, we may go out and do the big shopping trip to get the rest of the stuff.
  • We are going to see Dr. Strange tonight.  Trying to get in a few more movie date nights before we lose our freedom.  Lol.  The rest of the weekend I am going to desperately try to actually prepare for this baby.  Due date is in 4 weeks and I have zero nesting instincts and zero sense of urgency to make sure anything is done.  I thought I'd be a crazy person by this time but I'm more just like... whatevs.
  • Decluttering and organizing the house. Getting hospital bags ready. All the things we keep saying we're going to do but haven't yet. Baby has definitely dropped some and I have braxton hicks all the time, so we've gotta get ready!
  • It's my son's second birthday today so we're having a small party for him tomorrow. Tonight I'm making a 3D train cake for him. Sunday hopefully just relaxing. I didn't really want to do a party but my DH insisted so here we are.

  • @KatieJo1205 - I am seeing Dr. Strange tonight too! Some of my friends are going as true fans of the comic series. But I confess that I'm going so that I can see Benedict Cumberbatch on screen for 2 hours.

YESSS! I'm going with DH tomorrow morning, I can't wait!

Also returning/exchanging some stuff from the baby shower and planning for Black Friday shopping (online)
  • Chores. cleaning. keeping myself alive. Hopefully do something with dd1 besides watch mickey. not end up in the hospital again.

    We shall see.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • We're on week 4 where I work all week while DH watches DS and then DH works all weekend while I watch DS. It's finite but it's getting really hard.... I'm really missing having a day with DH and it's getting hard to work all week and have DS alone all weekend - wash, rinse, repeat

That being said, I'm hoping to have a nice dinner in with DH tonight. Then I'll spend all weekend having QT with DS and continuing to prep the house to sell. DH has done a great job this week, there are  a few things I'd rather sort through/prep myself and then hopefully we'll get the house on the market in the next week or so!

  • Tonight I'm getting a massage. My carpal tunnel has been terrible and massage seems to help, so I'm splurging.

Tomorrow afternoon is our shower! I'm kind of excited but nervous to be the center of attention.

Sunday we'll go to church, and then in the evening we have another meeting at church.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I'm putting up Christmas decorations this weekend and playing Christmas music!!! I think if I wait longer then they'll never be up because I'll lose motivation or have a newborn and just won't care. So excited!!!!!! Really taking advantage of the whole nesting energy surge. DH picked up a new release game so he'll be glued to his xbox the majority of the weekend when he's not helping me around the house. We MAY go see Dr. Strange but I'm in no hurry, we prefer to rent movies on Amazon prime vs. battling the movie lines.

  • Baby shower is on Sunday! I'm so excited!
  • God help me, We are officially taking the pups out adventuring tomorrow, all 7 canines that live with us. Our 'big' dogs could really use the time at the park, and the actual pups need to learn what the great outdoors looks like.

Otherwise, tomorrow is movie night with one of my BFFs + her cousin&SO + her kids. Its been like 10 weeks and I'm so excited.

Sunday will be church, answering enough people's questions that word spreads and I don't get 500 phone calls about where i have been/why Im back. Then just cleaning the house (H home alone=nasty mostly everywhere) and working on my knitting and crocheting.

  • I'm not sure what our plans are for the rest of the weekend. Apparently for tonight though, my DH's plans included cooking dinner, cleaning the kitchen, and then making us a pan of hot yummy brownies! Oh, how I love him!
  • I had today off (8 more days of work!) and ran a bunch of errands. My feet were so swollen this morning that by the time I got home, I was miserable - even with the comfier boots I was wearing. But, I got some stuff done so it was needed! However, when I got home, the garage door wouldn't open. I thought maybe the power went out so I went in the side service door. Nope, it was fine... the chain had broken. Yay! Nothing like hauling my groceries in farther than normal with feet hurting like no tomorrow!! Luckily my car was outside versus in. BUT, DH is gone until Tuesday hunting so that's great. I had my parents over to check it out, and my dad said we would need to get it fixed. So, it will have to wait. Just our luck.

Tomorrow - college alum (NDSU) football game. Afterwards, going for supper with my aunt and uncle who will be in town, as it's parent weekend for the marching band kids and my cousin is a freshman at my college alum. So, that will be fun to see them. I was iffy on going to the game and giving our 2 seats to them since DH is gone, but they got their own tickets and now I am going.

Sunday - Laundry, some cleaning and making a crock pot meal for myself for the week. I also plan on washing up some of the baby clothes and towels and get them put away.

  • It's baby shower weekend over here!  My mom and sister are hosting the one today and I'm super excited, since some of my college friends who live in other parts of the state are making the trip up for it.  Then tomorrow we have a coed shower hosted by some friends.  That one should be pretty relaxed and low-key.  I feel so lucky to have all these people wanting to celebrate with us, but it is going to be a busy weekend!
  • Today I got a lesson in what it's like to try and do stuff after the baby has dropped. I went to Ikea for a few things and did some cleaning and organizing. I'm definitely feeling the pelvic pressure - not fun! I had to have my stepson push the cart at Ikea at one point.

