Symptoms w/o 10/31

We haven't had a symptoms thread in a while so I figured I'd start one and I can start us off.

Is anyone else having crazy pelvic pain after working out? Or does working out have nothing to do with it and this is just third tri life? It feels like my pelvis is going to split in half. The pain gets better once I start moving a lot (i know it's just the ligaments and all of that), but gah. I am complaining about the pain, but I'm not going to stop working out... because the only worse pain is constipation and I can't deal with that. Sorry if TMI but pregnancy and the struggle is real.

Re: Symptoms w/o 10/31

  • I don't know if I've had straight up pelvic pain while working out but I have had a lot of discomfort--been chalking it up to just center of gravity changes and probably using muscles differently to support all the weight going on down there!

I've been having nonstop shortness of breath this week. Also every single time I lay down on my side now, the baby moves his legs around in a way that is impossible to ignore. It feels like I have an alien writhing inside of me. Sit upright and he jams his butt up in my diaphragm and it's uncomfortable in a totally different way. I can't believe he still going to potentially double in weight before coming out.
  • Loading the player...
  • Shortness of breath here too. Trouble sleeping that I think is more mental and than physical. I'll wake up to use the bathroom and not be able to fall back asleep because my mind will be racing. I'm generally still physically comfortable lying down though.
  • @christac1010 omg that cartoon is so real life. Hahah. I have to do like a whale flop when I want to switch sides in bed.

Pelvic pain and shortness of breath is an issue for me too. I have to walk about a mile and a half each way as part of my commute and the pain hits me each time. And I start taking big painful breaths to the point where I'm worried someone is going to stop me and ask if I'm okay...

Also I continue to get nose bleeds (for the first time in my life)/ have bloody snot every time I blow my constantly congested nose (sorry if tmi). Yay

@christac1010 lol I feel you on the turning over in bed. My fiancee told me this morning, "I played a game last night to help me fall asleep where I counted the seconds until you moved. I literally never got past 20 seconds. I played for an hour." I know I wake up to switch sides because it hurts my hip if I lay on one side for too long but every 20 seconds, yeeeesh.

@LoneStar21416 Same here with the not able to sleep! I got up to pee at 3AM last night and then laid in bed anxious for an hour about how I'm not falling asleep. Then kept waking up after that stressed out about not being able to sleep. Hopefully this doesn't last for the rest of pregnancy!
  • I have so much pelvic pain and pressure. I have a sever case of SPD. No exercise for me. My Chiro said she would need to see me every other day to get me out of pain. Too bad my insurance only covers 3 visits a year! I can only justify going once every two weeks.
  • I feel you all on the pain and sleeping.  I am just so uncomfortable all the time.  Today is particularly bad - had to put my support belt on to sit at my desk chair because my hips are in so much pain :(. Also, baby A's feet are right under my ribs and it is so painful sometimes.  Of course baby starts pushing the most when I'm finally trying to relax.

  • Anyone extremely itchy on their hands and feet? I'm talking nothing will satisfy the itch and I'm putting Benadryl cream on my palms and in between my fingers and bottoms of my feet in addition to taking a pill Benadryl. It comes at random times and won't go away sometimes even with medicine. It's sooo intense and I have little raw areas because I'm scratching so much. Lol

    Could it be athletes feet?

  • The image on flipping in bed is the real struggle. I know I have a human inside my uterus, but when flipping over he feels like this a huge freaking rock. And it hurts if I'm not careful... lol

Getting up, rolling, flipping in general is all getting hard. I'm still in the habit of getting of the couch like a normal person, bending forward to stand, or twisting to the side. It always hurts and causes BH. I always end up going "ow, ow, ow" after getting up.

The other night my husband had to tell me "Babe, you're pregnant, you need to stop getting up and twisting so fast. That's why you keep getting Braxton Hicks!" So now, if he's on the couch with me, and I start getting up, he pushes against my back or bottom to help me so I don't bend forward/twist. lol.

