  • Good luck to those doing the glucose test this week!

I have a regular 4 week check up with the OB this Friday. We're going to sign the papers for the c-section and possibly schedule a date for it! It's about to start feeling very real.

  • We have our hospital tour tomorrow! I'm probably more excited for it than I should be but I think it will answer a lot of my questions and a lot of the unknowns since I'm a FTM and know like zero things
  • I have my neuromuscular appointment on Wednesday and then an US/ follow up appointment on Thursday!  Yea we get to see baby again and see just how big she is!
  • None for me until next week, but good luck to you ladies :)
  • Is it weird I won't be getting my glucose test done until my next appointment which is almost a month from now? At that point I'll be 27 (almost 28) weeks. I feel like I'm way behind schedule compared to everyone here!

I don't remember the range in which you're supposed to have it, but I'll be 25+2 when I have mine, I'm also AMA.

24-28 weeks is normal unless your urine is showing high levels of sugar previous to that.  My doctor does his around 28-30 weeks.

  • I had to reschedule my regular checkup and glucose test for this week (originally scheduled for next week but I will be traveling). Both are on Wednesday morning.

For some reason, the midwifery practice I go to skips the one-hour test and has everyone do the 3-hour test off the bat... Kind of annoying, since it means I have to fast and sit at the clinic for 2+ hours, but at least I'll be done with it.

@lfrank12 my MW clinic schedules it for 24-28 weeks for everyone, so almost 28 weeks seems totally reasonable. In fact, I am in a Centering Pregnancy group (you have your regular appointments w/moms due the same month), and they planned to have everyone do their test at the same time next Monday. Some moms in the group will be 28 1/2 weeks by that point, while others, like me, are not yet 26 weeks.

  • I just had a regular 28 week check up and growth scan today. Baby girl is measuring right on track! She's also breech, but the ultrasound tech and midwife were not concerned since she still has plenty of time to turn. I got my glucose test results back and everything was normal! I start going every two weeks now so I scheduled my next two appointments!
  • Just got back from my regular checkup! Always great to hear that heartbeat. I am measuring way ahead of schedule (I'm 26+2 according to LMP, damn near 30 according to fundal height), so I get another ultrasound to check in on Flipper's (official nickname of our fetus) weight! Neither my doctor or I are particularly concerned, since she thinks the difference is likely related to my particular body shape, so now I'm just excited that I get another peek at this baby.

  • I had my last monthly check up today and my glucose screen, moving to every two weeks now! Everything looked good and I just found out I passed my 1 hour glucose test  I've been super anxious about it so I'm very relieved!

Follow up ultrasound in two weeks as my placenta was a little low at my AS.

Good luck to everyone with appointments and glucose screens this week!

  • I know it's early, but Happy birthday for tomorrow @peachesnbean! In case I don't get on much tomorrow I wanted to wish you a happy one! Good luck with your iron levels too
  • I see the OB who will be doing my csection tomorrow because I think she wants to set a date and do a general checkin. I have to get a few more cavities filled tomorrow too. Thursday I meet with the nutritionist the first time this pregnancy.
  • Just came back from my glucose test and regular checkup. Baby's HB was "excellent" according to the midwife, and like you, @MoonOverGoldsboro I am measuring a little ahead (I'm 25+2, fundal height was 28cm). She didn't even mention doing an ultrasound to check the baby's weight, but maybe I'm not measuring far enough ahead to worry? She did say the baby's position can affect the measurements, and that my measurement isn't out of normal range. I've also been slightly ahead since at least 22w, though, so it's constant.

I also had a number of other tests today: I have had some minor symptoms of either a UTI or vaginal infection for a couple of days, so they checked me for both. Both came back negative. Also, this is the week in my sister's pregnancy when she developed severe preeclampsia, so they checked my urine for protein (no protein!), and took blood to check my kidney function. I'll get the kidney and glucose results today or tomorrow, fingers crossed they are also normal!

  • Had my appt with the MFM today and looks like I have Hashimotos. We knew this could happen, so no surprise.
I go back in 4 weeks, then after that they want to see me twice a week.
Apperently she is head down, feet under my ribs and her arms out on either side. Explains all the movement I've been feeling!
  • @Spicyweiner do you have a family history of Hashimotos? And is it specfically pregnancy-related (do they expect it to go away after the baby is born)? My BIL has Hashimotos - obviously not pregnancy-related - but luckily it does not cause any serious issues for him. I hope you're feeling okay!

Mine is definitely because of pregnancy, but I don't know if it will go away after. I didn't even think to ask that, but I will ask my regular OB tmrw!
  • Still waiting on results from glucose test. I called yesterday and they told me if bad they'd call and if good they'd post it on my patient portal. I've gotten neither. I failed the first last time so I feel super anxious to know this time!
  • @madamerwin Awww, I'm sorry you don't get a bonus ultrasound! :) Seriously, though, yes, it sounds like you're not too far ahead. My OB said fundal height is hardly an exact science, and being off 2-3 weeks isn't unusual at all. It was the fact that I was more like 4 weeks off that warranted a closer look. We both expect that I'll get my ultrasound and find that the baby is measuring totally normally, but hey, it's worth a double check.

  • @Spicyweiner damn. that stinks. I hope it doesn't cause too many issues and it resolves after pregnancy! Its a good sign that they want you to come back in 4 wks, though. Means they aren't too concerned, right?
  • Aw thats rubbish @Spicyweiner , hopefully it will be a pregnancy only issue & resolve itself once your little girl arrives!
  • @Spicyweiner Hashimotos hypothyroidism is what I have. I've been diagnosed for almost 10 years. It's best been described to me as an "illness" of the Thyroid that can come and go.  It's an autoimmune disease. So it doesn't ever go away persay but it can go into remission.

For me it has mostly been gone... but I do have flares. My last pregnancy caused my most severe episode and I have been on Synthroid since (2 years). It is something that even when not on medication I have monitored by yearly blood work.

This is pregnancy I'm having monthly blood work and I feel a lot better then I did the first time around.

Are they putting you on Synthroid?

Please feel free to ask me any questions or concerns! It's a very manageable condition and it's so much better to have been discovered then if it goes unmonitored.
  • For the GTT, does the hour start from the time you started drinking the drink, or finished it?

  • @LaurenAshley04 I'm already hypothyroid so they are upping my Synthroid dose.
@Gretchypoo once I hit 3rd tri I have to go in twice a week for monitoring.
  • Sorry to hear you have that @Spicyweiner ! My best friend had it during both pregnancies. I wasn't actually aware of the medical term "hashimotos". Anyhow, it got resolved within a few months after the first baby was born and she's going for a follow up in a few weeks after giving birth to her 2nd baby not long ago. She said the doctor told her it generally does resolve itself with no lingering issues.

  • Good luck, @imalwaysme79! Remember that even if you "fail" the 1-hour test, many women go on to easily pass the 3-hour version.

I had mine today too - but my MW practice does a TWO-hour test instead of one-hour. They took my blood, then I had 10 minutes to drink the drink, then they started the clock. Blood draw #2 after an hour, blood draw #3 after two hours. They said I should have the results within a couple of days.

I asked the nurse why they do a two-hour test when everyone else seems to do a one-hour test, and she said a lot of people fail the one-hour, only to pass a two- or three-hour test, and since there are a lot of false positives for the one-hour, they just skip it. She also said that it's just more accurate in general, but that a three-hour is usually unnecessary. I just thought it was interesting, since on here it doesn't seem like anyone else has to do a longer test unless they fail the one-hour.

  • @madamerwin, that's interesting. I never even heard of a 2-hour test. My doctor said about 20% fail the 1-hour.
