Re: Babyshower AW
How many people attended? About 25? Not a huge number but it was good for us.
What did you wear? I don't have any pics of us at the shower right now, but fortunately our maternity photographer sent us our photos right after the shower and it was the same outfit
Was there a theme? My cousin and aunt asked me if I wanted a theme and I basically came back with "anything but sports." I do a lot of video game-themed cross-stitch pieces, namely those focused around Mario, so they did the whole theme as Mario Brothers, it was incredible. The whole spread of food was Mario-themed, down to "Piranha Plants" (grapes on sticks with strawberries on the ends to look like the piranha plants from the games).
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
It went really well! I was a little concerned about the mix of guests because it was half family and half friends, and a lot of people had never met before, so I knew that might be a tiny bit awkward, but it went fine.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Least favorite part: They had a "diaper-sniffing" game (crushed chocolate candies in diapers and everyone had to guess what the candy was). Favorite part: Just seeing friends I hadn't seen in a while.
Favorite/interesting gifts? A Totoro sleeper:
And someone gave us a volumized compendium of Dr. Seuss books which was really cool.
When was your shower?
I had 2. My mom threw me one on October 23rd and my MIL threw one on Saturday (11/5).
How many people attended?
Mom's shower was probably about 20 people and MIL's was about 30.
What did you wear?
I had a red dress for my mom's and a paisley dress for my MILs. I don't have any full pictures from my MILs but here is one of me and my cousin at my moms.
Was there a theme?
No
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
Yes. My mom procrastinated and didn't send invites out until late, so I was scared no one was going to show up, but the turn out was pretty good. I didn't really have any expectations for my MILs shower, but we had a few more friends attending that one, some of which I haven't seen since we were married a little over a year ago.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
Favorite part was just catching up with everyone. A couple of my friends and I had been trying to plan a time to go out to eat and our scheduled were not allowing. Now with the holidays coming up it's even harder to find time, so it was great to be able to see them.
Any pictures you want to share?
I only have a couple pictures from my showers. My grandmother a lot of pictures (and with a digital camera) but she doesn't know how to upload the pictures and has my cousin take her to get them developed. It's cute that she is so close (she's on facebook, she texts, she has the digitial camera and a laptop) but she just can't commit to letting go of the prints. Either way she sent us copies of all the pictures, so we have a few to put in frames and hang up but nothing that i can share.
My husband's aunt took pictures at my MILs shower and she takes the WORST photos. I honestly feel bad for her kids because all of the pictures are either blurry or they are just making weird faces since they are talking/eating/playing. I went through and found the best of the worst to post. I wish we had taken more pictures because my MIL did a great job setting everything up and my husbands cousin made adorable cupcakes.
Favorite/interesting gifts?
My favorite gift has been the travel system and additional base. We also have so many adorable clothes. One of our friends got a few onsies that were all really funny- one said "my mommy doesn't want your advice" and another said " You ain't cool unless you pee your pants". I also loved the people that sent the gifts direct to us vs bringing to the shower. My mom lives an hour away and my MIL lives 4+ hours away. Having a full car made the drive back worse. I'll send a gift directly to the mom to be and bring a book or outfit (something small) in the future. We had a few people go off registry so we have a couple duplicate gifts - but it's things that we can live at either one of our parents house so we won't need to cart back and forth as much- like a play gym. My ILs are also avid birders- so we have A LOT of owl and penguin stuff. My MIL got an owl themed bed-set, which is really nice of her, but I don't like owls. They kinda creep me out. I think it will be our back up set- or we only pull it out when they are coming for a visit. We still have a few things we need to get- but have plenty of gift cards and holiday sales are starting- so I'm feel very ready for her arrival now.
Hope everyone else has wonderful showers too!

