In L&D for monitoring. Been having pretty intense Braxton Hicks since yesterday. I can't even walk up the bathroom or wash dishes without having major discomfort. Since I kept going into preterm labor with my first, thought I should come in to be checked. I think it will be fine though!
Hello ladies! Just got home. No preterm labor. Baby Girl is doing awesome. Cervix is long and closed. No UTI or dehydration. They just suggest taking it easy, which I have been doing. Hopefully the contractions improve soon. Thank you for the well wishes!
Funny story: I was getting a transvaginal ultrasond but was having a contraction so the tech had to wait with the probe in my vagina for it to pass. We waited about a minute. Longest most awkward, silent minute. We would have ruled the mannequin challenge had someone recorded us.
So happy for good news @foxrosy ! Is the distinction between intense Braxton hicks vs. preterm labor just that you've got no cervical changes? Scary I bet! Best wishes that everything settles down in there!
The contractions are continuing guys. I seriously don't know how I'm going to get myself and my son dressed and him to school when just the walk to the kitchen kicked off my contractions this morning. I seriously can't stand or walk without getting them!
@foxrosy Can they give you any meds to help slow them down?! At least for your own comfort. I can't imagine it's possible to "take it easy" when you are feeling that way!
@foxrosy would weekly Makena progesterone injections be a possibility? Some of my incompetent cervix group moms get them to "quiet the uterus" and prevent preterm labor. Not sure if your doctor would let you try it?
@leslie1331@FreshBakedBrownies I'm going to talk with my doctor about this. I'm actually really irritated that #1 my OB didn't call me yesterday nor the advice nurse. A receptionist took my symptoms and the advice nurse had a medical assistant call me to advise I go to L&D. #2 I never spoke with a doctor while in L&D. They put me on a monitor lying down and remarked "You aren't having any contractions". Well yes, I don't have them when I'm lying down. Then they did Ann ultrasound, found everything ok (thank God) and sent me home without the doc ever speaking with me. I get frustrated by providers who rely solely on tests and technology to deliver care. Sometimes you need to get old fashioned and return to laying eyes and hands on your patient and listen to what the eff they are telling you!!!! If it was busy in L&D I would've been more understanding, but it was a ghost town! Sorry for the rant. I just feel shitty today from not being able to function without contracting.
ETA: I've started recording the frequency and duration of contractions to share with my OB. Hopefully that will mean something.
I'm so sorry about the frustrating experience with your doctor and with L&D, @foxrosy! I hope you get things sorted soon.
I've been having some strange feelings today that I've wondered if they might be Braxton Hicks, but I think it's probably nothing. My anxiety level is through the roof as a result of the election, so I'm trying to breathe deep and stay calm, just in case!

@MoonOverGoldsboro I've had a few BH. For me, it feels like my abdomen gets really tight and it isn't painful, per se, but it gives me pause. It lasts only a few seconds, like 10- 30 seconds.
Does anyone have an approved list of cough drops and (if there are any) cold meds I can take? I feel a cold coming on and want to kill it now. Before I call my dr I figured id check here
@Gretchypoo I am definitely feeling some tightening, but only in the low half of my abdomen, which is making me think it may just be normal stretching and twinging from this growing belly. I'm trying to pay a little more attention now. At least this gives me something to focus on while I'm getting absolutely nothing done at work!

Feeling grand again now @Gretchypoo thanks. It was just a combination of the heat in the small space & no fresh air & standing for so long i think. Been really tired the past few days so early nights & im good. Works been pretty hectic & i had my cousins little boy again this evening so havnt had a chance to be on here as much this week
I had a weird one last night. I don't know what was up, but I got super cold, and felt like I couldn't get warm. The hottest shower I coule stand didn't do anything. Then we got in bed and I finally warmed up after about 15 minutes, but was then too hot and kicking off the covers. WTH? Is that hormones or ?
Re: Symptoms Thread 11/7/16
I think I finally found that "2nd trimeseter energy.. I think that is highly exaggerated
So i get like melasma type dark spots around the outer ridge of my areola? They're like freckles kind of but not cute and round? But blotches.
I dunno barnacles. They go away!
Tittie twins.

I'm gonna have to cut down on the salt, my feet are so swollen they don't need any help...