  • So I came here today to whine about pelvic pain and you guys beat me to it lol! One of these girls is officially IN my pelvis as of this morning and it feels like I'm doing some sort of werewolf-esque metamorphosis, expanding at my inner thighs so my legs really don't seem to fit my body anymore  :s my undercarriage is super swollen too so I'm officially nervous about PTL (well, not really PT for twins since they usually come 32-37 weeks but still. I'm not ready!!!)

I totally ditched work in the middle of the day earlier this week to get a massage- felt great but didn't do much for my pinched/ tight back. She worked my hips a LOT and they felt good for a couple of days but the pain was back last night

@ashanne88 I pretty much can't move without my support belt anymore! I'm all wrapped up in my new woven wrap right now and it's ok but it feels claustrophobic (no stretch) but my belt isn't really big enough anymore, it pops off when I sit down!  :o
  • I'm pretty sure my pubic symphysis will be the death of me. After trying to sleep in bed for several hours last night to no avail, I finally go up to get in the recliner and got some sleep. I'll be starting out there tonight for sure.

You should call your OB TODAY to let them know- itchy hands & feet is a sign of cholestasis
This! ^^^^ A coworker had this last pregnancy, call your doc just to make sure!

  • More heartburn here - this baby is going to have a full head of dark, dark hair (because DH has dark hair and was born with a lot of it; I have strawberry blonde and was born with very little, just like DD),  I would bet so much money on it! I'm starting to have trouble falling and staying asleep but I'm not in too much discomfort yet.  I'm only 27 weeks (28 on Saturday) and I'm carrying this baby/gaining weight differently than I did with DD. it's making me wonder if this baby is going to be on the smaller side (6-7 lb range, I'm thinking). DD was 8lb3oz. it's so interesting to compare and contrast things between my two pregnancies!

I'm also starting to feel more movement from the new baby, finally. I have  an anterior placenta this time so I'm not feeling this baby anywhere near as much as I felt DD. however, I do think that part of that is her personality.  It's so funny, last night DH and I were watching her move and she was moving so much but as soon as I verbally called attention to it or DH put his hand on my belly, she'd stop.  with DD, she would move more when we did those things. So I'm thinking that this baby is either shy or sneaky, haha!

  • I have had so many Braxton hicks contractions that have been getting more intense as the days go by. I had a Dr appt yesterday, the good news is I'm not dilated, bad news is my cervix is partially open according to my Ob. Nothing to freak out about yet, but I am fairly certain this baby will be out by the end of December (I'm due Jan 4th).

  • Terrible horrible shoulder/back pain. I went and got a massage yesterday, it is better, but still hurts so much. It was okay yesterday after the appointment, but she basically was like "This is all I can do, your back is messed up, it probably will just a bad spot for you this pregnancy.  It is my fault because we are moving cubes around at work, and while everyone was like "Don't MOVE anything" so that was nice, but packing and unpacking my stuff took a toll on my back, so that wonderful massage I got yesterday is almost null after the number I did on it this morning unpacking.

New symptom is that I now am apparently allergic to adhesives. I burned myself last week on the oven, and in order to protect it, I put a bandaid on it. Ugh, that lasted a few hours before I had to rip it off because it was red and itchy. I had a bandaid mark all day. I had been just wearing long sleeve shirts to cover it up, but I pulled out a short sleeve shirt to wear today so I put another bandaid and it is already red and itchy. Not sure if it is latex or adhesives but I will tell my doctor at the next appointment.

  • @newyearsbaby5 yes, I get intense, sharp pain on my right side when working out, but the midwife said it was normal and that my support belt should help that considerably.  She was right!  I hope you get some relief, too!

@BrennansMom2012 let us know what your doctor says about your hands/feet! Thinking of you.

@karaelaine1991 this baby is exactly like yours (and we both have AP), in that if I try to video movement, have DH feel it, etc, it all stops.  So frustrating!  Although, my other two were exactly like that too.
As for heartburn, I have had almost none this pregnancy and I had SO MUCH the last two.  DD2 was born with so much hair and such dark skin (jaundice) that she looked Native American!  I am sooo white, freckly, and blonde

I'm feeling frustrated that I gained 8lb in the last four weeks.  It didn't dawn on me until after my appt why the midwife asked if I was eating ok...!
  • @AmRe214 - developing random skin allergies is so weird - I'm allergic to my Fitbit band now!

