How are your numbers this week? I didn't have to test this week due to a couple of steroid shots to help strengthen LO's lungs in the event of an early delivery since I had pre-e and gestational hypertension with my last 2 babies. My OB said not to test. So I took her at her word and didn't. But I could tell just by feeling that the steroid shot made my numbers higher.
But I'm back on the testing train today. So far so good!
How many weeks pregnant are you? 33+4
Any rants/raves/questions? As I indicated in last week's thread- I'm so over eggs- cooked in any way shape, form or fashion- unless they are baked in a cake, then I can get behind that! I don't think I'll be adding in eggs into my diet after this baby is born (provided I kick the diabetes part
)
Also my family just got over the nastiest stomach virus imaginable. It was straight from hell. So my numbers were way off and I lost 3 pounds, but OB isn't concerned since I was so sick. Hopefully I'll be able to fix that and next week will be better but it shot the entire weekend since every family member got it.
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? We have no theme for the nursery, since we are Team Green- we are going to either use my DD's bedding, which I love or my DS's which I also love for this baby so the theme will either be pink toile for a girl or navy and nautical for a boy. But we made so much progress on the baby's room the last few weeks. He/She finally has a bed complete with a mattress and washed clothes to wear! YAY!
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? I generally do not dress up for Halloween. I'm not that big into the holiday, but my kids were Darth Vader and Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter. My DD didn't trick or treat much last night since she was still feeling a bit under the weather so we came home and handed out candy- I should have handed out hand sanitizer instead
How are your numbers this week? A few spikes here and there, just adding things to the list of not eating for the next two months. This morning my fasting was really high but it was the first time in a week or so, and I slept horribly and got sick this morning before doing it so I'm not going to give that a lot of emotion yet.
How many weeks pregnant are you? 31+4
Any rants/raves/questions? I had 2 oreos on Sunday after breakfast. It gave me a huge spike. I am not happy about it. It was enough to send me into an emotional mess about how I don't enjoy food anymore
Also I finally saw my OB last week, which was nice, but she felt the need to give me a preparedness talk about how as my placenta grows I could do everything right and still end up needing medicine. So my comfort with being able to maintain so far went out the window...
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? Teddy Bears. it seemed gender neutral and appropriate, plus I love teddy bears so once baby doesn't like them anymore I can find other uses for them
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? I didn't really dress up but I bought a t shirt that had a jackolantern face on the belly.
How are your numbers this week? I would say like 80% within limits. I need to work harder at them.

Any rants/raves/questions? I bought a ton of clearance candy at Walmart. I almost got some at Sam's, but all they had was the mixed bags with nerds, and I just want chocolate. It's all in the freezer now. Some of it will be accompanying me to the hospital.
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? ..... nursery? lol. poor 2nd kid.
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? I didn't dress up. Toddler didn't nap and took off 2 costumes, so she went to the door in her diaper for ToTers.... which we didn't have a lot of.

Last night I tried out my theory on having a light snack when I get up in the night to use the restroom and it actually seemed to help bring my fasting # down.
I'm getting better at knowing what works and what doesn't, which is making life a little easier. Still sucks having to plan things out, but it will be worth it. I've also become addicted to Rice Chex with soy milk and a tsp of chocolate syrup for one of my snacks. Not pregnant me hates cereal, so I'm really surprised by how much I like it!
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? nope, still more work to do on the house before we can even think about it.
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? No, but I love the Chomp costume that was posted in another thread so much that I kinda want to make one just to have a pic of me in bc who knows if I'll have a bump like this on Halloween ever again.
How are your numbers this week? Alright I suppose. My fasting numbers are creeping up, but still under 90.

Any rants/raves/questions? Just so uncomfortable. I just want to breathe.
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? Disney, mostly Lion King but I didn't discriminate against other movies.
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? The Cookie Monster. Halloween has me disappointed. I don't know if it's a regional thing but the kids in my neighborhood are just so rude. No trick-or-treats or happy Halloween or even a thank you. I could only handle like an hour of it before giving up. You don't deserve candy if you can't be appreciative or at least in the spirit. And it's not like their parents even cared. Manners people!

