Hello!
DH and I have had quite the journey to here. We got married in October 2012 planning to start "trying" the next year. The next year, I got so incredibly sick that I had brain surgery in December 2013 to correct a brain malformation that had previously been uncomplicated. Anyways, so fast forward about six months and we decide we're ready. We tried to let nature take its course for about a year, and then started going to my GYN. She did the usual blood tests, US, and a HSG which we did in June of 2015. All the tests came back, eggs were great, I ovulate just fine, hormones were in balance, etc. DH got checked and all was well there too. We tried four round of clomid with no success so she referred me to a RE.
We were about to call the RE in February of this year, when I spent a weekend in the hospital with an un-diagnosed heart issue. We spent the next five months tackling that issue, ending with a small procedure in late June. I hated waiting, so we met with my RE two weeks prior to the procedure, and we started our first round of IUI two weeks later. :-)
At my first meeting with my wonderful RE she did all the blood tests and US again, and again, all "normal". They noted that my prolactin levels were a little elevated, so they wanted to retest down the road. Which we did when I went in for my beta from the first IUI. BFN on the IUI, and they said I had a problem with my prolactin levels, I had a small brain tumor, and needed to go get an MRI ASAP.
I am not a stranger to MRIs, but the idea of another brain issue definitely freaked me out, so we put everything on hold again. We got the results that the tumor was so small they couldn't see it, but it had to be there because of the prolactin levels. (On a good note, there were a lot of great post-operative notes about my previous surgery that showed how well that had healed... small wins!) We got those results in August, started meds to balance the levels in September, retested, then finally started another round of IUI in early October. (CD1 was actually our four year anniversary! Go us!)
I was so positive this time. We had finally found a "cause" that I could blame, and we "fixed it." Having something to point at as the possible reason for this years long struggle has been a huge help, but as I am now at CD 23/8 dpiui, I'm starting to doubt. Which is the worst! I've tried to be so good this month. Cut the caffeine, alcohol and sugars, and have been taking things easy.
Since this isn't all about infertility, a little about me and DH. I'm 30, he's 31, no kids but four fur babies (two dogs, two cats.) We've been together over seven years at this point, and our time is usually just devoted to being together. We go to car shows and bike shows, we ride our motorcycles together, we watch TV and a lot of movies, and take our dogs with us on vacation whenever we can.
Hello to all, and thank you for letting me be a part of your community. These past 2.5 years have had some great moments unrelated to this journey, but they have also had a lot of absolutely terrible moments of heartbreak and let down. It's nice to speak to someone who understands.

Re: Introducing Myself
What a stressful journey this must have been for you guys! I can definitely relate to having to put TTC on hold due to medical issues. My DH and I originally planned to start trying about two years ago, then I had a car accident and spent the next 9 months recovering. When we finally got back to the point of feeling ready again my DH was diagnosed with cancer. Obviously the priority is always to get yourself and DH healthy first, but its still so frustrating in the meantime. I try to think of it this way - at least you got these surgeries/procedures/hospital stays out of the way first, rather than having to face it while pregnant or with an infant. I really hope the bulk of the stress and low points are behind you! I have only been a member here for a few days, but it is really nice to talk to people who can relate. I hope your most recent IUI results in you only being a member on these boards for a VERY brief period

There is a November IUI board thread here, you can find lots of support there!
Also, can I just say that I'm super impressed you cut out sugars? I've cut out caffeine and alcohol but sugar is my weakness.

@PennStateCait I commented on the October IUI board last night.
DH and I decided last night that if this one doesn't take that we're going to start the IVF discussion. Hopefully we don't have to do that though!
