Same with the Insomnia!! I can't sleep, and I'm getting so tired during the day! The second-tri was so short.... I feel like the first trimester lasted FOREVER... Then the wonderful second trimester just went *poof* along with it's energy.....
I can never fall back asleep after I get up to pee (at least three or four times a night). Last night around 4am, while I was on Pinterest on my phone, DH was like why are you awake? ... why are you asking me dumb questions?! Go back to sleep!
So OB thinks baby is just wedged against my pelvis since the pain doesn't come and go with the contractions. She suggested I may feel like this until delivery?! Please just wack me over the head and wake me up when it's time to push! Recommended lots of fluids and taking it easy. I discovered I need to stay on top of the acetaminophen though. As soon as it started wearing off I went from uncomfortable to OMG in 30 minutes. Thanks for all the well wishes gals!
Speaking of insomnia, my fiancee gets on my case about how I'm unable to take naps. I'm like, "Have you ever tried taking a nap while your insides are writhing around? It's not like trying to sleep during the day is somehow different than night."
He then put his hand on my bump while I was laying on my side last night and was like, "WHAT IS HE DOING IN THERE? IS HE ALWAYS THAT CRAZY?" And I'm just sitting there rolling my eyes like, "NOW YOU GET IT."
I am insane today. Hormonal and acting crazy. Thankfully working from home but when my asshole dog peed in the house 20 minutes after I let him in I had to just put him in his cage and text H what's waiting for him or I might've killed the damned dog. Rage and tears like I've never experienced before holy shit.
@BAJDesigns when I get intense Braxton hicks or bad tail bone pain , warm showers really help. I let the water run right on my back and the heat does wonders! I had really intense back labor with 2 of my labors and this was the only thing that gave relief! FX your pain doesn't last for the reminder of your pregnancy!
The pressure I have is soo bad. I feel like he is just gonna fall out. My dr says he is riding so low that I'm just gonna be uncomfortable but for 8 more weeks
The insomnia is really stressing me out. For some reason, my body thinks it's cool to wake up and stay awake from 3-6 am. Like wide-ass awake. And I'm resubmitting a grant on the 1st of December... I have to be at the top of my mental game, which is just hard enough as it is, with a literal 2 months until I'm due.
God bless chiropractors. Still waddling and sitting in some bizarre positions but got some degree of relief. Now let's hope I can sleep tonight so I don't look like a zombie at the shower tomorrow!
I'm waving the white flag and going to the doctor today for this horrible cough I have that's keeping me up all night. I hate to take medicine while pregnant, but this is necessary. I just hope they can give me something for it, and it's nothing too serious.
Also, on the cervical checks, I didn't have one last time until my 40 week appointment. They left it up to me even then. I was curious to know if anything was happening, but you can be dialated for a long time and still not be in labor. In my case, there was no progress, so it was actually just kind of a let down if you have your hopes up that baby might be on its way.
Called and left a message for the nurse on Friday so probably will hear back Monday--I have glucose test plus Dr appointment on 11/10 so they might wait to have me in then. I did some research and while I do have itchy hands/feet from time to time it's not constant or waking me up at night. I also read it can be triggered by stress. This week I was put in the middle of an extremely stressful situation at work between two co-workers which lasted until the next day and that's when the itching started. It's since gone away as I settled down--but still doesn't hurt to check. I'm of course zeroed in on baby activity and he's kicking away in there but if things change I have no problems going to the ER! Thanks for giving me the heads up! And will let you guys know when they call back.
Yes, pregsomnia hit me hard this week. So frustrating! I was woken up with a huge jolt this morning with a horrible Charlie horse cramp in my calf. Holy hell, those hurt! Feet are swollen and can't wear my rings anymore. Third tri is so fun! **yawn**
I have this awful sinus infection that will not go away. My head is screaming constantly. My hips feel like they're no longer attached to my body. Everything from the boobs down is sore and nothing helps. I can't sleep anymore and I'm so tired of peeing 97 times a day.