How many people attended? i dont even know. Lots!!!
What did you wear? well saturday was a dual baby shower with another mama to be. She is expecting a girl so she wore a pink dress. I am having a boy so i wore a blue dress. My sunday shower i wore a different blue dress.
Was there a theme?
Not really. Lots of blue on sunday and pink/blue saturday for the dual shower.
Did it go as you expected/wanted?
My shower on saturday i got alot of things i didn't put on my registry which is fine but there are things i don't need...which is why people do a registry. My shower on sunday i got lots off the registry.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
Spending time with people in general. Also seeing how excited my husband got over certain gifts. The high chair and this baby einstein soothing fish tank thing i think was his favorite. My least favorite was all the belly rubbing and touching. I'm the type who doesn't like it and it made me uncomfortable but i tried to put on a happy face because of the effort they made and gifts.
Any pictures you want to share?
No. I don't share pictures really. But you can take my word for it that it was all cute.
Favorite/interesting gifts?
Oh man. Some adorable cute outfits. An auto rock'n"play sleeper from my sister. A pack'n'play from my sister in law. A dutailer rocker. A cute crib mobile with whales (ocean theme room). Lots of detroit red wings baby gear (big hockey/red wings fans). A baby bouncer. Oh and soooo much more. I can't list it all.
October 2
How many people attended?
About 40 people.
What did you wear?
A strapless peach dress.
Was there a theme?
Nope
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
I didn't have a lot of expectations, but I feel like it went well.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
My favorite part was watching people play the water breaking game, where they have to melt an ice cube to free the small toy baby and yell my water broke! My least favorite part was how uncoordinated the end was. Every wanted to say goodbye before they left, which is nice but I ended up just standing with a line of people waiting for about 20 min.

Favorite/interesting gifts?
My favorite gift was the batman onesie complete with a cap. We also got the cool turtle activity mat above, which can turn into a small ball pit when the baby is older.
How many people attended? 50ish
What did you wear? A blue striped ombré dress by Jessica Simpson from Motherhood Maternity. I bought it specifically for the shower when I was 10 weeks pregnant. I had a feeling he was a boy.
Was there a theme? Elephants (I've call him Peanut since the day we had the BFP).
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes! I loved seeing everyone and people were so excited. It's always nice to catch up with family and friends. Most people shopped our registry or picked gifts we genuinely liked. I only have a small pile of gifts to return/exchange. We still need to get the high chair, mattress, and the jumperoo though.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Catching up with everyone! I feel like I've been such a hermit this pregnancy between morning sickness, exhaustion, and now bed rest. Also we only played one game, per my request (baby bingo during gift opening). People seemed grateful not to participate in 938261 games. Speaking of bed rest, my least favorite part was being stuck in my seat almost the whole time. Anytime I was out of my seat, DH (when he was there) or my mom would yell until I sat back down. In their defense, I was contracting a lot that night so I probably should have listened more.
Any pictures you want to share?
Favorite/interesting gifts? His first Bills jersey (customized with his name and his dad's HS football number). My best friends split the cost of the Britax travel system. I was on the verge of tears because it was so generous. Otherwise there were a lot of Batman bibs, elephant stuffed animals, and Buffalo Bills onesies. ... I also got a bottle of Titos vodka from my friend. I'm really excited to use that gift!
How many people attended? 59
What did you wear? Navy blue lace dress
Was there a theme? Jungle animals
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. It was great! We got so many more clothes than I expected, my family really went nuts! I haven't even begun to wash and sort
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. All of it! I always love seeing everyone together for a joyous occasion
Any pictures you want to share?
Favorite/interesting gifts? We got a grey toddler armchair that rocks, it is too cute for words!
How many people attended? Probably 30-35
What did you wear? I made my husband take a picture of me before the shower just for this thread!
Was there a theme? Just girlie cute, it was so adorable !!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yes it was really nice. I wish i had had more time to catch up with people but other than that everything seemed to go really well. The food was amazing and everyone seemed to be happy
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. Greeting my family and seeing everyone.
Any pictures you want to share? My husband came when we started opening presents because I do not like the attention of sitting up there all by my self. I also needed his help, there were a few packages that had some tough tape/ribbons that he broke out his knife for lol I would still be there struggling if I didn't have him.
Favorite/interesting gifts? My favorite gift that I was greatly anticipating was from my aunt who crochets little tiny outfits!! I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them. She made so many