  • My midwife explained to me that our pubic bones are held together by cartilage the size of a chiclet. Crazy! That's really small.

@TinaBelcher I am so swollen down there too! I haven't had a single vaginal/cervical exam my entire pregnancy. I'm just realizing this might be odd. Is there anyone else who hasn't had an exam at all?
  • @underthesea I haven't had any checks either. My office doesn't do them until 36 weeks, or if they have a reason to believe you might be dilated
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • @nolemomma14 ok that's what I thought. I don't remember being checked until further along last time around.
  • @underthesea I've only been checked when I was in triage with contractions 3 minutes apart- nothing since! I don't want anyone anywhere near my vagina right now, this swelling is SO uncomfortable  :s

My local moms assume that one of these girls has officially "dropped" which is scary... (seriously I'm running out of time ::hyperventilating::) but not alarming yet
  • I get a cervical US every 4 weeks at the perinatologist (since it's a well-lubed, skinny wand it doesn't hurt).  I don't think I had a single one with DS until I was in the hospital though.

@TinaBelcher I started freaking the hell out this week now that it is November and babies are actually going to be here in a few weeks.  I am not ready at all for them.  It doesn't help that I'm getting asked all the time when I'm due/babies are coming.

@underthesea my OB checked it the very beginning just to confirm the pregnancy.  But since then I haven't had one. And now with my MW it's optional. I can either be checked for dilation or just "let nature do its thing." Lol

  • @underthesea I haven't had one either. I had a vaginal US when I went in for my 20 week scan, but that's it.
  • So the Braxton hicks are back with a vengeance and now have some pretty uncomfortable tailbone pain coming with them. It kept me up most of the night even with heat and acetaminophen. I'm thinking this warrants an OB call. This uterus needs to chill!
  • @BAJDesigns yes, I'd call or go in asap....that doesn't sound like normal BH.
    Keep us posted!

  • Ugh I have now had my first serious encounter with acid reflux/heartburn.  Two nights ago I woke up coughing up acidic junk which burned the heck out of my throat.  It was spurred on my large, spicy acidic dinner (pizza & wings) in combination with sinus drainage.  It was horrible and triggered my gag reflex and it was just all downhill from there.  I called the doc yesterday and they said I could take Zantac. I've never had this before and I'm feeling for you ladies who have been dealing with it all pregnancy.  My stomach is still unsettled and I feel nauseated when I bend over. Yuck yuck yuck.

  • So does anyone have experience with the symptom "lightening crotch?" For the past week I've been feel sudden and sharp pains in my vaginal area that last literally a second and feel sort of like a kick with a shock. I'm 30 weeks. Is this too early to be getting this? It literally lasts seconds and is not constant.

Disclosure: I saw there was a separate thread started on something similar but thought I'd bring it here as I know loads of people look here!
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @hayhay87 yep, I had that right around 28 or 29 weeks (31 now). super sharp pain that catches you off guard. I happened to have an OB appt that week and talked to the OB about it and she said it normally doesn't happen until a bit later, but the baby can be pushing on a nerve. since i was also having intense RLP (which at the time I didn't realize was RLP, but now I know and it hasn't gone away), she checked my cervix and all was good. i haven't had it since so baby must've moved. i wouldn't worry about it and it will probably go away, but come back with a vengeance later in the third tri (so I hear).
  • @BAJDesigns fingers crossed your uterus calms down!
  • @curlysue22 Hope the Zantac helps! I think I've graduated to Prilosec at this point.  :s This baby better have a head full of hair!

This hit me out of left field this week! I was reading an article about what exactly causes third trimester insomnia and one of the reasons was "anxiety about not getting enough sleep." The irony.
  • @canavara me too! It was so sudden! From one day to the next, I just couldn't sleep. The "anxiety over no sleep" seems hilariously cruel, especially when everyone around me keeps telling me to "get rest while I can!" Ugh...