So lesson learned about Googling symptoms in pregnancy. According to my Dr isolated hands and feet itching without itching in other areas of the body, that's not continuous and without a rash is not a direct indicator of the liver not breaking down bile properly and it going into the bloodstream. It can definitely be brought on by sudden stress--the extreme itching that is. They're still going to test on Thursday (having a blood draw anyways) but Dr isn't concerned. Nurse got a kick out of my message I left and thanked me for giving her a laugh. I may have said I went to Dr. Google and should not have opened that door. Lol She also apologized I didn't get called back until this AM but they had multiple deliveries Friday and were slammed with Dr coverages.
I have just been having a horrible time these last couple of days. I threw my back out on Saturday, had horrible, painful constipation on Sunday and Monday morning, threw up Monday night and woke up at midnight with a Charley Horse.
I now feel silly about complaining to my husband about not being able to sleep well anymore because of my hip pain. Just hip pain is great, let's go back to that.
I'm starting to seriously regret commenting that I didn't understand when people claim that their baby kicked them so hard in the ribs that it bruised them or broke a bone. He got so big that instead of kicking, it just turned into lots of rogue limbs rolling around and making my skin stick out... was laying on my side last night and he was doing just that and then suddenly it's like he went "Super Saiyan" and he kicked so hard that it made a noise. What. the. hell.
Also, I know there were a few people who hadn't gained much weight in third tri. Has anyone had that for multiple weeks? I've gone from 28 weeks to 32 with no weight gain whatsoever
@canavara lol "Super Saiyan" I love that. Last night, I was laying in bed and he kicked so hard the bed jolted a little bit!
As for the weight gain, I didn't gain that much in first and second tri, it was a slow process. But third tri I can already tell the difference. I have a ravenous appetite. I could eat all the damn time lol. Gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks, yikes! At least I eat (mostly) healthy? lol
As long as your dr doesn't have an issue with it, then it shouldn't bother you. As long as you are eating and getting the nutrients you need.
Yes, ma'am @canavara. I have gained nothing since week 27. I'm 32 weeks now and up 18 lbs or so total. Doctor isn't worried. Fundal height is on track and baby is growing well. Doctor said to not even weigh myself if it's going to cause me anxiety and they'll just check me at my appointments.
Anyone starting to lose hair? I have wavy/curly hair and only ever brush my hair in the shower. It's seems to have picked up over the last few days.
Also, I have this feeling in my throat over the last 2 weeks where it feels like I swallowed a pill without water. I consulted Dr. Google and its called Globus Sensation... anyone else?

@canavara same here. No weight gain from 28-32. I'm only up about 10lbs total, (although I had a lot of catching up to do after first tri that I think they credit me for toward total gain) but measuring on track so they told me not to sweat it. Although this heartburn is really making eating and drinking hard! I'm like can you please retract your feet from my stomach kid!?
@susykat77 what do you mean in regards to the throat? Last week, I had a sore/swollen throat which was on its worst the 3rd day. It literally felt like someone punched me in the throat. Disappeared the next day. It came back yesterday, and it's worse today, but not as bad as last week. It feels tolerable, for now. I mentioned this to the Dr at my appointment today but said all I can take is Tylenol and lozenges like halls or ricola
@canavara i've been struggling with weight gain, too. i stopped working out and i know that i've lost muscle, so i think baby's growing, but muscles are shrinking, making it look like no weight gain. i wear my coat and shoes when i get weighed at clinic so my ob doesn't say anything. measuring fine tho, for whatever that's worth.
@susykat77 i've lost hair in the front above both temples. i now have this thin wispy crap that looks like baby hair. my hairdresser said its common, so i'm trying to ignore it. its so obvious when i wear my hair up.
Everything I have read says that BH will last for a minute or two and then the tightening will relax. What I am experiencing is just an overall general tightness that seems to last for up to an hour or more. I generally feel it at night more than anytime else. Sometimes I honestly think it's from my stomach being so full after dinner. Could these actually be BH or am I possibly just experiencing some digestive issue? I'm pretty confident they're not real contractions because they're not painful (just uncomfortable), there's nothing timeable or rhythmic about them, and I've had 4 NSTs in the past 2 weeks and those have only picked up one contraction ever. Thoughts?
@LoneStar21416 I've had the tightening in my stomach after dinner (really, after most meals) since about 20 weeks, before I even noticed BH. It's super uncomfortable. I was complaining about it tonight walking the dogs with H. I think it's with the stomach being full everything is so squished. It's uncomfortable, but not painful and takes a while to go away. I figure I'll just be dealing with this til the end.
