Petty Problem Saturday 10/29

Re: Petty Problem Saturday 10/29

  • @penelope4612 @yellingbanana @thedaint87 unfortunately I am in the situation where the only gift receipts that we received are for the few things we did get off of the registry or for the diapers. The clothes, I can't even begin to guess where they came from, if they're not from second hand stores (DH's family is thrifty), and then we got a lot of interesting home made gifts that not sure how practical they will be. We did get a few books, and luckily no repeats of the same kind! I am grateful for all those that came out to celebrate with us and for all that we did receive. I was just hoping that maybe one of our sets of parents would get us a big ticket item!

I have begun my intense spreadsheet breaking down all of the items we registered for, their level of priority, their costs at each different store (Babies R Us, Target, Amazon). Then from this, I determined where we will be getting each item from based on the cost and the completion discount. So at least we have a clear idea of what we will be paying for the rest of the items, though we are waiting two weeks to do this since we have some final organizing in the house we need to do before cluttering it full of baby supplies! I keep reminding myself that our baby will be provided for and will have everything it needs, just sometimes I panic because I want to give it the world, but in reality, at the beginning it just needs a safe place to sleep and my boobs.

  • @AbriannaO keep an eye out for the good Target sales, where you get gift cards for every $100 spent or so. DH and I bought a bunch of unpurchased stuff off our registry after our shower, and now we have $120 in gift cards to get one or two last big ticket items.
  • @gowenc thanks for the tips!! That's another reason why we are waiting a little while before making purchases because we want to see what sales or incentives may pop up between now and when we start buying. Plus, I want to see what type of gift card diaper deals show up at target to help with those costs as well.

While we got probably 20 packs of diapers in various sizes and quantities (diaper raffle), we still need to get a ton more! I am kind of glad we didn't get too many though because I fear that we will get too many of one type and those will be the ones that don't work with our baby. A few mommy friends suggested to get a couple more size 1 packs just to have more than the 2 weeks worth we have in various brands and then to not buy more of the bigger sizes until we know what brand and type work for our baby. So future gift cards that we get from sales will be going to diapers.
  • @AbriannaO Not sure if you know this or not, but at most stores you can exchange diapers for a different size. Not sure how it works if you're wanting to exchange for a different brand but I don't think you even have to have a receipt. Maybe someone else more experienced can chime in on this? :)

Yup agreed! We did the same + completion coupon saved a ton and have those GCs left over to use for things we didn't know we needed/diapers etc once baby is here. Also look for % discount for baby item sales. The glider I wanted was super cheap for like 3 days!

Also, target screwed up one of our orders-we got a doll clothes closet (Wtf) instead of the bassinet, but I called and they took care of it right away. Got my bassinet express shipped and more gift cards for the mistake! I am very happy with them!