How many people attended? 51 people attended, we had one shower, so all side of family and friends !
What did you wear? a white top with lace on the shoulder area, dark jeans, and booties.
Was there a theme? not a theme but the colors were pink and gold.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. For the most part it did, my DH called me at the beginning upset because his aunt from California didn't receive her invite (we live in Pa), she happened to be in town for PA hunting season and was disappointed she didn't get an invite. I gave a list of people to invite and addresses to my cousin and she mailed them out. TBH, not sure if she didn't send it or it got lost, because my aunt told me she didn't get her invite either. Regardless, DH thought it necessary for me to call his aunt during the shower told apologize.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. cheesy I know but I love the "guess how big mommy's belly is" game. I love walking around and laughing at how big people make them.
Any pictures you want to share? will post at the bottom
Favorite/interesting gifts? We got a mammaroo from a few friends and their husbands, one of DH friend's who lives in Florida also contributed to the gift, which was totally unexpected as it was not a coed shower, it was just so thoughtful.
I also got a picture frame that says "me and my doggie", and one that says "the moment that took our breath away" which is under a space for the ultrasound photo, and then another space that says "the moment we fell in love" for a newborn photo.
How many people attended? About 35.
What did you wear? A blue floral dress from ASOS that came in the nick of time, because the dress I was originally going to wear was too small!
Was there a theme? Yes. It was vintage childrens books themed. The favors were To Kill A Mockingbird themed though, since my baby's name is Atticus, after Atticus Finch.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. Yeah! It was fun. I just wish I could have gotten a picture with everyone who attended.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. My favorite part was eating. We had a chili bar with all of the fixings, and we had cookies from my favorite food truck. Oh! We also had almost all of the guests write a note for Atticus. (That's my sister and party hostess with hers above.) I thought that was really special and good to look back on. Least favorite was making conversation with everyone. I am so awkward.
Any pictures you want to share? Sure!
Popcorn favors in To Kill a Mockingbird cup.
Close up of cup. It's supposed to look like the book cover. Back of cup is my favorite quote from the book.
Favorite/interesting gifts? I got a lot of cool stuff, but the most out of the blue one was a "lobby baby" beanie that my friend knitted for Atticus. (His nursery is Wes Anderson themed, and is a nod to the Lobby Boy from the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.)

My family shower was November 13
How many people attended?
About 30
What did you wear?
Jeans, boots and an olive green shirt (my family is very casual)
Was there a theme?
It was a general fall theme
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
Even better actually - capacity for drama was HIGH and everyone behaved so well!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
We had a home made photo booth with little signs that said things like #releasetheKRAKen and #cletusthefetus among other things and taking pictures with everyone was so fun
my BFF who lives 5 hours from where the shower was held came! She drove to the party and went back home right after because of work - that's 10 hours round trip - that's love lol

When was your shower? November 13
How many people attended? About 15-20
What did you wear? My floral PinkBlush dress
Was there a theme? Kind of a woodland theme. Really cute! My sister works at place that makes puppets and animatronics for some major companies and one of her coworkers makes his own stuff as illustrations for his children's books! They were adorable!
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share. I would say it did. It was small and sweet and we got lots of things to spoil our baby with. And it's always nice to have everyone under one roof together. Plus since it was right after the election the potential for drama was high but it went fine!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable. I love shower games, but I don't think everyone else feels the same way. They were fine though. I think besides just being with everyone I LOVED THE DONUTS!!!
Any pictures you want to share?
Favorite/interesting gifts? Some of the books were super cute! Ones I've never seen before. And of course being able to get some big ticket items was helpful- crib, monitor, etc. Also my MIL gave me a pair of jeans and some blankets that my husband used when he was a baby. So that was super sweet.
The weekend before Thanksgiving
How many people attended?
I would like to say around 40ish
What did you wear?
A non-maternity dress I found from a local store. It was a pink/purple lacey dress. Tummy looked cute in it.
Was there a theme?
Please see below.
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
It was fine. I enjoyed the party, but was very annoyed when my mother-in-law hired a decorator and the theme was supposed to be hearts, due to out sons heart defect and all I saw was blue and teddy bears all around, no hearts. It was nicely decorated, but not what the actual theme was supposed to be. She also last minute decided to change the menu to non-vegetarian... I'm a vegetarian. I did enjoy seeing friends and watching them play the baby shower games. Did not think I would find opening gifts in front of everyone so awkward.
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
Watching the baby shower games was favorite. Least favorite part was my mother-in-law scheduling the gift opening for last, when I had out of State friends, who needed to leave early to drive back home, as they were unable to get a hotel for one night (probably due to Thanksgiving).
Favorite/interesting gifts?
Overall a fun baby shower, but as much as I was worrying about not having one, I dont need another baby shower;)
11/12/16
How many people attended?
35
What did you wear?
Pink and white maxi dress from Pinkblush
Was there a theme?
No, just pink and white with gold glitter
Did it go as you expected/wanted? Share.
Yes for the most part. My mom put a friend in charge of games and wasn't happy with the games, I was though!
What was your favorite part? Or least favorite part if applicable.
Getting to visit with so many friends and family I do not get to see often. DH was also able to make it to the shower to help open presents, see guests, and pack up all the goodies.

My stepdad put a basket of books, stuffed animals, and sports onesies together for the baby. So much meaning behind it because he was very sick in the during my shower.