Last night I had what felt like a real contraction (similar to what I felt when I was in labor with DD as opposed to normal BH) in the middle of the night - it was painful enough that I had trouble breathing and it had to have lasted at least a minute although I can't be sure because I didn't time it. I was so worried! I'm only 28w6d so it is way earlier than I would expect baby to come and I am not prepared yet - no crib, no stroller, none of our other gear set up yet (waiting for after the holidays in case we get gift cards since I'm due 1/28)... but that was the only one I had. Baby has been moving all day and I'm sore and have had normal BH contractions, but nothing that's been anything like last night.
I'm definitely mentioning this to my doctor at my appointment in a week and a half but has anyone had a similar experience? I'm all paranoid that this baby is going to be coming super early now haha
@karaelaine1991 Yep I've had a few "huh that really feels like the real deal" and then just BH to follow. It definitely had kicked my booty in gear wanting to get things ready. Every time I mention these things to my midwife she seems to shrug it off as normal second time mom pregnancy symptoms.
@hayhay87 Lol, I was on the couch with my husband and it hurt so bad made me yell!! I think I scared him. LOL
@karaelaine1991 I'm a FTM, but Ive started having some stronger BH here and there. It happened to me couple times while in bed also. Like strong period cramps, but without the tightness. I would still call your OB if you're worried just to mention it. But personally I think it's because baby is getting bigger and waaaaay more active, and an active baby causes BH.
@karaelaine1991 I'm a FTM but I had my first painful one on Thursday at 32 weeks. I'd keep an eye on the clock if it happens again and like others said, mention it to your doctor for sure.
I was a bit bummed because my doula has been teaching us breathing techniques and it would have been a great opportunity to practice but I was soooo caught off-guard by it! I just got up and ran to the bathroom thinking it was gas pain or something even though I knew I didn't need to use the bathroom. It felt like a weird mix of that and menstrual cramps, except more... knife-like?
For those of you who are STMs that have experienced it, where would you place the pain of those early BHs relative to the pain you experienced during labor? Was the pain more like early labor pain that got much worse as you moved into active labor?
@canavara the BH that I've had have never felt painful, just very uncomfortable. All of the real contractions I had with my first son, even the early labor ones were painful, and the pain increased the further along in labor I was.
I remember thinking with my first that I would never be able to tell the difference but I absolutely could. I woke up at 2am with my first and knew they had to be real contractions because they weren't anything like the BH I had been having. The pain was pretty mild at the time, but for me I felt it much lower and it was more concentrated than the BH which I typically felt through my whole belly as it got tight.
Oh weird. I wonder if I really did have a legit contraction. I've had non-painful, uncomfortable BH before where it quickly spread all over my bump as a tightness. This was kind of concentrated around where you'd normally have menstrual cramps if you weren't pregnant (so, low and in the pelvic region). It was just the one time, so I just assumed it was a BH.
I'm sure it's different for everyone, but it could've been a contraction and not BH. If it was just one I wouldn't worry too much, just bring it up to your dr at your next visit.
@canavara I agree with @nolemomma14; all of my BH last pregnancy were just tight/weird feeling, not painful, which is why the painful one that I had the other night caught me so off guard. I hope I won't have too many more like that until it's the real thing!
I agree with PP on the regular vs. BH contractions. I was induced both times, so I've only ever had pitocin contractions, but at the beginning they were like light period cramps every 5-6 min. They then moved to heavier period cramps, closer together, and then eventually (for me, after a couple hours as they continually bumped up the pitocin) you could not compare them to menstrual cramps.....they were in a league all their own and you can't be quiet or sit/stand still through them!
Ok. TMI here. I heard some people say your system cleans itself out before labor. I do not think I'm in labor or even close to it, but holy cow I've seriously gone to the bathroom like 5 times today. And it's not diarrhea so not stomache virus symptoms. I've never gone this much. I usually have the opposite problem.
@canavara the biggest difference for me between a bh and real contraction was how it started in the front and wrapped around to my back. It was tight and achy much like period cramps but always started in the low front and wrapped around. And they were timetable, didn't stop when i relaxed and got closer together. I've had more painful BH this time around than last and LOTS more of them, but it hasn't triggered "oh this is it" type of response from my brain.