Dr. Google tells me that I'm now 2-4 weeks out if he's dropped, which seems reasonable - my due date is in 3.5 weeks. But man, the panic has started to set in. I wanted to get a lot more done today than I did and DH has to work all weekend. I'm hoping tomorrow we can find a dresser so I can go ahead and get all the clothes washed and put away.
  • We finished our kitchen Reno today! My feet feel like Sasquatch minus the hair lol and tomorrow it's groceries and cleaning/knocking things off my to do list

  • Spent the day at the beach today. In November. If the weather refuses to acknowledge it's fall, then so do I.
  • Yesterday we went looking for a chest of drawers for the bean, no luck. @gowenc I know what you mean about trying to do  a lot anything right now. It didn't even seem like it would be a big deal that we went to four different places because we didn't stay long. And yet. By the end my left knee (weaker one) was buckling, my pelvis was miserable, I was walking so slowly it was almost comical, and I ended up taking an involuntary nap on the couch when I got home. Tiredness overwhelmed me and I just sort of allowed myself to lay over to my side and I was out.

DH cleaned/organized the garage, the floors, the bathrooms, etc. yesterday while I was being useless. I swear he's nesting way more than me. I KNOW it's not my fault I'm pretty much a waste right now because I'm growing a baby, but it's hard not to get mad at myself.

I woke earlier than usual this morning thanks to DLST - mornings are typically the best time for me energy and discomfort wise - and decided that I would make us some quiche for brunch type food. DH was already up dealing with a work issue (he's on call every other weekend). He said he woke up with a bad headache so I put him back to bed. Now the quiche is cooking and I'm bumping.

I wanted to get back out today and do some window shopping/loafering about, but I'm keeping him in if he still has a headache when he gets up. I think something outside or the changing weather is bothering him. He isn't a baby with the man-flu type person at all, rather it's hard for me to get him to admit he's not feeling good regardless of his condition. He's been hacking coughing for over a week and keeps getting sinus headaches. I just want my hubby to feel better. :(

  • We went to a college football game yesterday and I'm dying today. Walking several miles + 100 stairs to and from our seats in the stadium = I'm doing nothing today.

Also as I was walking by a lady commented to her friend that I looked like I was about to have this baby right there in the stands. I commented that i might lol
  • ...and I'm pretty sure I just broke my toe (possibly toes) by simply walking out of the bedroom. I seem to not have any sense of my own body and caught my 4th and pinkie toes on the bed frame, hard. I definitely heard a snap or two and now the whole foot is swollen and really painful. I'm icing it for now - DH is out running errands - but I have a feeling I'm going to need to take a trip to urgent care later.

My foot hurts, but I'm more upset about the fact that I had a lot of things on my to do list today - laundry, cleaning out some drawers in the bedroom to make room for baby stuff, finishing packing hospital bags...and now I'm stuck on the couch. DH can finish the laundry when he gets home and can grab most of the stuff for the bags, but he's also on call this weekend so if clients submit any requests he has to tend to that. I'm also going to miss yoga, which my body really needs right now. Not what I needed today.

We assessed our Christmas decoration situation this weekend--- we didn't have much, but that's okay because it gave me an excuse to shop a little with DH!

Friday we went to an annual craft fair that's huge and has speciality items you don't see at any other time of year, so we got handmade Christmas soaps, candles, homemade hot chocolate, and other goodies. We took a lot of breaks but besides a little pelvic pain I felt good. The lady we bought our candles from was so sweet. She told me I just have a glow about me and I look so beautiful. I really needed to hear that from a stranger, especially at this stage of the pregnancy.

Saturday we ordered some personalized knit stockings for the whole family! We picked up some stocking holders, gift bows, etc. and a little Christmas outfit for Ashton. I'm glad we've been starting early because the stores are already crowded. I have to take a lot of rest breaks!

Today we're resting and putting our decorations up. We will put up the tree on our anniversary  ( December 1st) as tradition. I normally don't decorate the rest of the house until after Thanksgiving, but I don't think I'll be able to in December... and at this point I'm anticipating Ash any day if my BP doesn't calm its tits. Better safe than sorry!
  • @dmontgo I feel ya. Our Christmas decorations are probably going up in 2 weeks or so.

  • My family came in this weekend and we had our shower yesterday. Of course I had to deal with the HG and on top of that random family who haven't spoken to me the whole pregnancy saying, "Have you tried Gatorade/SeaBands/Unisom and B6/etc.?" Yes, we have tried literally everything, this is HG, it is absolutely not "just morning sickness," please let me vomit in peace at my own shower.

So today we are recovering from the shower and starting thank you notes. We didn't get many clothes but the ones we did get that are the newborn size thankfully have tags on them so we are going to size them up at the store today. Only because we have so many newborn and 0-3 month clothes that I can't see him wearing all of them.
  • Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we have the wall texture being removed  in the nursery to prep for the wall paper installation on Monday.  Otherwise, we have no other plans.
