@DiFazette so here's what happened, ugh. So they called me back, and told me that they wanted me to get my blood pressure checked today, and that if it was elevated, that they would want me to go to L & D over the weekend to get monitored. My parents have a wrist cuff meter, so I went there after work last night to get it from them, because they also wanted me to check it 3 times next week. So I get to my parents, and after about 10 minutes, I used it to check. It said 170/115. I was like uhhhh that's bad. My LB has been having BP issues, I text her, and she told me the wrist cuff ones are really inaccurate. So on my way home I stopped at Rite Aid, and used their machine. I waited before I did it, and tried to breathe calmly. The first time it was 163/103, the second time it was 176/111. Got home, used the wrist cuff again after I'd been sitting for awhile, 174/107. So I called the advice nurse, and she said I should go in. DH was FREAKING OUT. So we go to the hospital, and they have me pee, and hook me up to monitors, and start doing BP checks. They checked it 5 different times. Each time they said it was within normal ranges. It was from 127-135/75-87 each time they checked it. My pee was also normal, just trace amounts of protein. Soooooo I spent like 2.5 hours there, and then went home. After I had taken a shower, and relaxed for awhile, I used the wrist cuff again (which they said would be more accurate than the Rite Aid machines), and it was normal range....so I don't know how inaccurate it really is. I just used the wrist one again this morning, and it was 143/86. I'll check it again in a bit, and call my doctor office and see what they say about last night's hospital visit.
@brittnic86 yes... I've been told not to use the wrist cuffs by my OB, Cardiologist and Internist. That's enough for me not to trust them. So I'm taking BP every meal, first thing in the AM and in the evening. Good news is high blood pressure is not pre e! I'm with you girl... went through the same stuff this week at L&D! We need to stay on it though, because it can turn serious really fast... keep us posted!
I have been checking mine since I got pregnant. Couple times through out the day. I had high BP and was on meds before I got pregnant. Until about 30ish weeks mine has been fantastic 120-70ish. But now it's slowly creeping up. So I'm monitoring it at home and L&D have helped me 28thwith suggestions on keeping it low. Bed rest is honestly the best choice I have made
@brittnic86 I have an electronic arm cuff. I bought one because I had BP issues for years after my pre-e/HELLP and was medicated for a very long time so I had to know it was accurate. I purchased it from Walgreens ... $60 I think.
@brittnic86 - bring your cuff to the doctors the next time you go to compare the readings with the doctor's readings and that should give you a sense of how accurate it is.
Update. Hey guys. So I have been in the hospital since Wednesday night with preterm labor contractions. They got them down significantly but not as much as they would like. I got two betamethasone shots to help the boys lungs develop early, but right now it's still on a day to day basis. Don't really know more right now except that I'll be here another night.
Hi ladies! I talked with her early this morning. They've gotten contractions to slow down but its been a long night of no sleep for our momma. Hopefully shes getting some rest this morning!
So tired! Ha. So they had me on medicine to stop the contractions, which gave me a "crackle" in my chest, so now i am staying until they get a handle on that. Baby boys are doing great as always. Hopefully we can keep them in there a few more weeks!
@Toller Yes, the contractions stopped when they put me on magnesium sulfate, but that caused a tightening and ultimately some fluid in my lungs. So they are still working to get al of that out before they send me home. I am also on nifedipine, to keep the contractions at bay, which is working well.
Guys... anyone having severe pain in their upper abdomen? It's in the middle about 2 inches under my breastbone. I'm not sure if it's because baby B (who's right there) is just getting big but I'm concerned about the severity of the pain. Work me up multiple times last night and really bothering me so far today.
@Amecsey so glad they got the PTL under control!! How are you feeling?
@DiFazette I've had some pretty intense standby pains here and there but it rotates around my belly and isn't constant (or even very common) I think it definitely doesn't hurt to give your OB a call. Could be just a baby pinching a nerve on/by your ribs?
@DiFazette can you describe the pain? my baby b has felt these last two days like he is shoving himself up my ribs- has woken me up multiple times- but that's more of a definite rib pain....and I can get it to lessen if I stand up, bend over, or go on my hands and knees for a bit.
@toller it's pretty severe constant pain like I took a softball to the area - maybe like I have a huge, bad bruise? It's tender to even the lightest touch.
@brittnic86 why - telling them apart? I will be doing some kind of marker for sure if these boys are identical. Too much sleep deprivation with two to expect my brain will keep it straight.
@DiFazette yes, and I'm worried when they're older they'll trick us I told DH that we needed to bring nail polish in case they're identical, and he like freaked out and said we can't put nail polish on them! I dunno why...lol.
@brittnic86 even if they aren't identical....... for me- I think I'd still do a marker for a while!!!!!! I'm sure in my sleep deprived state- I'll be checking in diapers if they look similar... LOL
@DiFazette a lady at my work said her son bruised her ribs.....so quite possibly? Seems like an odd place though...but perhaps it's radiating from somewhere else? Sorry- that sounds miserable
@brittnic86 mine are definitely identical- modi girls- AND they're probably the same size and I'm nervous! We'll leave their hospital bracelets on for a while and I'll ask for another set or two if possible, otherwise I'll paint their nails or something?
Re: Moms of Multiples 10/25/16
I can't recall exactly what mine was on Tuesday but it was higher than its ever been.
@jazzminlee I'm glad your doc finally came around!