How are your numbers this week? Pretty good. Generally if I have an elevated reading, it seems to be the fasting one, but that doesn't happen all the time.

Any rants/raves/questions? I agree with everyone who is over eggs... I'm not a huge fan to begin with, but I've found other things for breakfast that keep my numbers pretty steady.
Do you have a theme for your nursery and if so, what is it? Yes, dandelions! Unfortunately, I picked something that isn't very popular or easy to find, so we're doing a lot of DIY and special ordering things.
And in honor of Halloween- did you dress up and if so, as what? No, I was a pregnant pharmacist yesterday for Halloween. I don't usually dress up unless DH and I have been invited to a Halloween party, but I'm sure I'll be getting into it more once our Little Miss is here!
@cayaylonglegs since we already have 2 kids which are still T or T age, I usually put a big bowl of candy on our doorstep and say something like "We're on a Haunt, and Because Halloween is so sweet, please make sure to share and only take 2 treats." So I never deal with people ringing my doorbell, but I always tell my kids to say thank you and often yell it from the sidewalk in front of the house where I'm watching my kids. I think a simple TY goes a long way in developing relationships with neighbors, plus I don't want people thinking my kids are "those kids," or kids with no manners.
But when my DD was still really young and we didn't T or T that year, we had way too many kids not saying TY or their parents say TY when you gave out candy. It was almost as if it was expected and too many kids (at least in my area of the woods) have entitlement attitudes.
So I hear you there!
@kattyc- glad your fasting numbers are down!! I ate the same thing again last night as I have the previous nights, my fasting number was down more than usual but I was spilling ketones this morning. I'm going to assume its all recovery from my stomach virus. Ugg, playing with this food is starting to get old. I'm not even going to lie.
How are your numbers this week? Sigh, fasting numbers went down with the increase of Metformin but still not perfect. Breakfast is messing with my brain, the same thing that gave me good numbers last week is putting me over 120. I tried to switch to oatmeal bc I eat that every day for second breakfast and my numbers are good after, yeah it skyrocketed my breakfast number.

@LandJ13 This happened to me this week. I had the exact same dinner on Monday and Wednesday and my numbers were great on Monday and spiked really bad last night. I don't know what to do.
Is anyone else Starving? I am so hungry all the time. I literally finish my snack/meal and my stomach is already growling...

@BennSarah YES YES YES! I feel like I'm starving all of the time! I feel like I'm never full and I never get enough food to eat. I tend to eat all of my snacks and lunch earlier than normal recently and I just can't seem to ever get full enough.
On another note- does anyone ever feel "woozy?" My fasting number was relatively high today (which I attribute to eating too late last night followed by a late night snack) and this morning I've just felt- I don't know "off." Do you all think it's from the fasting number being a bit higher than normal (it was 100) and I usually run in the high 80's. I ate when I got into work and it has helped some but not a lot. I hate to call my OB but may have to if it doesn't stop....
The woozy feeling could be hormones towards the end of pregnancy. Or it could be from sugars, I would ask doc to be safe.
As for hunger, the nutritionist told me I can have protein between snacks. Cheese, a few nuts, etc.
How are your numbers this week? Pretty good, had one spike last night after having a Cosi sandwich on white ciabatta bread. I guess I really need to stay away from white rice and white bread!

We'll see if this turns into a rant next week, but it looks like my health insurance isn't covering a full 90 day supply of my testing supplies even though the company they told me to use already sent me a 90 day supply...but I haven't received a bill yet so we'll see what happens!

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to check in since I've been MIA for 2 weeks. My little girl was born at 29 weeks on 10/23. Her name is Margaret Michael (nn Greta). She is doing really well considering her early birth and mom and dad are doing well too.
You guys were so awesome to let me tag along on the GD journey with you I definitely wanted to update you. My story is in the January 17 Birth Announcement page if anyone is interested. My numbers were well controlled and after birth were all normal. I need to start doing some random checks but keep forgetting.
Good luck to everyone as your journey continues, just know that there is an end in site
