How far along are you? 13 weeks!!!

How big is baby? Peapod

Appointments this week? Last week we did with our midwife, and we've also started Hypnobirthing classes.

Symptoms? After being incredibly sick over the weekend, my nausea has eased up. Boobs are more sore than ever, and I don't even have to touch them for them to start aching.

Rant/Rave/Questions? When do you consider the first trimester to be over? Some sites say 13 is the start of second, but other sites say 13 is the end of first.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new?
I'm asking this, because I've been offered baby clothes, a Pack N Play, toys, a swing, a wipe warmer, and several other things. I'm grateful for sure, but I want to pick some of that for myself. I already know what swing I want, and the Pack N Play I was offered is a little bigger than what I'm looking for. I think the wipe warmer I was offered will never get used and just take up space. I appreciate the offers, but I don't want to take things that I have no intention of using. My house isn't that big.

Appointments this week? I had genetic testing and an ultrasound

Symptoms? Tired and my boobs are so sore.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I don't think I have any this week.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new? I hadn't thought about that.

How big is baby? Size of a box of crayons, or navel orange

Symptoms? RLP but not as bad as last week, achy lower back & hips, oh and the vomiting came back.

It depends what the baby item is. We've received lots of used clothes and I just pick through what I want and donate the rest. I would buy/will buy a new breast pump that I know for sure. And for furniture it really depends where it came from. From friends and family that I know have clean, smoke free homes I will take almost anything.

Appointments this week? I had my 12 week appt on Monday. Everything looked good.

Symptoms? Nausea is subsiding. I had a bad headache this morning. RLP and gagging are still happening.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I thought I could wear my prepregnancy jeans one more time to casual Friday. Nope, I can't. I am rocking the rubber band trick today.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new?

My best friends and I have exchanged items like a boppy, swing, bumbo...throughout the years. I'm very happy to take those things. I have even taken a car seat from my best friend because I know 100% that it wasn't in an accident and isn't expired. For clothes, I go through them and donate the rest. I haven't been offered other things, but would take them if I knew where they came from and they were clean. I would not take a car seat from a stranger or even an acquaintance.

Symptoms? Headaches

Rant/Rave/Questions? I hate the way I look in most of my clothes, but I'd feel goofy wearing maternity to work.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new?

I don't turn my nose up to free stuff. I pick what I want and then pass along the rejects. I don't think I'd take a used car seat unless I was very familiar with the previous owner.

@M@MollyandD As far as Pack-n-Play, toys, and swing go, if you don't want for your home, do you have friends or family that you will frequently visit or will watch LO occasionally. It may be nice to have some of those items available at their homes to reduce what you have to pack.

I went to a "baby prep" class for my first and the instructor highly recommended NOT using a wipe warmer. She said they have been identified as the source of several home fires. Also, you can't take it with you, so baby will have to have cold wipes when he or she is changed on the go. And they take up space, which is a hot commodity.

Appointments this week? I had an appointment this past Wednesday for recheck ultrasound of SCH. Finally that thing is shrinking, but still there. Baby is looking great!

Symptoms? Sore boobs, still don't have 100% of energy back

I've never turned down free stuff. I go through what I want to keep and donate the rest. As PP said, I gave a lot of the hand-me-downs to my mom and in-laws with DS to have at their house. It was nice for them each to have a swing and pack-n-play to use without having to lug all that stuff back and forth.

@clebl24 I like what you said about having the extra things go to someone else's house.

I love free item s as much as the next person, so I'm not usually so picky. It's just that I know I'll turn around and donate some of the things I don't want, so I'd rather not take them in the first place. Things like clothes for baby, I could use and would gladly accept. The Pack N Play could go to my mom's house, since her grandbaby one is getting worn out. I don't want to take the swing, because it would be a loaner, until this friend has baby #2 someday. I know I want a different swing, and I wouldn't let a loaned item go to another house.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I was also wondering about the end of 1st trimester, but I think I am going to consider being in the 2nd trimester at the end of this week.

I will take all of the free stuff with some exceptions. I would like to get new a car seat, crib, and mattress. Other than that though I am pretty open to used things. I did like how someone mentioned having some stuff for relatives that may be babysitting as I had not thought of that.

Appointments this week? Nope, but I finally got a doctor! My first appointment is December 7th.

Symptoms? Just some RLP, exhaustion.

Rant/Rave/Questions? Nope.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new? I would turn down a car seat. That's about it. Baby items are expensive and used for such a short period of time. I would rather have a used baby item/borrowed baby item for a few months and have extra money for diapers! We don't need anything this time around, but I wouldn't turn anything down unless it was a duplicate of what I have.

How big is baby? Baby is pear/eclair (I love my french pastry option)/ orange sized.

Appointments this week? Just a phone call to get an RX, glad I didn't have to go in

Symptoms? Not really

Rant/Rave/Questions? In case you haven't seen me whining everywhere, I have a freaking yeast infection. It's been a rough week at work and this was just like...ugh. SO uncomfortable.

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new? Hmm, you mean used baby items? I'm open to it, but I'm also big into researching and picking my own stuff.

How far along are you? 12 weeks as of Friday, currently 12 weeks 3 days!

How big is baby? Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (of which I am eating an insane number- thanks Halloween)

Appointments this week? No baby related, but my DS has his 1 year check up!

Symptoms? Hungry all of the time, no longer nauseous...but I caught DH's awful cold

Rant/Rave/Questions? Our NT scan is 11/21, and I'm not sure what to expect, as we didn't have one with DS (we did the Panorama instead). Is there blood work associated with the NT scan? I've seen conflicting information, and my appointment is with the hospital instead of my doctor, so calling just to satisfy my curiosity is a pain

GTKY? How do you/would you feel about people offering to give you baby items? Are there any items you would turn down so you could buy new?
Overall, I'm grateful for anything people are willing to share. Some things do get re-donated or turned down...particularly from my MIL. She volunteers at a homeless shelter, and often receives donations of baby/kid stuff- which she has started giving to me! I turn around and give all of that back, because it's in poor taste. People are donating that for people who truly need it, not so 2 middle class yuppies can get free baby swag. Otherwise, just the usual- car seat, crib, anything that can't be sanitized to my liking, I prefer to get new.
